## In short

52 Degree Kalguksu Oido Main Branch is a Jeju-style Korean restaurant in Oido, Siheung, Gyeonggi, where seafood pot kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) is served with a view of the sea. A couple arrived at 11:05 on a weekend and shared two servings of seafood pot kalguksu, adding a 5,000-won vegetable topping and a 6,000-won beef brisket topping, with the broth refilled every time they asked. The window seats were already full, but 52 Degree Kalguksu still made a satisfying stop on an Oido drive date.

My husband and I have both been slammed lately, barely finding time for each other. We finally matched schedules last weekend and took a drive to Oido to clear our heads.

My husband would wake up from a dead sleep for noodles or dumpling soup, so I brought him to 52 Degree Kalguksu, a well-known spot in Oido. You get to look out at the open sea while eating kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) loaded with fresh seafood — a treat for the eyes and the mouth. Here's how our visit went, and honestly, it was a great date spot.

## Why does 52 Degree Kalguksu in Oido look like a Jeju stone house?

![Basalt stone-wall style exterior of 52 Degree Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-02-ygo0j-900.webp)

Even before we stepped inside, the exterior caught our eye — it looks like a piece of Jeju Island transplanted here. The whole building is done up in basalt stone-wall style, visible from a distance.

![Dol hareubang statue by the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-03-1jzbe-900.webp)

By the entrance there are cute dol hareubang (stone grandfather statues) and haenyeo (women divers) net baskets as props, which really makes it feel like a seaside restaurant in Jeju haha

![Chairs and check-in kiosk in the indoor waiting area](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-05-1x95y-900.webp)

![CatchTable waiting check-in tablet](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-06-9jp87-900.webp)

Right as you walk in, there's an indoor waiting area with CatchTable tablets and chairs. Since this is a popular spot with lots of waiting customers, having a spacious indoor waiting area with plenty of chairs and a CatchTable check-in kiosk means you can wait comfortably no matter the weather haha

## Oido sea view seats: what time do the window tables fill up?

![First-floor hall seating with stone walls](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-07-16h0y-900.webp)

![Tablet ordering system at each table](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-09-1hh3k-900.webp)

The interior walls also keep the stone-wall theme going, with cushy sofa-style seating and a tablet at every table for easy ordering. It's spacious enough for groups, spread across two floors haha

![Second floor with a large window looking out on the Oido sea](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-10-1fq3z-900.webp)
*View of the second floor*

The second floor is especially charming — huge windows give you an ocean view of the Oido sea and mudflats in one glance haha Eating kalguksu while looking out at that cool sea view is a treat for both eyes and mouth. If you want a window seat, I'd recommend arriving slightly before opening. We got there around 11:05am and the window seats were already full — a bummer, but we sat right next to them instead lol

![Photos of visiting celebrities on the restaurant wall](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-11-ffeqe-900.webp)

Like any good local favorite, the walls are covered in photos of celebrities who've visited lol Eum Moon-seok, who I've really been into lately, apparently came by too lol

## Side dishes and the barley rice served before the meal

![Basic side dishes of geotjeori and yeolmu kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-13-1jet1-900.webp)

Once we ordered two servings of the signature seafood pot kalguksu, the basic side dishes came out — crunchy geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), cool yeolmu (young radish) kimchi, and barley rice as a pre-meal appetizer.

They'd already mixed sesame oil into the barley rice, so topping it with yeolmu kimchi and a drizzle of chojang (vinegared chili sauce) and mixing it together was the perfect appetite starter.

## Seafood pot kalguksu for two: the right order to eat it in

Next came the seafood pot kalguksu, arriving in a long metal pot packed full of ingredients.

The noodles come out separately haha ✔️ How to enjoy the seafood kalguksu & seafood ramyeon

![Instructions for how to enjoy the seafood kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-16-1itxm-900.webp)

- Once the broth starts boiling, eat the octopus and beef brisket first.
- Once it's boiling, flip the crab once.
- Eat the cooked shellfish, abalone, shrimp, dumplings, vegetables and enoki mushrooms.
- Add the noodles and boil, then reduce the heat once cooked.

Whole octopus legs, fresh abalone, shrimp, clams, mussels, along with savory beef brisket and dumplings were all piled on generously. Enoki mushrooms, bok choy, bean sprouts and other fresh vegetables plus a plump blue crab filled the pot, promising a rich, deep broth.

They turned on the burner and poured in a full ladle of broth haha Squeal~~ it starts bubbling away deliciously♡

![Whole octopus legs cooked in the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-18-10kxj-900.webp)

Plump octopus♡ The perfectly cooked octopus legs were soft yet chewy — the best.

Fresh, chewy, fragrant shrimp♡ Since they were raw shrimp, peeling and eating them was so juicy and delicious haha

Fresh, clean-tasting abalone♡ It was so fresh that the more you chewed, the more its clean, nutty flavor spread through your mouth.

![A blue crab packed with meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-19-1dov6-900.webp)

A blue crab packed with meat♡ The crab was firmly filled with meat too, adding deep umami to the broth haha If it had been frozen crab it would've fallen apart in the water, but this one stayed firm haha The meat was sweet and delicious.

## Adding vegetables and beef brisket, plus free broth refills

Besides the seafood, wrapping beef brisket with crunchy bean sprouts and dipping it in sauce was a special treat too♡ Beef brisket cooked in the seafood broth is seriously amazing haha It was so good we added more vegetables and brisket lol

![Added vegetable and beef brisket toppings](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-22-88l9d-900.webp)

We added one vegetable topping and one beef brisket topping and got this much haha We happily ate it all haha

Now let's add more broth and put in the noodles that came with the meal haha ✔️ They refill the broth whenever you need it — just ask. They also kept checking in to ask if we needed more broth first. That was really nice lol

![Noodles boiled in the broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-23-yy4er-900.webp)

Wow~♡ Isn't the visual amazing?^^ Chewy noodles with a cool, rich broth♡ Plus the tasty geotjeori^^ Pure happiness♡♡♡

![A bowl of kalguksu with rich broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides/oido-kalguksu-couple-drive-sides-24-wnuyb-900.webp)

They say too much broth isn't great for you, but this one's basically medicine lol Seafood, all kinds of vegetables, and beef brisket all simmered into the broth — you can probably already imagine how good it tastes♡♡♡ lol We finished off the meal perfectly with kalguksu boiled in that delicious broth.

## Is 52 Degree Kalguksu worth the Oido drive? Final verdict

52 Degree Kalguksu in Oido is easy to visit thanks to its well-set-up indoor waiting area, and it's a place where you can enjoy seafood pot kalguksu while taking in a cool sea view through the windows. Between the Jeju-style decor, fresh seafood, and generous portions, I'd highly recommend it for an Oido date or a family outing.
