After touring wedding halls with my fiancé, I was completely wiped out and craving something spicy and filling! So that day, with hot soup on my mind, we went for budae jjigae (army stew). It was so much tastier than I expected that I really wanted to recommend it to anyone planning to visit Paju or Heyri Art Village :) Today, I’m sharing Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae, where the spicy broth really hit the spot.

## Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae in Paju: Location and visitor information

The address is Unit 112, Roadville, 506 Pilseung-ro, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. It is open daily from 09:30 to 20:30, and both parking and reservations are available.

Mom's Uijeongbu Budaejjigae has a separate parking lot behind the restaurant, so it was easy to visit by car. Since many people get around Paju and Heyri Art Village by car, convenient parking was a pretty major plus.

After parking, you can enter directly through the back door or walk around to use the front entrance. We went around to the front and came in through the main door.

## A family-friendly atmosphere and kiosk ordering

The restaurant was clean overall, with plenty of seating, so it felt like an easy place to enjoy a meal. High chairs were available too, so families visiting with children looked like they could dine comfortably. You order using the kiosk at the entrance, which made it easy to browse the menu and place our order :)

## Why we chose spicy budae jjigae and ramen noodles

There were plenty of budae jjigae options, including classic, spicy, aged-kimchi, and brisket versions, plus dakgalbi (spicy stir-fried chicken) for when you are craving meat. After our wedding hall tour, we wanted spicy soup and carbs, so we ordered the spicy budae jjigae.

At last, our spicy budae jjigae arrived! It was packed with ham, sausage, green onions, and bean sprouts, and the moment I saw it, I knew it was totally my kind of meal.

Once it started bubbling away on the table, the aroma spread everywhere and I immediately started thinking about rice. True to its name, the broth had a pleasant spicy kick, but it was not just aggressively hot.

The savory flavor drawn out from the ham, sausage, and all the other ingredients made the broth taste quite rich. It deepened the longer it boiled, so it somehow got more delicious with every bite.

You can’t have budae jjigae without ramen noodles, right? Even though I’m trying to watch what I eat, I couldn’t resist and ordered ramen noodles too haha. Once they cooked in the stew, they soaked up all that broth and were, of course, delicious.

## A satisfying meal with spicy broth and rice

We quickly fished out the ramen noodles, then ate rice with the spicy broth too—such a genuinely satisfying meal! The broth was not overly heavy or salty; it had a nice spicy kick and lots of savoriness, so the rice went down much more easily than I expected :)

### What I liked and whether I would return

- I loved that the broth was spicy without being overly intense, and the generous ham, sausage, and other ingredients made for a filling meal.
- The separate parking lot was convenient too.
- Personally, there was nothing that really disappointed me. Still, adding ramen noodles to budae jjigae makes it quite filling, so I recommend going when you are hungry haha.
- I would like to come back on a day when I’m in Paju or Heyri Art Village and craving spicy soup.
- I recommend it to anyone looking for a filling Korean meal near Heyri Art Village, anyone who likes spicy, peppery broth, or anyone wanting a comfortable place to dine with family or a partner :)

A truly hearty meal of spicy broth, ramen noodles, and rice!
