I went to check out a Yongsan restaurant yesterday since I was already heading to the 2026 Hanwha Seoul International Fireworks Festival!! Hyeonseonine is THE famous name when it comes to Yongsan Station food, and I finally made it there. Anyone who loves tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) can't not know this Yongridan-gil spot — let's get into the Hyeonseonine review, haha.

The weather was really nice yesterday, and because of the Seoul International Fireworks Festival there were SO many people out haha. I planned to eat lunch at a Yongridan-gil restaurant beforehand and then head to the fireworks. Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is easy to find right out of Sinyongsan Station Exit 6.

## Register your wait on the in-store CatchTable

The moment we got to Sinyongsan Station we ran straight to Hyeonseonine, and there was already a huge line outside... As famous as it is for Yongsan Station food, everyone clearly knows about it! It's so popular that even delivery orders are pouring in constantly lol.

When you get to this Yongsan hotspot, register your wait on the CatchTable kiosk INSIDE the store first! Don't just stand there watching the outside crowd and assume you're in line haha. You can register separately for jeukseok tteokbokki (made-to-order tteokbokki) or the original tteokbokki. Estimated wait was around 10–15 minutes per party.

The inside of Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch is pretty spacious, and there were tons of people eating in. Still, since it's tteokbokki, the wait isn't as long as you'd expect!

Every time I searched for Yongsan Station restaurants, Hyeonseonine kept showing up, and I was so curious — finally made it here!! First time trying a tteokbokki place with 10,000+ reviews.

We registered our wait and ended up waiting about 30 minutes! We got seated earlier than the time shown on CatchTable, though!!

## What's in the ₩26,000 Hyeonseonine Combo Set

When your turn comes up, staff call your number at the entrance. Once called, you get seated and order through the kiosk!! We debated between the made-to-order tteokbokki and ended up going with the Hyeonseonine Combo Set. It's ₩26,000 and comes with tteokbokki, sundae (Korean blood sausage), fritters, mini gimbap, and odeng (fish cake). If you want the full bunsik set experience, this is the one to get!!

Apparently if you leave a review they'll give you a cold slush drink or a tteokbokki size-up, haha.

The self-serve bar had fry crumbs and pickled radish, plus aprons, side plates, utensils, salt, and soy sauce.

Being such a hot Yongsan tteokbokki spot, there were also tons of delivery and takeout orders going out... Felt even busier because of the fireworks festival.

### Upgrading to the Hyeonseonine Beer Set

Since so many people around us were having beer with their tteokbokki, we added two draft beers lol. Switched it up to the Hyeonseonine Beer Set! You can't resist the tteokbokki-and-beer combo,,,

## How was the tteokbokki, odeng, fritters, sundae, and mini gimbap?

We didn't wait long before our order came out. Tteokbokki, odeng, fritters, sundae, mini gimbap — the two of us ate until we were completely stuffed!! Felt like a proper hearty bunsik feast for the first time in a while.

There were 3 pieces of odeng, and the fritters included fried seaweed roll, sweet potato, squid, vegetable, and gunmandu (pan-fried dumplings). Nice variety in the spread, haha.

Honestly, since Hyeonseonine is famous for its tteokbokki, that's what I was most curious about — and I liked that you can choose your own spice level. I lean toward slightly spicy so I ordered medium, and it was just spicy enough, perfectly to my taste. Hyeonseonine's tteokbokki has that nostalgic old-school flavor.

Ordering fritters after so long brought back memories, lol. I dipped mine in soy sauce.

The odeng had rice cake in it too, so it was almost like mul-tteok (rice cake in broth)!! Even the odeng broth was perfect.

The mini gimbap really was mini, but the set portion was surprisingly big — we ended up totally full..?

We asked for extra offal with the sundae and got a generous portion. Pretty good deal for the price, no..? There's clearly a reason Hyeonseonine is such a famous Yongsan Station restaurant.

Back in school I only ever ate bunsik, and now I'm the kind of adult who has bunsik AND beer. Time really flies, haha. Definitely got a full dose of nostalgia at this Yongridan-gil favorite, Hyeonseonine.

Dipping the fritters, sundae, and mini gimbap into the tteokbokki sauce was so good we practically inhaled the whole thing.

You could tell the oil gets changed often — the fritters were perfectly golden brown. The squid inside the squid fritter was really big too.

## Next time, the made-to-order tteokbokki

Even though I just ate tteokbokki yesterday, it was good enough that I'm already craving it again. Next time I stop by Yongsan Station, I want to try Hyeonseonine's jeukseok (made-to-order) tteokbokki.

That wraps up my review of thoroughly demolishing the Hyeonseonine Combo Set at Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch. If you love tteokbokki, definitely stop by when you're in Yongsan!! Highly recommend it as a Yongsan date course. We filled up on a hearty meal and then headed off to the Hanwha Seoul International Fireworks Festival :)
