But our schedules somehow lined up this weekend and we finally got to meet! Do you all see your parents often? ㅠㅠㅠ We decided to look around downtown Daegu, have some delicious bingsu (shaved ice dessert), and eat lunch together. My mom really loves Korean food! The “café” at the front makes it easy to get confused, but it really is a place for home-cooked Korean food~ It’s on the second floor, so we took the elevator right up~ Since it’s a solid, easygoing home-style restaurant, there were lots of people there. If we had arrived just a little later, we might have had to wait. And the best thing about Cafe Dongi is that you can fry as many eggs as you want yourself at the self-service bar!! My mom and I are absolutely crazy about fried eggs ㅠㅠ So we fried four each and piled two on each plate. My mom actually had a prejudice that Daegu food is bland, but Cafe Dongi changed her mind a bit—she said Daegu food has gotten delicious~ Haha. I eat just about anything, and Daegu-style doenjang-guk and doenjang-jjigae suit my taste better, so I’m a fan. Ho ho ho~ This is the pork bulgogi set meal I ordered!! The seasoning isn’t overly salty or spicy, so it’s a flavor anyone can comfortably enjoy! Haha. Now my mom’s stir-fried octopus? Webfoot octopus dish arrived! It’s a little spicier than the pork stir-fry, but absolutely not spicy enough that people who can’t handle heat couldn’t eat it!! One bite filled my whole mouth!! Seriously. Another good thing about Cafe Dongi is that you can keep your food warm. I don’t know if it was a candle or what, but the flame didn’t go out, so the food stayed warm instead of cooling down. That, along with the two self-fried eggs, was personally what I liked best! Haha. Lastly, the omija tea was another nice touch haha. It was refreshing, tangy, and sweet, so we enjoyed our meal happily right to the end! It was such a filling, satisfying lunch~!
