Such a welcome place for anyone who, like me, goes out alone for something tasty 🩵 I love Japanese pork cutlets so much. I much prefer crisp Japanese-style tonkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlet) to the Western-style Korean pork cutlet version 💚 It’s in the direction of the Suwon Tax Office from Suwon Station. There are counter-style seats, so sitting alone felt natural, and I could focus on my food without worrying about the people around me. I’m already very good at focusing on food anyway, haha. I went at dinner time, and it had such an easygoing atmosphere for a casual solo meal that I wanted to come back next time I’m craving pork cutlet alone. They really give you a lot of rice. It’s always a little disappointing when there isn’t enough rice with pork cutlet, but the portion here was generous, which I loved. I’m the type who eats a fair amount of rice too, so this was quietly very moving. With the pork cutlet and rice together, it made for a filling meal—and it wasn’t just ordinary miso soup (fermented soybean paste soup), but delicious miso soup loaded with pork. You can watch them cook in the open space, and the sound of the pork cutlet sizzling in oil was oddly satisfying. Sitting quietly alone and listening to that sizzle-sizzle katsu ASMR somehow made me even hungrier, haha. Since you get both loin and tenderloin on one plate, it’s the perfect menu for someone like me who loves both. The loin has a wonderfully nutty richness, while the tenderloin is softer and cleaner-tasting, so it was fun comparing the two cuts as I ate. Loin today? Tenderloin? The open kitchen and the care that seemed to go into every dish made me like the place even more. So rather than just a pork-cutlet meal to fill you up, it felt like enjoying a properly made pork cutlet in comfort—that feeling. They fry it right in front of you, and the pork-cutlet aroma wafts through the air 😊 It put me in a good mood, and the clean open kitchen made it even nicer because I could eat with confidence.
