Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, the tonkatsu spot that's great to visit with kids, the solo-dining favorite near the NC Department Store by Bulgwang Station, and the value-for-money tonkatsu restaurant in Daejo-dong, is a long-standing place Eunpyeong locals have probably passed by near Bulgwang Station. It's a 3-minute walk from Exit 4 of Bulgwang Station, served by Lines 3 and 6, so it's a true station-adjacent restaurant. It sits in a large building just behind Bulgwang NC Department Store, and since it uses good ingredients and sells at reasonable prices, it's already known as a favorite near Bulgwang Station.

As you approach, a savory aroma fills the air, true to its reputation as a Bulgwang tonkatsu favorite. Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch has a clean storefront and is a verified favorite in Daejo-dong, Eunpyeong, holding both a Fair Price Business designation from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and a Model Restaurant title. A large menu board is posted outside so you can decide what to order before stepping in. 🙂🙂

## First floor for takeout and pickup, second floor for dining in

At Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, the first floor is for takeout and the second floor is the dining area. On the first floor, the various menu items are neatly displayed in a clean glass case! The tonkatsu, coated in pale breadcrumbs, were arranged so neatly they inspired confidence before I'd even taken a bite. 😃😃

It's also famous as a tonkatsu delivery spot in Eunpyeong, so delivery riders kept coming in for pickups! Seeing the various awards displayed and the spotless hygiene in the store, I could tell why Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch is such a well-known tonkatsu place in Eunpyeong. 🙂🙂

### Second-floor dining room: table spacing and baby chairs

As mentioned, the first floor is for takeout and delivery pickup, and the second floor is for dining. Going up a floor, I found a spacious, clean room with generously spaced tables — perfect for a comfortable meal!

Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, a great spot to visit with kids near Bulgwang Station, has a spacious dining area, a baby chair, and neatly arranged children's tableware — it really seemed like an ideal place to bring kids near Bulgwang Station.

After eating, you clear your own table, and staff kept coming by to keep the recycling area tidy, which I appreciated. 😊😊

At Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, you order at a kiosk on the first floor. For dine-in too, there's a wide range of combinations — delicious tonkatsu lunchboxes, another popular menu item called hambak (patty) rice bowl, and various side dishes — making it a good spot for solo dining as well.

At Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, ordering one lunchbox per person gets you free rice and side refills, and the second floor is set up as a picnic lounge where you can even bring outside food to enjoy alongside. Hearing the owner talk about taking pride in using good ingredients and prioritizing hygiene above all, I felt this is a place that anyone, anytime, would enjoy.

### Table setup and how busy Insaeng Donkatsu gets on a weekday evening

After ordering, you head up to the second floor, take a table, and set yourself up with disposable chopsticks and a spoon from a station in the corner — it was impressively clean! Wet wipes and tissues are also available, and there are phone charging stands on the tables, making it ideal for solo diners too.

Soon after, everything we ordered arrived. We visited as a pair around 7pm on a weekday, and there was plenty of seating available!

The 200 Cheese lunchbox + udon add-on (₩13,000) is one of Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch's most popular menu items.

It's called '200 Cheese Tonkatsu' because the owner pounds the meat 200 times! The lunchbox comes with rice, salad, diced radish kimchi, pickled radish, and pickled hot peppers, and the base price is ₩10,500 — adding ₩2,500 gets you a mini udon, which I chose! The udon add-on also lets you pick hot or cold, which was another nice touch at Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch.

The 200 Cheese tonkatsu, absolutely packed with cheese, was remarkably soft. 😆😆 There was so much cheese stuffed in that as a self-proclaimed cheese-katsu enthusiast, this lunchbox blew me away ㅠㅠ. The cheese and tender meat instantly explained why the owner pounds it 200 times. Adding a touch of wasabi to the soft tonkatsu-and-cheese combo took it to another level.... 🙊🙈

The mini udon that came with it had a surprisingly generous portion too, and the broth wasn't too salty, the noodles nicely chewy — a menu item that people of all ages would enjoy! If you're getting a lunchbox at Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch, I recommend adding the hot udon.

The salad was fresh, not wilted, and cut through the richness of the cheese-katsu nicely. What especially stood out was that they clearly use good rice too — even plain rice by itself had a wonderful aroma! I demolished the whole fluffy rice-and-cheese-katsu lunchbox in no time. 😁😁

## Hug Tenderloin lunchbox with udon, 12,000 won — the pick for kids

The Hug Tenderloin lunchbox + udon (₩12,000) — my husband also ordered a lunchbox with udon added. The tenderloin was noticeably soft.

With clean, white tenderloin meat and a well-fried crispy coating, this soft tonkatsu immediately struck me as something kids would love. If you're visiting with a child, I'd recommend ordering this tenderloin tonkatsu!

The tenderloin tonkatsu was fried so well it was delicious even with just a dip of salt. One bite with salt, one bite with sauce — my husband's tonkatsu disappeared in no time...ㅎ_ㅎ The lunchbox comes with pickled hot peppers and diced radish kimchi to cut the richness, which was exactly the right side-dish pairing for a tonkatsu lunchbox!

The hot udon my husband ordered had chewy noodles and was loaded with fried tofu pockets, giving it a savory, delicious flavor. Having both ordered lunchboxes, we concluded that adding the udon was absolutely worth it. 😆😆

## Menchi-katsu a la carte, 5,000 won, with the spicy sauce

We also ordered another popular item, the menchi-katsu, as a single order for ₩5,000. As a couple who love our meat, adding this single order was a masterstroke. Even though we were already full from the lunchboxes and udon, the oil they use must be good quality, because it wasn't greasy at all, so we kept eating the different tonkatsu without getting tired of them!

Menchi-katsu is a tonkatsu made from ground meat pressed together, so with meat that's already been minced once, it was extremely soft and juicy. The meaty aroma was strong too, and I thought this would make a great beer snack.

Ordering the menchi-katsu as a single item let us choose a sauce, and I picked the spicy one. I decided that next time I order menchi-katsu, I'll definitely go with this spicy sauce again. Dipping the juicy menchi-katsu into the spicy sauce was such a great combo that next time I'll get it to go and enjoy it as a beer snack. 😁😁

### Restrooms at Insaeng Donkatsu

The restroom at Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch is inside the second-floor dining area, which was convenient. Even though the restaurant has been open a while, both the second floor and the restroom were kept impressively clean! Hand wash was available too, so it was a pleasant, clean restroom to use.

## Verdict: a Bulgwang Station tonkatsu spot for families and solo diners

Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch is already a well-known tonkatsu favorite near Bulgwang Station, and after trying various menu items on this visit, I understood why it's so popular. The owner's attention to cleanliness in the store and the commitment to using only good ingredients leave a great impression on visitors.

The cheese-katsu, tenderloin katsu, and menchi-katsu we tried were all delicious, and I got a strong sense of softness throughout, so I'd highly recommend this as a great spot to visit with kids near Bulgwang Station. With takeout, delivery, and dine-in all available, I can see myself coming back often to Insaeng Donkatsu Bulgwang branch. With a friendly owner, a clean space, and tonkatsu made carefully with good ingredients, I recommend it to anyone looking for a solo-dining favorite near Bulgwang Station, a restaurant near Bulgwang NC Department Store, or a tonkatsu favorite in Eunpyeong.
