## In short

Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is a Korean restaurant in Yongin, Gyeonggi, serving shabu kalguksu and house-made noodles. After shopping, my family shared three portions of shabu kalguksu and the limited Jochiwon peach bibim mandu. Jangwongap Kalguksu is the place I find myself returning to whenever I crave good kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) in Yongin, especially near Giheung Lotte Outlet. This time too, we stopped by after a family shopping trip to Giheung Lotte Outlet because we wanted a hearty meal.

I love this place so much that I have lost count of how many times I have returned. With its spacious, pleasant dining room, easy parking, and satisfying flavor and portions, Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is also the first place that comes to mind when I am looking for a good restaurant in Gomae-dong!

Jangwongap is a popular restaurant in Gomae-dong, Yongin, close to IKEA, Lotte Outlet, and Living Power Center, so it is in a great spot to visit after shopping or a day out. There is a large dedicated parking lot in front, which made visiting by car very convenient.

## A spacious, clean dining room

The restaurant was spacious and comfortable. There are group tables and high chairs, so it would be great for a family gathering or group meal. Even during busy hours, there were plenty of staff, and the service was quick and kind.

You can order at a tablet at each table, and there are instructions on how to eat everything, so it was easy even for a first visit.

In particular, the house-made noodles are kneaded a thousand times using a noodle-making method with 60 years of tradition, and are nicknamed “cheese noodles.” Their standout feature is their mozzarella-like stretchiness and chew from the moment they are fresh. I was also impressed that this noodle technology was selected for a national support project run by the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development and Hanbat National University in 2025, beating odds of about 20 to 1.

## Shabu kalguksu menu and prices

Jangwongap in Yongin aims to be an “omakase of the kalguksu world,” putting together each bowl so you can enjoy it in a special, carefully considered way.

Its signature dishes include chadol minari wrap shabu kalguksu at ₩15,500, live abalone and brisket shabu kalguksu at ₩22,000, shabu kalguksu at ₩12,000, and basic kalguksu at ₩10,000. There are also plenty of add-ons, including shrimp wontons and dumplings, brisket, sirloin, and mushrooms with minari (water parsley).

You can choose red broth, white broth, or mala broth according to your preference; mala broth costs an extra ₩1,000 per person.

## Uiseong garlic kimchi made fresh every day

They say the Uiseong garlic kimchi is made in-house three times a day with a secret broth made from natural ingredients and domestic Uiseong garlic. It was crisp and clean-tasting, and went so well with the kalguksu. I also loved being able to get more from the self-serve bar if we needed it.

## The shabu kalguksu and peach bibim mandu my family ordered

My family ordered three portions of shabu kalguksu and the newly released limited Jochiwon peach bibim mandu (spicy mixed dumplings). The shabu kalguksu came with 60 g of sirloin, vegetables and mushrooms, house-made kalguksu noodles, and kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) perilla oil fried rice, so the table was wonderfully full.

### Red-broth shabu kalguksu

First, the shabu kalguksu. I chose the red broth, which was gently spicy and savory, and I kept reaching for it. The big pot arrived piled high with vegetables and mushrooms, and just looking at it made me feel satisfied.

I loved how the broth grew deeper as the meat, vegetables, and mushrooms cooked into it. The sirloin was tender and juicy, and pairing it with fragrant minari made each bite feel fresh. The mushrooms added their springy texture too, so there were lots of flavors and textures to enjoy.

And as you would expect from a great kalguksu spot in Yongin, the noodles were the most memorable part! They were bouncy and chewy, then softened beautifully the more I chewed. Their exceptional elasticity made the nickname “cheese noodles” make perfect sense.

If you are looking for good kalguksu in Yongin, I really recommend trying these house-made noodles. They were so soft with such a lovely texture that the restaurant absolutely holds its own as a Yongin kalguksu destination.

To finish, the kkakdugi perilla oil fried rice was delicious, combining the crunch of kkakdugi with the nutty flavor of perilla oil. The crisp radish and fragrant oil were so good, and ending on that savory note after the spicy broth made the meal feel complete.

### Jochiwon peach bibim mandu, limited to 20 servings a day

Jochiwon peach bibim mandu is limited to 20 servings a day. It is a popular dish of fresh vegetables tossed in a bibim sauce made with Jochiwon peaches, served with freshly fried dumplings.

From the first bite, a fresh, sweet peach flavor gently spread through my mouth, and I immediately thought, this combination is really delicious. The crisp vegetables, sweet-and-tangy seasoning, and crunchy dumplings worked brilliantly together, and I would recommend it as a great restaurant in Yongin’s Giheung-gu too.

## Final thoughts on this return visit, including dessert

At Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch, we could enjoy coffee, traditional snacks, and misutgaru (multigrain powder drink) after the meal, so dessert was satisfying too. With generous portions and great flavor, plus a spacious, pleasant room and easy parking, it was a comfortable place for a meal in Yongin’s Giheung-gu.

It is close to IKEA, Lotte Outlet, and Living Power Center, making it an easy stop when you are nearby. It was satisfying for a family meal too, and with chewy house-made noodles, generous shabu, and nutty fried rice all in one meal, I definitely recommend visiting Jangwongap Kalguksu if you are looking for a good restaurant in Yongin Giheung or a great kalguksu restaurant in Yongin Giheung!
