## In short

Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu is a dongjuk clam noodle restaurant on Pyeongnam-ro in Bijeon-dong, Pyeongtaek. Visiting with the kids, we ordered mulchong kalguksu (clam knife-cut noodles) and seoritae kongguksu (chilled black soybean noodle soup), and worked through the full course: clam soup first, fresh noodles timed by the 5-minute hourglass on the table, then free four-season fried rice. With its own large parking lot and wide gaps between tables, Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu is an easy pick for a family meal out.

## Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu: the dining room and parking — easy with kids?

Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu has a large dedicated parking lot, so you can head in without worrying about parking in Bijeon-dong. After a relaxed parking job, I walked in to find an open, tidy, spacious dining hall. The tables were spaced generously, so we settled in comfortably with the kids.

## What we ordered: mulchong kalguksu and seoritae kongguksu

Looking at the menu board on the wall, the signature mulchong kalguksu stood out immediately.

> Noodles are completed through waiting

⏳ Just like the phrase on the wall, I chose the warm kalguksu without hesitation — fresh dongjuk clams simmering away to make a deep broth, with chewy noodles cooking through.

On top of that, I also ordered the restaurant's other popular menu item — the rich, nutty black bean kongguksu (cold soy milk noodle soup)! 😋

## Step 1: the dongjuk clam soup that starts the course 🦪

Once the hearty pot landed on the table, the owner kindly explained how to enjoy it best.

![A boiling pot with dongjuk clams opening their shells](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-13-7mqtz-966.webp)

As the broth started boiling hard over high heat, the dongjuk clams popped their shells open one by one, showing off their freshness in the milky broth.

Picking out the well-cooked clam meat piece by piece was really satisfying. They were cleaned of grit thoroughly, so there was absolutely no sandy crunch —

![Dongjuk clam meat dipped in vinegar gochujang sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-14-icj29-m-966.webp)

just soft, chewy clam meat! Dipped in the tangy-spicy vinegar gochujang sauce, it burst in my mouth with deep ocean flavor and umami. ❤️

## Step 2: five minutes with the hourglass for chewy kalguksu noodles 🍜

![Fresh kalguksu noodles added to the clam broth with a 5-minute hourglass](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-15-rp3pw-966.webp)

After picking out all the good clam meat, it was finally time to drop the fresh noodles into the deeply infused, refreshing broth!

I flipped the 5-minute hourglass sitting on the table, waited for the sand to run out, and turned off the heat exactly then — and that turned out to be the perfect timing for the tastiest noodles. ⏳✨

The noodles stayed chewy and bouncy without going mushy, and the cool, spicy clam broth soaked right into them — genuinely impressive. The kids got excited too, lifting up chopsticks full of noodles and slurping away happily. 🥢

## Step 3: two ladles of clam broth in the free four-season fried rice 🍳

![Four-season fried rice topped with seaweed flakes, kimchi, and egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-16-1ixjq-966.webp)

After finishing all the noodles, we cleared out the pot broth thoroughly to remove any leftover shell fragments, and prepared the fried rice.

Rice mixed with savory seaweed flakes, crunchy kimchi, and soft egg was fried up with a ladle or two of the rich, concentrated kalguksu broth poured in — an absolute special treat!

After noodles, which can leave you feeling a little light, the warm and nutty fried rice filled us up perfectly for a satisfying finish. Fullness at 200%! 👍

![A finished bowl of fried rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-18-1r844-m-966.webp)

## Seoritae kongguksu with chewy bean rice cakes, a summer favourite 🥣

![Goryeo Mulchong Kalguksu's black bean kongguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-19-4o448-966.webp)

The black bean kongguksu that came alongside the kalguksu had a striking, substantial look from the start. Every time I lifted the noodles, the dark, thick soy milk clung to them densely — the consistency was really rich.

![Black bean kongguksu topped with bean powder and bean cakes](https://img.superchart.com/images/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu/pyeongtaek-bijeong-kongguksu-kalguksu-21-17mjg-966.webp)

The nutty bean powder piled on top and the chewy bean cakes were a total win! Scooping up a generous spoonful of the thick, cool soy milk gave me a mouthful of intense nuttiness with soft chewy bean cakes mixed in — I kept marveling with every bite. 🖤
