## In short

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch is an all-you-can-eat hinoki-steamed dish and shabu-shabu restaurant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi. ## Unlimited hinoki steam and shabu-shabu near Dongtan Station

There are so many great all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu spots these days, and I visited Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch (편백회관 동탄점), where both shabu-shabu and hinoki steam are unlimited at a pretty reasonable price! It is close to Dongtan Station, so it is a great place for a group get-together or a family meal out.

It is on the second floor of the Gran Via Star building at Dongtan Station. The underground parking garage is spacious, so you can visit without worrying about parking. They give you a free parking voucher with your meal~

It seems to have been featured on TV several times too.. I liked that the price was on the lower side compared with other unlimited shabu-shabu places~

## The restaurant and seating on a late Friday night

Even though I visited late on Friday evening, many tables were occupied. There are lots of tables for four and eight, making it nice for group gatherings, and there is also a playroom, so it is great to visit with kids.

## How we ordered the two-flavor broth

We ordered the dinner option. Weekday lunch is even cheaper, and children can dine at a lower price too! Shabu-shabu comes with a two-flavor broth, so you just choose the broths you want. We chose bonito plus spicy mushroom broth~

## Hinoki steam first, shabu-shabu afterward

The instructions are written at the table. The hinoki steam comes first, then you move on to the shabu-shabu~

You can eat the hinoki steam after steaming it for 10 minutes. Use the salad bar while it is steaming.

The salad bar had all sorts of food, including corn salad, fries, salad, tomato pasta, dressed acorn jelly, fried rice, and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes).

There were unlimited meats to really fill up on protein too~! They also had vegetables for shabu-shabu and Vietnamese rice-paper wraps, plus kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), sujebi (hand-torn dough soup), fish-cake skewers, and dumpling add-ins for the shabu-shabu.

There was rice and raw egg, so you could make shabu-shabu egg porridge, and there were breads too.

We set out the Vietnamese wrap ingredients and salad-bar food too! The sauces are at the table, so it is convenient to keep squeezing some out.

## Hinoki steam made with 12 medicinal herbs

The hinoki steam uses a traditional method with 12 medicinal herbs and comes steamed with kabocha squash, shrimp, dumplings, mushrooms, vegetables, and meat. I picked up a big bite of tender meat and bean sprouts, dipped it in sauce, and yum yum!

It was even tastier wrapped up with lots of the Vietnamese wrap ingredients~!

## Four plates of beef brisket and richly developed broth

After finishing the hinoki steam, you can get a refill too! If you prefer steamed food to soup, a steamed refill would be nice~ We had ours switched over to shabu-shabu~

Into the half spicy mushroom and half bonito broth went lots of napa cabbage, bean sprouts, bok choy, and mushrooms first~! They say adding lots of vegetables makes the broth even tastier, haha.

We piled on the meat too. We tried both kinds, but we liked the beef brisket better.

The beef brisket cooks in no time, so it is great to eat right away.

The kalguksu, sujebi, and porridge are refillable too, but we went all in on four plates of meat alone, haha. Unlimited protein is the best. But the broth that had developed at the end was so delicious that I regretted not having kalguksu. (But I was way too full-!!)

It was a hearty dinner with hinoki steam, shabu-shabu, and the salad bar.
