## In short

Bangbaedong Ssalguksu is a Vietnamese restaurant in Seocho, Seoul, near Sadang and Isu stations, with the feel of a local diner in Vietnam. On an after-work date, the writer ordered brisket pho for 11,000 won, pineapple fried rice for 12,000 won, and fresh spring rolls and wingbon (fried chicken wings) at 6,000 won each, along with a Tiger beer and a shot of Nep Moi. The smoky pineapple fried rice was the most memorable dish, so Bangbaedong Ssalguksu is best shared as pho plus fried rice rather than pho alone.

Bangbaedong Ssalguksu, a pho (Vietnamese rice noodle soup) spot near Sadang — full of Vietnamese local vibes, and the food is good with generous portions to boot!

## Why Bangbaedong Ssalguksu works for an after-work dinner date in Sadang

Today I want to share a review of Bangbaedong Ssalguksu, where I went for dinner with my boyfriend after work 😊 I'm generally a pho lover, so for a dinner date near Isu Station and Sadang Station, we decided to have warm pho, Vietnamese food, and some beer.

Once inside, the atmosphere was cozier than I expected and felt just like a real Vietnamese diner, so there was fun in just looking around the space, not only in the food. The soft neon signs mixed with Vietnamese-style props made it feel like a great place to relax and go on a date after work.

- ✨An exotic space that feels like a trip to Vietnam
- ✨Everything from pho to various Vietnamese dishes is delicious!
- ✨Huge portions, great value!

### Bangbaedong Ssalguksu location, hours and parking

- 📍 Location: 34 Bangbaecheon-ro 8-gil, 1st floor, Seocho-gu, Seoul, South Korea
- ⏰ Hours: Daily 11:00–21:00 (last order 20:00)

There's no parking at the restaurant, so if you're planning lunch or an evening date, it's a good idea to check parking beforehand.

## What is the atmosphere like inside Bangbaedong Ssalguksu?

![Entrance neon sign and floor-to-ceiling glass at Bangbaedong Ssalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-02-wtmqw-966.webp)

The first thing that caught my eye as soon as we arrived was the soft neon sign near the entrance. Warm lighting was visible through the floor-to-ceiling glass, and the interior mood peeked through even from outside, naturally catching passersby's attention. That purple neon gave it a different feel from a typical pho place.

Outside the entrance there were also small chairs set up for anyone waiting.

Once inside, there was a long bar-style table centered around the open kitchen. Having an open kitchen felt reassuring for hygiene, too. Apparently a lot of people eat alone here! It seems like a good spot for office workers to grab pho solo.

Next to the bar table, there are also 4-person and 2-person tables set up like this.

![Interior decorated with Vietnamese props](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-09-w97oj-966.webp)

There were props on the wall like Vietnamese food menu posters, and these small details made it feel even more like a genuine Vietnamese diner. The lighting was soft and the space cozy overall, so it seemed fine for solo dining, and comfortable for a date like ours too.

The country of origin info is also displayed like this.

Sauces, spoons, chopsticks and everything else were neatly arranged on the table, so it was comfortable to eat. When looking for good spots in Sadang, I care not just about taste but about an atmosphere that doesn't feel awkward even after sitting for a long time — and this place checked that box too.

## What two people ordered at Bangbaedong Ssalguksu, and the prices

- Brisket pho: ₩11,000
- Pineapple fried rice: ₩12,000
- Fresh spring rolls: ₩6,000
- Wingbon (fried wings): ₩6,000
- Saigon canned beer: ₩4,000 x2
- Nep Moi shot: ₩3,000

![A full table with pho, fried rice, and side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-11-euasa-966.webp)

We ordered brisket pho and pineapple fried rice, and also tried the spring rolls and wingbon. On top of that, we added Tiger beer and Nep Moi shots for a relaxed dinner 🍺 Even though there were just two of us, ordering a variety of dishes to share meant we got to experience a lot of different flavors.

## How does the brisket pho broth taste?

![A steaming bowl of brisket pho](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-12-1qyhy-966.webp)

We started with the warm brisket pho 🍜 Steam rose the moment it arrived, and just looking at it felt warming. I tasted the broth first — it was clean but had the deep flavor of a brisket-based stock.

Most importantly, the brisket on top was quite generous, and it paired well with the noodles for a nutty, savory bite.

![Pho noodles topped with brisket and bean sprouts](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-13-l63oy-m-966.webp)

The meat wasn't tough at all, so it was easy to pick up together with the noodles. The crunchy bean sprouts mixed in added a nice texture contrast to the soft noodles. With a slice of lemon and chili garnish on top, it tasted closer to the pho I had in Vietnam.

![Pho served with hoisin and sriracha sauces](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-14-z85su-966.webp)

At first I enjoyed the pho as is, but partway through I wanted to add a bit of sriracha. Mixing in a little hoisin sauce and sriracha added a subtle spiciness, changing the flavor of the same bowl of pho. With the warm broth and tender brisket, it was filling enough to work as a Sadang lunch option too — though it was also great for a leisurely evening meal.

## The pineapple fried rice: the most memorable dish

![A plate of pineapple fried rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-15-1p248-966.webp)

Of everything we ate that day, the pineapple fried rice is what personally stuck with me the most 🍍

From the moment it arrived, the fluffy fried rice served together with pineapple looked appetizing. One bite in, there was a subtle smoky char to the rice, and it was seasoned just salty enough to taste great on its own. The pineapple mixed into the fried rice was really the highlight — biting into the salty, savory rice and then hitting a piece of pineapple gave a burst of sweet, tangy flavor, and the combo worked better than expected.

![A spoonful of fried rice with a piece of pineapple](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-16-1vfin-966.webp)

My favorite way to eat it was scooping up a big spoonful of fried rice along with a piece of pineapple. The smoky fried rice and the sweet-tangy pineapple together made for a really full flavor in the mouth. At first the pineapple-and-fried-rice combo felt a little unfamiliar, but the more I ate, the more I kept reaching for it haha.

![Broth served alongside the fried rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-17-pwcdp-966.webp)

And when you order the fried rice, you get a side broth too. It's similar to the pho broth but with a slightly different feel, and it went really well alongside the fried rice. If you're visiting Bangbaedong Ssalguksu looking for good pho in Sadang, I'd recommend ordering the pineapple fried rice along with your pho to share rather than just pho alone — the two have completely different charms, and eating them together made the meal more fun.

## Sides: fresh spring rolls and wingbon chicken wings

![A plate of fresh spring rolls with visible shrimp](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-18-1fy51-966.webp)

We also tried the fresh spring rolls we ordered as a side 🥬 Inside the translucent rice paper were pho noodles, vegetables, and shrimp packed generously — the plump shrimp were visible through the wrapper and looked appetizing right away. Having the springy shrimp made these good to nibble on between bites of the warmer, richer pho and fried rice.

![Spring rolls with sweet and tangy dipping sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-19-z0294-966.webp)

Dipping them lightly in the accompanying sauce added a sweet and tangy note that cleaned up the palate nicely.

![A plate of golden fried wingbon](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-20-l3axj-966.webp)

We also ordered wingbon (fried chicken wings) to go with the beer 🍗 Fried to a nice golden brown, the wingbon had a crispy outside and a juicy inside — great texture. Biting through the crunchy batter revealed tender chicken underneath, making it a solid beer snack.

![Wingbon with a spicy dipping sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-21-kiuhf-966.webp)

Dipping them in the accompanying sauce added a spicy kick for a different experience. Being a completely different kind of dish from the pho or fried rice, they were great to pick at in between — and pairing them with the cold Tiger beer was a pretty good combo 🍺

## Pairing dinner with Tiger beer and a Nep Moi shot

![Beer served alongside Vietnamese food](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-22-cew4h-966.webp)

Delicious Vietnamese food really can't be complete without beer haha. We ordered Tiger beer along with Nep Moi shots to go with the food. Having a cold Tiger beer before eating the pho or wingbon somehow made the food go down even better.

![A beer glass and a Nep Moi shot glass](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-23-h2j9s-966.webp)

Clinking glasses with my boyfriend and chatting over good food gradually washed away the tiredness from work.

![Enjoying dinner in a space with a local Vietnamese feel](https://img.superchart.com/images/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date/bangbae-rice-noodle-saduang-evening-date-24-v8jpq-966.webp)

With the restaurant's local Vietnamese feel, enjoying food and drinks together made it feel like a brief trip. If you're looking for a good Sadang restaurant that offers more than just a meal — one where you can also enjoy the atmosphere — this place fits the bill.

## Final verdict on Bangbaedong Ssalguksu

Bangbaedong Ssalguksu was a solid choice near Sadang when you want Vietnamese food paired with an exotic atmosphere. The space itself is cozy, with props everywhere reminiscent of a real Vietnamese diner, so there's fun in just looking around, beyond the food.

In particular, the pineapple fried rice — with its smoky, savory rice and the sweet-tangy pop of pineapple — was the most memorable dish of the day 🍍 Adding Tiger beer and Nep Moi on top made it feel like a proper visit to a Vietnamese restaurant.

It'd also be a good pick for a Sadang lunch when you want something a little different from usual. If you're hunting for good pho in Sadang, I'd suggest ordering the fried rice and side dishes along with the warm pho for a relaxed meal 😊 Visiting with a partner like we did, enjoying good food and a beer while chatting, worked out really well — I'd love to come back next time I'm craving Vietnamese food nearby.
