## In short

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is a Korean restaurant near Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. I tried the 2-person Oje Bokkeum set with stir-fried squid and pork, plus perilla seed sujebi, and loved the spacious dining room and hot stone plate. Verdict: a filling choice for lunch or a group meal.

It’s on the second floor!

![Clean and spacious restaurant interior](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-04-9pyys-900.webp)

This is a recently opened spot, and as soon as I stepped inside, it felt so clean and spacious that everything seemed wide open.

## From lunch sets to dinner drinks

As a Korean restaurant near Sanbon Station, Deodolpan Sanbon Branch had a wide range of Korean dishes ready to choose from. Main options included set meals with skillet stir-fried squid, stir-fried pork, stir-fried squid with beef intestine, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), making it a nice place for lunch in Sanbon.

In particular, the cheonggukjang and doenjang jjigae meals come as individual table settings, perfect for dining alone! Beyond the lunch-friendly dishes, there were drinking-table sets with hot-plate stir-fries, minari squid pancake, hot pot, and more, along with plenty of side dishes that would go well with drinks in the evening.

It wasn’t written on the menu board, but there was also a sujebi option on the kiosk, so I ordered it!

- Perilla seed sujebi — ₩10,900

![Basic side dishes on a retro tray](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-09-8wjjv-900.webp)

The basic side dishes were perilla leaves, stir-fried fish cake, seasoned bean sprouts, young radish kimchi, and pickled radish wraps. Served on a retro tray, they made me feel like I was visiting my grandma’s house.

You can refill any side dishes you run out of at the self-service bar!

## Oje Bokkeum set with squid and pork

> Oje Bokkeum set for 2 (₩31,000)

Oje Bokkeum is a dish combining stir-fried squid and stir-fried pork. When ordered as a set meal, it comes with the stir-fry, rice, and doenjang jjigae.

![Oje Bokkeum set on a stone plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-11-sv8xo-900.webp)

Oje Bokkeum is stir-fried over direct flame on a stone plate, so a subtle smoky aroma spread as soon as it arrived. It even came with chewy jjolmyeon noodles!

You can choose the spice level for Deodolpan’s stone-plate dishes, and the spicy option is about as hot as Shin Ramyun! For someone like me who can’t even handle Shin Ramyun, the regular level was just right—not spicy, but nicely balanced.

![Direct-flame stir-fried squid and pork](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-14-1pe1n-900.webp)

Maybe because it was stir-fried directly over flame on the stone plate, the meat had a lovely subtle smokiness, and the squid was so plump! Every bite was springy and wonderfully chewy. There were also generous amounts of scallions, cabbage, onion, and other vegetables, adding crunch and their own mild sweetness, so the overall flavor felt incredibly full.

With rice and doenjang jjigae included too, it made for an even heartier meal and a proper Korean spread.

The doenjang jjigae was packed with ingredients, especially lots of dried shrimp, which gave the broth such a refreshing depth!

One of the key points of the Oje Bokkeum was the jjolmyeon noodles! They had that signature chewy, bouncy texture and were thoroughly coated in sauce, so every bite delivered a rich hit of seasoning.

The Oje Bokkeum and jjolmyeon noodles were also so good wrapped together in leafy greens!

Since rice comes with the meal, it would be great to mix it with the Oje Bokkeum, bean sprouts, young radish kimchi, and any other side dishes you like. There’s sesame oil on the table, too!

How could it possibly not taste good with sesame oil added to this delicious sauce.. 💛

## Perilla seed sujebi in a huge earthenware pot

> Perilla seed sujebi (₩10,900)

![Perilla seed sujebi in a large earthenware pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-20-t75pe-900.webp)

I ordered one serving, but it came in such a huge earthenware pot that I was genuinely taken aback!

![Nutty perilla seed sujebi broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-21-8p8e1-900.webp)

The broth had the characteristic nutty, clean flavor of perilla seeds and was so smooth; each spoonful felt like it warmed me from the inside.

I think the thickness is really important for sujebi dough, and these pieces were not too thick—just the right thickness, with a chewy yet soft texture that I loved.

![Chewy sujebi dough](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-22-1buz1-900.webp)

The broth paired especially well with the slightly spicy stone-plate stir-fry dishes, so I recommend ordering them together‼️

![Convenience items at the counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch/sanbon-hotplate-korean-lunch-23-1vpt8-900.webp)

Floss picks, hair ties, candy, and more are available at the counter, so help yourself if you need them 😉

## A satisfying meal of warm stone-plate Korean food

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch was a great Gunpo restaurant for a comfortable meal, with easy access from Sanbon Station and a clean dining room. The set meals were generous and filling, combining hot-plate stir-fry with rice and stew. Since the dishes arrive on a stone plate, I loved being able to eat warm food almost until the very end of the meal.

On top of that, the dining room is spacious with plenty of room between tables, and evening drinking-table dishes are available too, making it just right for company dinners or group gatherings!
