## In short

Munpocha is a Korean-style pocha (drinking spot) in Gwonseon-dong, Suwon. Three friends ordered dongtae jjigae (pollack stew), pork dwaeji duruchigi (spicy stir-fry), and two servings of butter fried rice for about ₩50,000 total, plus complimentary starters of seaweed soup, acorn jelly, and bean sprouts. The portions are generous, making it a solid pick for dinner and drinks together in Gwonseon-dong.

## Munpocha: a proper Korean meal in Gwonseon-dong, a hearty dinner with friends

Today I want to introduce a bar in Gwonseon-dong that I personally like so much I've already visited 2-3 times. Even on my first visit I was happy with the taste, the generous portions, and the owner's friendly service. Every time I go I like it more, so this time I came back with friends for dinner too. It's Munpocha, located in Gwonseon-dong, Suwon :)

## The place that comes to mind when you can't decide on dinner at a Gwonseon-dong bar

I had dinner plans with a friend that day and was trying to figure out where to go, so I picked Munpocha. Since I'd already been a few times, I had a good idea of the taste, and I wanted to introduce it to my friends too.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in Gwonseon-dong, but among the places I've tried, this one stood out for really generous portions and great value for money. It's especially good for a night when you want a proper dinner at a Gwonseon-dong bar.

I also like the interior, which has a pocha (street tent bar) feel with silver tables and warm lighting — not the overly loud bar vibe, but a comfortable place to chat with friends over a meal.

## A Gwonseon-dong bar pocha where 3 people can eat well for about ₩50,000

This time three of us went, and we ordered:

- ✔ Pollack stew (dongtae jjigae)
- ✔ Pork stir-fry (dwaeji duruchigi)
- ✔ Butter fried rice, 2 servings

With all that, the bill came to about ₩50,000! Given how expensive eating out has gotten these days, being able to eat this well and have a drink for three people felt really satisfying. That's probably why I keep coming back to Munpocha among the bars in Gwonseon-dong. The menu is varied enough that it works whether you're there for a meal, a first round of drinks, or a second-round spot.

## A filling Korean meal at this Gwonseon-dong spot: the pollack stew

First up, the pollack stew we ordered craving something warm! On a slightly chilly day, or with a drink in hand, there's nothing like a spicy, hot broth. The soup was refreshing yet spicy, with plenty of pollack in it — more than enough for three people to share.

Every spoonful felt comforting, which made it great both as a drinking snack and as a dinner dish. If you're looking for a warm, hearty Korean dish in Gwonseon-dong, I'd recommend the pollack stew too :)

## Just right for dinner at a Gwonseon-dong bar: the pork stir-fry

And the pork stir-fry (dwaeji duruchigi) we really enjoyed that day! The seasoning wasn't too intense — sweet and spicy in a way that goes well with rice, so I kept reaching for more. The meat was generous and the portion bigger than expected, plenty for the three of us.

Munpocha is technically a bar, but I like it even more because there are so many dishes good enough to eat as a full meal. If you're looking for dinner at a Gwonseon-dong bar, don't just think about drinking snacks — try the hearty Korean dishes too.

## Can't skip the butter fried rice at this Gwonseon-dong bar pocha

The pork stir-fry and pollack stew alone were plenty, but of course you can't skip fried rice, haha. We ordered the butter fried rice in two servings. The subtle, savory butter aroma came through nicely, and it paired really well with the other dishes — especially with the spicy pork stir-fry.

Even with three of us plus two servings of butter fried rice, we finished it all happily :) If you want a full meal on top of drinks at a Gwonseon-dong bar pocha, Munpocha's menu lineup is a great fit.

## Also memorable from last time: the boiled squid

This wasn't my first visit to Munpocha, so I still remember dishes from previous trips — one of them being ojingeo sukhoe (lightly boiled squid). It wasn't chewy, but moist and mild, going well with chojang (vinegared chili paste), and it made for an easy, low-pressure drinking snack.

Next time, on top of the pollack stew and pork stir-fry I had this visit, I'm planning to order the boiled squid again haha. The fact that there's always something new I want to try again is one of Munpocha's strengths.

## A Gwonseon-dong spot with a wide range, from Korean dishes to drinking snacks

Munpocha's menu spans stews and soups, stir-fried dishes, boiled seafood, fried snacks, and dried side dishes, so there's always something different to pick each visit. Even the complimentary starters — seaweed soup, acorn jelly, bean sprouts — feel like a warm, homely lineup that makes a good first impression.

Above all, after visiting 2-3 times, what struck me most is not just the taste but the truly generous portions. Combined with the friendly service, it naturally makes me want to come back.

## Munpocha: final thoughts :)

There's a clear reason I've already been back 2-3 times.

- ✔ The food tastes great
- ✔ The portions are generous
- ✔ The prices are reasonable
- ✔ The owner's service is great
- ✔ You can handle both dinner and drinks in one visit

It's a good place to drop by for a casual dinner with friends that naturally turns into a drink, and just as good if you start with drinks and want a hearty Korean dish to go with it. If you're looking for a bar pocha in Gwonseon-dong, or a place in Gwonseon-dong for a good dinner with a drink, I'd recommend Munpocha :) I'll be back next time to try something new haha. If you want a hearty, delicious Korean meal and drinks in Gwonseon-dong, Suwon, give Munpocha a try!
