## In short

Jakdong Hongdukkkae Kalguksu Bucheon Main Branch is a clam kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant near Kkachiul Station, at the foot of Wonmisan in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. Two servings of clam kalguksu at 11,000 won each and the meat-and-kimchi half-and-half dumpling plate at 10,000 won came with house-made noodles, a clear broth flavored with wrinkled sea squirt (mideodeok), a large outdoor parking lot and friendly service. I stopped by Jakdong Hongdukkkae Kalguksu Bucheon Main Branch again — this is the place I turn to whenever I'm craving something hot and refreshing at the same time. I've been a few times now, and it's never let me down. What I especially love is the clean broth, where clams and wrinkled sea squirt come together without an overly strong or artificial taste.

The restaurant is spacious with lots of families eating there, and this visit made me think — next time, I really should bring my parents!

## Where is Jakdong Hongdukkkae, and its parking and hours

Jakdong Hongdukkkae Kalguksu sits at 63 Giljuro560beon-gil, Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, tucked into the foot of Wonmisan. It's about 900m from Exit 2 of Kkachiul Station, or you can take a bus and get off at Bucheon Sangnok School or Eunhaengnamu Gas Station stop.

It's open daily from 10:30 to 21:00, with last order at 20:30. The only days it's closed are the day before and the day of major holidays.

There's a large outdoor parking lot right in front, making it easy to drive here. That said, during lunch or on weekends, it can fill up completely because of how busy the place gets.

You can reserve online through CatchTable, and if there's a wait when you arrive, you can also register for the waitlist through the app. Since weekends and lunchtime get crowded, it's worth booking ahead.

## The menu, from clam kalguksu to dumplings

![Menu board listing clam kalguksu and dumplings](https://img.superchart.com/images/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents-08-11eab-966.webp)

The signature dish is clam kalguksu at ₩11,000. Beyond that, there are meat dumplings and kimchi dumplings at ₩8,000 each, a meat-kimchi half-and-half dumpling plate at ₩10,000, boiled dumplings at ₩6,000, and steamed shrimp — 10 pieces for ₩11,000.

![Barley rice and side dishes served before the kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents-09-jxjhn-m-966.webp)

In summer, they also offer house-made kongguksu (chilled soybean noodle soup), freshly ground in-house, as a ₩13,000 seasonal item. On this visit, we ordered two bowls of clam kalguksu and the meat-kimchi half-and-half dumplings.

When you order kalguksu, they first bring out barley rice, which has a nutty, chewy bite — good for nibbling while you wait for the noodles.

## House-made noodles with a chewy, springy bite

One reason I keep coming back to this Jakdong kalguksu is the house-made noodles. The broth is boiled right at the table, then the noodles go in and cook there — they come out chewy and springy, with a satisfying slurp.

What I especially like is how naturally the broth soaks into the noodles, so noodles and soup never feel separate — they come together well. The broth itself leans clean and refreshing, closer to the natural flavor of clams and wrinkled sea squirt than to a heavily seasoned, MSG-forward style.

The clams' sweetness really stood out on this visit. The finely chopped wrinkled sea squirt gives a nice crunchy bite and adds to the broth's refreshing quality alongside the clams.

## Add the chili paste later, and only a little

![Chili paste (gochu dadaegi) on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents-13-1qvtw-966.webp)

![A bowl of kalguksu made spicy with chili paste](https://img.superchart.com/images/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents-14-1du3g-966.webp)

If you want it spicy, there's a chili paste (gochu dadaegi) on the table you can stir in. My tip: try the plain broth first, then spoon out a separate portion and add the chili paste there. That way you get to enjoy the clean, natural clam broth first, then the spicy version too.

That said, the paste itself is fairly salty, so it's better to add a little at a time rather than dumping in a lot at once.

## Half-and-half dumplings that paired well with the kalguksu

![A plate of meat-kimchi half-and-half dumplings](https://img.superchart.com/images/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents/jakdong-hongdukkae-kalguksu-bucheon-parents-15-mtzl4-966.webp)

The meat-kimchi half-and-half dumplings we ordered alongside were also satisfying. The wrapper is thin and the filling generous — just the kind of dumpling I like.

If I had to pick one, I'd lean toward the meat dumplings. The wrapper felt thinner than the kimchi version, and the filling was hearty, giving more of a handmade feel. For two people, ordering two portions of clam kalguksu with one half-and-half dumpling plate on the side is a solid combo.

## Would I bring my parents back to Jakdong Hongdukkkae?

What always stays with me after visiting isn't just the food but the staff's warm service. There were several employees working, and every single one of them treated us with the same friendly ease, which made the whole meal feel comfortable.

With the spacious parking lot, the family-friendly atmosphere, and the mild, non-heavy kalguksu, I could see exactly why so many customers come here with their parents.

For me, Jakdong Hongdukkkae Kalguksu isn't really a place you visit once for a new flavor experience — it's more of a go-to kalguksu spot you can return to anytime and always enjoy without fuss.

If you're looking for a great kalguksu spot in Jakdong, Bucheon, or a restaurant to take your parents to, this one's worth a visit. Next time, I really do want to bring mine along!
