## In short

Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch is a shabu-kalguksu (hot pot with knife-cut noodles) restaurant that makes its own noodles in Gogi-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin. On a return visit with a baby, three diners ordered the shabu-kalguksu set for two at 23,000 won and added 70g sirloin, a mushroom-and-minari platter and cheese for the fried rice, paying 36,000 won in total, with tables spaced far enough apart to park a stroller alongside. Between the 48-hour aged noodles and the cheese fried rice finish, Yun Ujae is still strong value.

I kept thinking about Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch after loving it the first time, so this time I went with Ppoppo, our baby, just the three of us. Eating out with a baby usually gets chaotic, but luckily Ppoppo slept the whole time, so I got to eat a meal in peace for once. It impressed me last time too, and it did again this time. Let me introduce it 😊

## Parking and dining room: is there space for a stroller?

![Exterior signboard of Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu Gogidong Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-02-1cs1g-900.webp)

The sign looked familiar right away, which was nice to see.

![Spacious parking lot in front of the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-03-gc8sk-900.webp)

The parking lot is spacious too, so parking is easy!

![Dining room stretching wide toward the back](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-04-9rx6e-900.webp)

![Separate waiting area](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-05-i9dfn-m-900.webp)

The dining room stretches wide toward the back, and there's a separate waiting area. We came at a slightly off-peak time and still waited a bit before getting seated — this really is a popular Suji spot, always busy. The tables are spaced generously, so it was fine to park the baby stroller right next to us.

![View of the noodle-making room inside the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-06-17gvi-900.webp)

![Noodle-making room with house-made noodle sign](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-07-18cab-900.webp)

There's a noodle-making room on site, so it definitely feels like a noodle specialist.

## What we added to the shabu-kalguksu set for two (36,000 won total)

![Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-08-ea3pq-900.webp)

![Menu board showing add-on items](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-09-1jepf-900.webp)

- Shabu-kalguksu set for two - ₩23,000
- Sirloin add-on (70g) - ₩4,000
- Mushroom-minari platter add-on - ₩5,000
- Cheese fried rice add-on - ₩2,000
- Cider - ₩2,000
- Total: ₩36,000

The basic set already comes with a good amount, but this time we generously added sirloin and the mushroom-minari platter too, which was just right for two people.

## The full table spread and how the broth tastes

Let me show you the full spread first. It comes with plenty of thinly sliced sirloin and a generous mushroom-minari platter. Boiling it with lots of minari (water dropwort) and mushrooms makes the broth even richer while staying clean-tasting.

![Kimchi and diced radish kimchi from the self-serve counter](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-11-1tvrd-900.webp)

The kimchi and diced radish kimchi here were still delicious too. You can grab more from the self-serve counter, and eating it alongside the broth was refreshing.

![Spoon and chopsticks served soaking in water](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-12-1kycc-900.webp)

A nice touch: the spoon and chopsticks come soaked in water. It feels like a little extra sanitizing step, and I always appreciate that!

![Blanching sirloin in the boiling broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-13-zqpmm-900.webp)

Briefly blanching the meat in the boiling broth kept it tender with no gamey smell at all.

![Shabu pot filled with oyster mushrooms and minari](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-14-18kk7-900.webp)

![Scooping out minari and mushrooms to eat](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-15-1fs78-900.webp)

Oyster mushrooms and minari together are the best combo! Delicious every single time.

## House-made flat noodles: call a server to add them

![A plate of house-made flat noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-16-1y74y-900.webp)

When it's time to add the house-made noodles, the broth transforms yet again. To add the flat noodles you need to call a staff member — they'll cut them into easy-to-eat lengths for you!

![Adding flat noodles to the boiling broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-17-ner8z-900.webp)

Just add them in and eat together with the meat! Boiling the chewy noodles rounds the broth out into something rich yet clean, and it blends beautifully with the meat stock and the sweetness of the vegetables. There's a sign explaining that the noodle room is separate and the dough is kneaded the traditional way and aged for 48 hours. No wonder the noodles are unusually chewy — turns out there's a reason for everything.

![Extra broth ready at the self-serve bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-18-105hv-900.webp)

If the broth seems to be running low, just grab more from the self-serve bar!

![Kalguksu noodles dipped in soy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-19-1ma6a-900.webp)

The noodles taste great dipped in the soy sauce

![Kalguksu noodles eaten with kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-20-16dbx-900.webp)

and eating them with kimchi cuts any richness completely — the best!

![Flat noodles thickened after long boiling](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-21-1aqf8-900.webp)

The longer you boil the noodles, the thicker they get — almost like a dumpling-dough texture. It's the kind of flavor that keeps pulling me back for repeat visits, I think.

## Finishing with cheese fried rice

![Fried rice being cooked with kimchi and seaweed](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-22-1859g-900.webp)

Adding cheese, they fry up rice with kimchi and seaweed right at the table, and the savory smell hits you immediately.

![Fried rice topped with cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-23-14ocl-900.webp)

The fried rice is already good on its own, but topping it with cheese seals the deal!! I hesitated over the 2,000 won add-on, but it really does make a difference!!

![Finished fried rice mixed with melted cheese](https://img.superchart.com/images/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit/yunwoojae-gogidong-shabu-kalguksu-baby-visit-24-1w37l-900.webp)

Mixed with the melted cheese, it finished savory rather than greasy. For this price and this much food, I still think it's excellent value.

## Why we'd return to Yun Ujae with a baby

- House-made noodles aged 48 hours, chewy texture
- Can add plenty of sirloin and the mushroom-minari platter
- Rich yet clean broth
- A hearty finish with cheese-topped fried rice
- Relaxed enough atmosphere to bring a baby along

This is a place I keep recommending to anyone looking for good food in Suji. I'd love to bring Ppoppo back again once she's a bit bigger.
