The very first place Heeddungbari and Yeddungbari went as soon as they landed in Busan was Gang Galbitang Seomyeon.

The first meal of a trip is kind of important, haha😆😆 We didn't want to eat something mediocre and feel weird right from the start of the trip, so we wanted something hot and filling. Long story short, we picked really well for our first meal here, hehe😆😆

## Visiting at noon on a weekday: how long is the wait?

We just walked in around noon with no reservation, and it was full the moment we arrived, so we waited about 10 minutes.

But maybe because it's a galbitang and gukbap place, turnover was pretty fast, so it didn't feel like we waited that long. While waiting, we noticed the customer mix was really diverse.

There were quite a few people eating alone, some older folks, some who clearly looked like tourists visiting Busan, and plenty of locals who seemed to have come in for lunch nearby.

Heeddungbari gets a feeling right away at places like this — ah, this is the kind of spot locals keep coming back to, a real neighborhood favorite, haha. Inside was clean with quite a lot of tables, but during lunch hour it was almost always full.

Solo diners were eating naturally too, so it looked like a comfortable spot for anyone looking for a solo dining restaurant in Seomyeon, Busan. The staff all looked pretty young but were full of energy 🫡🫡 Even with customers constantly coming in and the place super busy, they were kind and cheerful when serving us. Staying kind during a rush isn't easy, so this was another point in their favor! 👍 ❤️

They even sell mealkits, and takeout/delivery orders kept coming in too...

## What we ordered at Gang Galbitang Seomyeon and what it cost

What Heeddungbari and Yeddungbari ordered was

Heeddungbari got galbitang with the Jeju jungmyeon noodles added on top, and Yeddungbari ordered galbi noodles. Galbitang already comes with glass noodles as standard, but Heeddungbari is a noodle lover so we added the jungmyeon too, haha.

### Side dishes and the lemon soy dipping sauce

The side dishes came out looking clean, and overall everything went well together. Especially the kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi)! Take a bite of hot, rich galbitang, then a bite of kkakdugi — that's it, game over, haha. For a galbitang or gukbap place, honestly the kkakdugi matters a lot. Here it paired so well with the broth that we kept eating them together.

And having lemon slices in the soy sauce dip for the meat was a nice touch. Instead of just a plain salty soy sauce, the hint of lemon made eating the meat feel fresh and clean — I really liked that.

## Gang Galbitang Seomyeon galbitang: how were the broth and the ribs?

Finally, the galbitang arrived!

At first glance you could see the ribs were huge and the portion was generous. I tried the broth first — wow... the broth was seriously deep and rich.

It wasn't a plain, mild galbitang broth — the meat flavor was properly infused, and my body warmed up the moment I took the first spoonful.

This was our very first meal after landing in Busan, and it felt like we were doing proper self-care from the start of the trip.

And the meat!

Picking the meat off the rib bone, it was genuinely so tender. It came off effortlessly with no chewiness, and the portion of meat was pretty generous too, so one bowl left you really full. Dipping a piece in the soy sauce with a hint of lemon on top made it taste clean, so it just kept going in🤤🤤🤤 There are also glass noodles included in the galbitang by default.

The glass noodles soak up the broth beautifully, so eating them together with the meat is also delicious, haha. Rib, then noodles, then a sip of broth, then kkakdugi — repeat infinitely.

### Are the Jeju jungmyeon noodles worth adding for 2,500 won?

And the Jeju jungmyeon noodles Heeddungbari added separately! Adding this was such a good call.

The noodles were soft and chewy, fully soaked in the galbitang broth, so it didn't feel like just adding extra noodles — it felt like eating an entirely separate bowl of galbi noodles, haha.

The soft texture unique to jungmyeon noodles went really well with the rich galbitang broth. If you're a noodle lover coming here for galbitang, I'd definitely recommend adding the Jeju jungmyeon.

### Galbi noodles, 13,500 won

The galbi noodles Yeddungbari had were also delicious, with a rich broth.

Since the base broth itself, same as the galbitang, is already rich, even once it soaks into the noodles the flavor doesn't get bland — you can properly taste the meaty broth even eating it with noodles.

If you love noodles, a bowl of galbi noodles alone would be filling enough. Plenty of meat, rich broth, glass noodles included, and we even added jungmyeon on top, haha.

After finishing a bowl, Heeddungbari genuinely felt full and satisfied right from the start of the trip. Since the broth is on the deep, rich side, it'd also be great for a hangover cure the day after drinking, or on a chilly day.

If you're driving, you can use the Nice Park Blue Parking Lot.

According to the store's signage, if you spend over ₩20,000 you get 30 minutes of parking covered, one car per table. Don't forget to grab the parking discount voucher at the restaurant to get the discount! It's across the main street from GS25, and if you keep walking straight from the front of the restaurant, it's right there.

If you visit during lunch like we did, it can get crowded and the area busy, so if you're driving, it'd be more convenient to save the parking lot's address beforehand, haha.

## The self-service bar and free coffee after the meal

The self-bar has kkakdugi, various side dishes, chili peppers, garlic, and more prepared, so you can help yourself to more if you need it.

Heeddungbari of course went for a refill since the kkakdugi was so good, haha. After the meal, there's a coffee machine so you can pull yourself a cup, plus a water dispenser and ice maker, which made wrapping up the meal convenient.

## Is Gang Galbitang Seomyeon worth it as the first meal of a Busan trip?

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon, visited as our first meal right after arriving in Busan. We came at noon with no reservation and it was full so we waited a bit, but turnover was fast, and the customer mix — from solo diners to older folks, tourists, and locals — really gave off that long-loved, true local favorite feeling.

Heeddungbari was completely satisfied with the deep, rich broth, the tender ribs, and the soft Jeju jungmyeon noodles!

All the side dishes were great too, and the kkakdugi paired perfectly with the galbitang, so we started our Busan trip with a really satisfying first meal 😆 The staff were kind and energetic even during the rush, which was great, and I'd love to stop by again next time we're in Busan. Heeddungbari would definitely come back 💛
