My husband and I went to Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap (홍가족발보쌈국밥), a great spot near Byeongjeom Station, for jokbal (braised pig’s trotters), our soul food 🤗

Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap is a jokbal specialty restaurant just a five-minute walk from Exit 1 of Byeongjeom Station.

It is a newly opened jokbal and bossam (boiled pork wraps) restaurant! As soon as we stepped inside, it was obvious how neat and clean the place was, which made it lovely for a meal.

## A menu spanning jokbal to gukbap

Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap’s signature dishes were jokbal, bossam, and gukbap (rice soup). For jokbal, you could choose front or hind trotters, with original, garlic, spicy, and chilled versions available. Bossam came in original, garlic, and soy sauce varieties, while the gukbap selection included bean sprout, kimchi bean sprout, dried pollack bean sprout, and oyster bean sprout gukbap, plus sundae-guk, bone hangover soup, galbitang, and samgyetang. There were also bone gamjatang and gopchang hot pot for sharing with a group!

There was a separate lunch-special menu, too, including a bossam set meal with a bowl of rice, bean sprout soup, and side dishes, so I thought I should come back for lunch sometime! That day, we ordered the extra-large front trotter jokbal and platter makguksu!

First, the spicy bean sprout soup arrived! It was warm and nicely fiery, perfect alongside the bossam 😆

Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap has a self-service corner in the middle of the restaurant, where you can freely refill the side dishes.

## Extra-large front trotter jokbal that looked enough for three

The extra-large front trotter jokbal, platter makguksu, and a variety of side dishes arrived! The portion was truly enormous—it looked like enough for three people 👀 The sides were pickled onions, pickled cucumber, fresh kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, seasoned aged kimchi, and cubed radish kimchi. They all went so well with the jokbal, and we really enjoyed them 😋

And here is the star of the day: the extra-large front trotter jokbal! If jokbal lovers get to choose between front and hind trotters, they always call for the front trotters ☺️

Front trotter jokbal is always popular because it has less dry lean meat and more chewy skin than hind trotter jokbal! Sure enough, Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap’s front trotter jokbal was not only beautifully glossy, but its skin was incredibly bouncy and chewy. My husband and I ate it in amazement 😀

The reason the jokbal was cooked so deliciously was that there was a separate boiling room, so you could enjoy tender jokbal at any time!

Beyond the taste and quality, the portions were overwhelmingly generous, making it a great place to visit with family 😃

Look at that bounce~ I am not much for dry lean meat, so I was so happy to have a piece loaded with skin like this 😍

Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap’s front trotter jokbal was well seasoned all the way through, so it was delicious even with just a light dip in salted shrimp. It was also good wrapped with the various kimchi sides 👍 And finishing with the fiery bean sprout soup was simply perfect ⭐️

## Platter makguksu with slushy ice, perfect alongside jokbal

And then there was platter makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles), which went so well with the jokbal! It came with seven kinds of vegetables, so we could enjoy the makguksu in a healthy, delicious way 😉

Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap’s platter makguksu arrived topped with a tangy, spicy sauce with tiny slivers of ice. Once we mixed it with all the vegetables, it was even more delicious!

My husband really loves platter makguksu too, and we both enjoyed this one: the noodles at Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap were wonderfully chewy, and the seasoning had incredible savory depth 😋 If you love jokbal, definitely come here and order the extra-large front trotter jokbal with the sweet-and-tangy platter makguksu! I recommend Hongga Jokbal Bossam Gukbap for jokbal near Byeongjeom Station ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
