It's the kind of place that comes to mind sometimes because you can enjoy shabu-shabu, kalguksu, and finish with fried rice all in one visit. I think the real charm of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu is the fun of cooking vegetables and meat in that spicy broth. It's spicy but not overly harsh — more like a warm broth that soothes your stomach, which kept me reaching for more. We also added the self-made sujebi. Tearing off pieces of dough yourself and cooking them in the pot made it fun to eat. Once the sujebi went into the spicy shabu-shabu broth, the chewy texture made it even more delicious. Between the vegetables, meat, and then the sujebi, the pot kept getting more and more packed and hearty. This noodle course is another highlight of Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu. Once you finish the kalguksu, the staff clears out the remaining broth and makes the fried rice for you. Since the staff makes it themselves, we could just relax and wait for it. It's funny how, even after finishing shabu-shabu and kalguksu, your spoon still reaches for the fried rice when it arrives, haha. The nutty fried rice carried a subtle trace of the spicy broth flavor from earlier, and it was delicious right to the last bite. They made the final fried rice for us themselves and took care of what we needed as the dishes came out, so overall the service was satisfying too. Good food matters, but friendly staff really lift the mood while you're eating.
