I went to Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch for a weekday lunch with a friend, just the two of us.

That day I was craving Korean food with lots of side dishes, so I looked around and ended up here. Since I wanted a proper meal of rice and banchan (side dishes), I added a soy crab on top of the basic set.

Lately when I search for Gachiul restaurants I've been checking out more places with Korean set meals or full courses, and this one's menu lineup caught my eye, so I decided on it.

## Restaurant atmosphere and seating

Walking in, the interior was bigger than I expected.

Tables were arranged in several rows and there were quite a lot of lunch guests, but a wide aisle down the middle kept it from feeling crowded.

Overall it felt clean and comfortable for a meal, and I noticed a few tables of families eating together.

## Tteuranchae Bapsang pricing and what we ordered

Before sitting down I took my time looking over the menu board.

The basic set, Tteuranchae Bapsang, is ₩13,000 per person, and à la carte options like soy crab, borigulbi, charcoal pork, cockle salad, and grilled mackerel were also available.

There were separate full course meals too — the borigulbi, soy crab, and charcoal grill courses were ₩31,000 per person, while the cockle salad and grilled mackerel courses were listed at ₩29,000 per person.

After some thought, we went with the Tteuranchae Bapsang for two plus one soy crab add-on at ₩18,000.

## How the table looked when it arrived

After a short wait, the dishes started coming out one by one.

Pot rice and doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) were placed in the middle, and side dishes filled up both sides until the table was completely full.

I usually like eating lots of different banchan in small bites, so seeing this spread already had me deciding which one to try first.

Even just the basic set didn't look skimpy for a full meal, and adding the soy crab made it even more generous.

### The banchan lineup

Looking closer, the variety of side dishes was more than I expected.

Alongside kimchi and namul (seasoned vegetables), there was japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), eggplant banchan, and pickled vegetables — all good with rice.

Rather than sticking to one banchan, it was more fun putting a different one on each spoonful of rice.

Each was seasoned a little differently, so I kept reaching for one after another.

## Trying the domestic hwangge soy crab add-on

The extra we ordered this time was the soy crab.

The menu listed it as domestic hwangge (yellow crab), and it came out on a plate with several crabs looking pretty appetizing.

Picking the meat out, the soy sauce marinade had soaked in nicely and tasted salty-savory. Eating it with cheongyang chili made the flavor feel a bit cleaner.

Above all, it went really well with warm rice.

A little crab meat over a spoonful of rice disappeared fast. The regular banchan were already varied, but adding the soy crab that day was definitely the right call.

If you like soy crab, adding it à la carte to the basic set seems like a good move.

## Pot rice and doenjang stew

The rice came in a stone pot with a few black beans mixed in.

After scooping out the rice, the leftover crust in the pot turns into nurungji (scorched rice), so the meal stayed warm right to the end — a nice touch.

The doenjang stew served alongside also paired well with the rice.

Between picking at banchan, a spoonful of the stew reminded me how well this kind of soup goes with warm rice.

I also tried putting namul and pickled vegetables on top of the rice.

Each banchan had a different texture and flavor, so the same rice felt a bit different depending on the combination.

And of course, piling soy crab meat on rice was a must too.

Switching between all these little side dishes made for a pretty filling lunch.

If you enjoy meals with rice and a variety of banchan, this kind of restaurant is worth checking out when looking for Gachiul restaurants.

## The self-service banchan corner

There was a separate self-service corner off to one side of the restaurant.

Various banchan and vegetables were laid out by type, and you could serve yourself whatever you needed.

There was also a spot with rice ready to go, and being able to easily grab more of whatever ran low felt very practical.

Rather than piling on a lot at first, it was actually more convenient to just grab small amounts as needed while eating.

## Coffee, waiting seats, and what to try next time

After finishing the meal, I took a quick look around the outside area.

Americano and mixed coffee were both available, and there was a long row of waiting seats by the window with a different vibe from the main dining tables.

This time we went with the basic Tteuranchae Bapsang, but looking at the menu board again made me curious about other dishes.

- À la carte: charcoal pork ₩18,000, borigulbi ₩18,000, cockle salad ₩16,000, grilled mackerel ₩16,000
- Course meals: borigulbi / soy crab / charcoal grill course ₩31,000 per person; cockle salad / grilled mackerel course ₩29,000 per person

We only added soy crab this time, but next time trying borigulbi or charcoal pork alongside sounds good too.

Especially when looking for a Gachiul hanjeongsik (Korean course meal), it's worth comparing a full course against just adding an à la carte item to the basic set.

For two people like us, ordering the basic set and adding one favorite dish was a pretty good combination.

## Weekday lunch for two, wrapped up

That day, two of us visited for weekday lunch and ordered the Tteuranchae Bapsang for two plus one domestic hwangge soy crab.

Overall we got to try a bit of everything, and with the pot rice and doenjang stew alongside, it was quite a filling meal.

The soy crab especially went well with rice, and mixing in namul or pickled vegetables kept the meal from feeling monotonous.

This setup suits days when you're craving Korean food eaten slowly with rice and lots of banchan, rather than a meal centered on one flashy dish.

If you're looking for a Gachiul hanjeongsik, it's worth comparing the basic set against the full course menus before you visit.

I was especially glad I added the soy crab this time, and next time I'd like to try the borigulbi or charcoal pork I skipped.

Overall, it was a good place to sit comfortably at lunchtime and eat a bit of everything, rice and banchan alike.

If you're craving Korean food and searching for Gachiul restaurants, take a look at the menu board first and order whatever you like the look of.

I had a filling weekday lunch at Gim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Bucheon Main Branch, and I'd like to try a different menu next time. For anyone looking for Gachiul restaurants, I'd recommend the Tteuranchae Bapsang + soy crab combo I had that day :)
