## In short

Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a Blue Ribbon-listed charcoal-grilled beef offal restaurant on the 2nd floor right in front of Exit 11 of Dangsan Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. Instead of an assorted set, the writer ordered Korean beef gopchang (small intestine), daechang (large intestine) and makchang (abomasum) à la carte, and the staff grilled everything from start to finish; the makchang was so good that one more portion was added. Chodaechang Dangsan Station is a strong pick for anyone who wants to eat only their favorite cuts.

This is a story about my visit to Chodaechang Dangsan Station, which I found while looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant near Dangsan Station. It's right in front of Exit 11 of Dangsan Station, so it's really easy to find. Best of all, it's a Blue Ribbon-listed gopchang (grilled beef small intestine) spot, so if you're someone who loves gopchang, daechang, or makchang, this place has probably crossed your radar before. I went and tried it myself this time — the staff grilled everything from start to finish so I could eat comfortably, and each dish was pretty satisfying. I especially loved being able to try gopchang, thick daechang, and chewy makchang all in one sitting. Let me honestly introduce why this place is such a popular Korean BBQ spot near Dangsan Station, along with the dishes I actually tried :)

### Right in front of Dangsan Station Exit 11

As soon as I arrived, the big red sign caught my eye right away. Chodaechang Dangsan Station is located right in front of Exit 11 of Dangsan Station, so it was really easy to find. Being so close to the station also makes it a great meeting spot — especially convenient for group dinners or gatherings where people are coming by public transit. Parking is also available. If you call the restaurant before arriving, they'll guide you on parking, and if the lot is full, there are nearby public parking lots you can use. We got guidance over the phone right before our visit and luckily found a spot right in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy.

## Why the Blue Ribbon listing raises expectations at Chodaechang

The moment I stepped inside, the Blue Ribbon Survey sticker caught my eye. Seeing that badge naturally raised my expectations for the food, haha. Having been in business for over 10 years and earning a Blue Ribbon listing on top of that made me curious why it's been so beloved in Dangsan for so long. And as a place that clearly gets a lot of group gatherings and company dinners, they were running various events too. First, one free bottle of corkage per visit, and one more free bottle if you reserve through Naver. There's also a 10% time-sale discount if you reserve and visit between 5 and 6 PM. Reservations for 5:00, 5:30, or 6:00 all qualify, so worth keeping in mind if you're planning a visit.

### Inside Chodaechang Dangsan Station: clean and cozy

When you think of a Korean BBQ restaurant, you tend to picture a loud, smoky place, but Chodaechang Dangsan Station was surprisingly calm and clean inside. The tables were fairly spacious, and the high walls behind the chairs naturally divided the space like partitions. That made it feel less crammed next to neighboring tables and a bit more private for eating. The ventilation was also really good, so there was none of that stuffy, heavy smell you'd expect at a Korean BBQ place. My clothes barely picked up any meat smell either, which was a relief even after the meal. And haha, in the country-of-origin label, under 'staff,' it said 'Domestic' — a nice little laugh point!

![Basic table setting at Chodaechang Dangsan Station before the à la carte order](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-07-injz5-966.webp)

I really got to pick out all my favorite cuts, haha. First, the side dishes were set out — they came out neat and tidy. Dressed lettuce, salad, garlic scape pickles, and more, and the garlic scape pickles especially went well with the gopchang and daechang. When eating fatty cuts, having something tangy and crunchy on the side really cuts the richness, so I kept reaching for it.

## Gopchang, daechang and makchang grilled over charcoal

After a bit, the charcoal grill was ready. Meat grilled over charcoal just has a different vibe. When the charcoal is good, it's said to add a subtle smoky aroma to the meat, making it taste even better.

![Charcoal grill set up on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-10-5d6zc-966.webp)

And finally, the gopchang, daechang, and makchang we ordered arrived. The gopchang wasn't seasoned, while the daechang and makchang had a red seasoning on them. At first I wondered if it might be really spicy, but it wasn't at all. When I asked the staff, they said it wasn't a spicy seasoning but more of a light brine seasoning. So even people who can't handle spicy food shouldn't worry too much.

## Staff at Chodaechang grill every cut from start to finish

And here's what I liked most about Chodaechang — the staff grill everything from start to finish. When you grill gopchang yourself, it's hard to tell how done it is, and if you're not careful, it can burn on the outside while staying underdone inside. But since the staff handled everything from beginning to end, we just got to sit back comfortably and wait to eat, haha. They put the gopchang on first and flipped it over and over to grill it to a nice golden brown — their grilling skills were really impressive.

I want to eat it already!! Waiting with food right in front of you feels so long....

![Korean beef gopchang grilling over charcoal](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-12-18o5m-966.webp)

![Gopchang and grilled vegetables turning golden brown](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-13-2zd0v-1200.webp)

Finally, it was done!!!! The finished gopchang was moved onto a separate grill plate, which kept it warm without burning further — a nice touch.

![Finished Korean beef gopchang placed on the grill plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-14-ggcqp-966.webp)

I dipped it in the special sauce and took a bite — the distinct savory flavor of gopchang really came through. Paired with roasted garlic, garlic scape pickles, and cheongyang peppers, the combination was fantastic! I also tried it with paprika and grilled green onion, and honestly, charcoal-grilled vegetables with gopchang need no further explanation, haha.

## Plump Korean beef daechang that looks as good as it tastes

Next up were the daechang and makchang I'd been looking forward to. The moment I saw the daechang, the first thing I said was, "Wow, this daechang is so plump!" Haha, it was thick and plump exactly as the name suggests, satisfying just to look at.

The staff cut it into bite-sized pieces and carefully flipped each piece over one by one while grilling. Watching them keep flipping and repositioning it really felt like watching a grilling expert! We just sat comfortably and ate, so I almost felt bad for the staff, haha.

The nicely browned daechang was placed back onto the grill plate, and I took a bite right away. The moment it hit my mouth, it had this melt-in-your-mouth savoriness!

Adding the special sauce with cheongyang pepper cut through the richness while bringing out the daechang's savory flavor even more. That's really how you're supposed to eat daechang, haha.

## Spicy ramyeon as a palate cleanser at Chodaechang

After enjoying the daechang, I suddenly craved something spicy. And what's needed in that moment? Ramyeon (Korean instant noodles), of course, haha. So we ordered a spicy ramyeon. The spicy broth smell wafted up, and taking a spoonful of the broth between bites of daechang was a really good combination. After eating something rich, that spicy broth cleared my palate right up! Ramyeon really is non-negotiable when eating meat, haha.

## Chewy, nutty makchang worth an extra portion

And finally, it was time for the makchang. It seemed to take a bit longer to cook than the gopchang or daechang. But it was worth the wait. The well-grilled makchang was golden brown on the outside and chewy on the inside. The more you chewed, the more savory it got — it was so delicious. I've always liked makchang the most, so I enjoyed it even more.

![Grilled makchang, golden brown outside and chewy inside](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-18-17eql-966.webp)

![Thick makchang cut into smaller pieces and grilled](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-19-1y2yp-966.webp)

It went really well with the garlic scape pickles too, and it was also delicious dipped in the special sauce. Also, since the makchang is on the thicker side, I'd recommend cutting it into smaller pieces rather than eating it in big bites. Cutting it small made it easier to enjoy the chewy texture and savory flavor. It was so good that we ended up ordering more makchang, haha. I felt a little bad for not giving the staff a break, but I just couldn't resist something this tasty. 😂

As soon as I tried one piece of makchang, I ordered more right away. This one's a must-have more — hurry, order more!!

It was so chewy and got more savory the more I chewed, that after one bite I was already thinking I need to order this again, haha. So without hesitation, one more portion of makchang! 😆

## Is Chodaechang worth it for Korean BBQ near Dangsan Station?

Overall, Chodaechang Dangsan Station exceeded my expectations. First, being right in front of Dangsan Station Exit 11 makes it really accessible, and the restaurant is clean with spacious seating, making it a good spot for gatherings or company dinners too. Above all, having the staff grill everything from start to finish made the meal so easy to enjoy. Gopchang, daechang, and makchang each had their own clear appeal. The gopchang was savory and clean-tasting, the daechang was plump and soft with a proper savory flavor, and the makchang was chewy and got more savory the more I chewed — personally my favorite.

![Charcoal-grilled gopchang, daechang, and makchang together on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order/chodaechang-dangsan-makchang-single-order-23-1iapp-966.webp)

Even though the daechang and makchang were seasoned, they weren't spicy at all, so there's no need to worry about heat. Especially grilled over charcoal, the subtle smoky aroma made everything taste even better. À la carte dishes might be a bit pricier than the assorted set, but since I personally like picking only the cuts I love, I actually found it more satisfying.

True to its Blue Ribbon reputation, the food was great and the owner and staff were kind, making for a pleasant meal overall! If you're looking for a good Korean BBQ restaurant near Dangsan Station, or craving delicious grilled gopchang, daechang, or makchang in Dangsan, Chodaechang Dangsan Station is worth a visit. I loved the savory gopchang, the plump daechang, and the chewy makchang — all of it. 🧡
