Hi, this is Mandakko :) When I eat out with my child, I care not just about the taste of the food but also whether the place feels comfortable to walk into, and whether it's a place where I won't feel burdened having a kid along. This time I visited Doseogwan Dwitjip (도서관뒷집), a Yongin Cheongdeok-dong favorite located right behind Cheongdeok Library. True to its name, it's actually right behind the library, so it was easy to find, and as a Chinese restaurant it had a vibe that felt refreshingly different from a typical one. It was clean but also as comfortable as a cafe, a space you could eat in without any pressure, and I thought it would work well for a visit with a child. Let me share my review :)

## Books in the dining room make the wait easier

Doseogwan Dwitjip's location right behind Cheongdeok Library makes it a good place to stop for a meal after visiting the library. If you're with a kid, you could look at books in the library and then head over for a meal nearby, which makes for a convenient route. Inside the store, there were also books available. Being able to casually flip through a book while waiting for food gave it a charm that felt different from an ordinary Cheongdeok-dong Chinese restaurant. Eating out with a kid, the wait before the food arrives can sometimes feel long, but having books around made that part feel a little less boring.

## Gochu jjamppong with house-pulled noodles, 9,000 won

First, the dish I was most looking forward to: spicy jjamppong (고추짬뽕, spicy seafood noodle soup) at ₩9,000. With jjamppong, the broth matters, but personally I pay a lot of attention to the noodles. Doseogwan Dwitjip makes its own noodles in-house. The noodles are on the thinner side, so the broth and seasoning soaked in well, which made the jjamppong's flavor come through even more. The noodles themselves were soft, not too thick or chewy, and easy to slurp down.

What especially caught my eye was that they make the noodles from their own dough and don't add noodle strengthener, an additive used to keep noodles from getting soggy. After eating Chinese-style noodles I sometimes feel a bit bloated afterward, but this time I could eat fairly comfortably. The ingredients in the jjamppong looked fresh too, and each ingredient's flavor came through clearly, making the dish feel clean overall.

### Corkage rules and free self-serve rice at Doseogwan Dwitjip

Doseogwan Dwitjip doesn't sell alcohol, but corkage is allowed! It's limited to 3 bottles per table (any type). (Alcohol can't be brought in from 11am to 1pm on weekday lunch.)

Rice is self-serve and free, so you can eat comfortably~!

### Jjamppong broth aged 12 hours at low temperature

One thing that stands out about Doseogwan Dwitjip's jjamppong is the broth. Rather than being made with water, it's said to be stir-fried using only vegetable stock, then aged at a low temperature for over 12 hours. Maybe because of that, it wasn't just a spicy jjamppong — the broth had a deep flavor to it. It had the fiery kick you'd expect from spicy jjamppong, but the broth's own flavor came through too, which paired well with the noodles. If you're looking for jjamppong in Cheongdeok-dong, this one is worth trying.

## Fried rice, 9,500 won, served with noodles and jjamppong broth

The second dish was fried rice at ₩9,500. After eating spicy, fiery jjamppong, switching to fried rice changes things up, so I naturally ended up alternating between the two. If two people are visiting, ordering one jjamppong and one fried rice to share is a solid combination. The fried rice also comes with a bit of noodles, so you can taste jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) too, and jjamppong broth is provided as well~

## Mini tangsuyuk, 10,000 won: enough for two

When two people go to a Chinese restaurant, you sometimes want to order sweet and sour pork too but worry the portion will be too much — having a mini size made it less of a burden. With jjamppong, fried rice, and sweet and sour pork all together, we could taste a good variety of dishes. Even visiting with a kid, instead of the spicy jjamppong, you can choose dishes like fried rice or sweet and sour pork that are easier to share, which I think makes this a good option for anyone looking for a Chinese restaurant that's good to visit with kids.

## Is Doseogwan Dwitjip worth a visit? Final verdict

The thin house-made noodles and the jjamppong broth aged over 12 hours at low temperature were impressive, and the ingredients were fresh, making the food feel clean overall. The comfortable, cafe-like atmosphere, a bit different from a typical Chinese restaurant, makes it a good option when looking for a place to bring a kid. If you're looking for somewhere to eat near Cheongdeok Library, or searching for a Yongin Cheongdeok-dong restaurant, a spot near Cheongdeok Library, or a Cheongdeok-dong Chinese restaurant, give Doseogwan Dwitjip a try. Next time I'm going to try the old-style jjajangmyeon I was curious about :) It was a comfortable place to look at books at Cheongdeok Library and enjoy a good meal with a kid 🌼
