I've always liked seeking out Indian food, and whenever the craving hits I go find a good Indian restaurant. Today I was in Pangyo for work and passed by a really striking Indian restaurant on the way, so I stepped in. I ended up at Bombay Broy Pangyo, known as a Pangyo lunch spot for its clean yet distinctive menu. The moment I walked in, what caught my eye was the interior — upscale but keeping the sophisticated feel of India itself.

## The atmosphere and seating at Bombay Broy Pangyo

Soft lighting paired with a neatly arranged table layout made it obvious right away this was a nice-atmosphere kind of place. The spacing between tables was generous too, making it great for a private conversation over a meal. It seemed like a popular Pangyo date-course spot as well — there were couples there when we visited, drawn in by the same tidy, unique atmosphere — and further inside there was solid group seating too, making it just as fitting for a Pangyo work dinner.

That atmosphere alone had my expectations rising even before the food arrived.

## Ordering the lunch A course — chicken curry and butter curry

Once we were seated and looked over the menu, we went with the lunch course menu. The course lineup was so varied it took some thought, but since curry and naan are always our go-to mains, the A course was the obvious best pick. There were plenty of other options too — set courses for 2–3 people and for 4 or more, in a range of combinations for either lunch or dinner.

We ordered the A course, which was perfect for lunch, and went with the chicken curry and butter curry on the staff's recommendation. And of course, the mango lassi — never skippable — we ordered separately.

### Salad, pickles, and mango lassi

Once the order went in, they brought out salad and pickles for the table. The oriental sauce had a soft sweetness that made it an easy appetizer, and the portion was just right while waiting for the curry and naan.

In the meantime, I had the mango lassi, and it tasted genuinely authentic. I always order a lassi without fail, and this one was never a letdown.

## Curry, naan and rice — plenty for two

Before we'd even finished the appetizer salad, the curry, rice and naan were brought out. The portions of rice, curry and naan were more than generous for two people. In fact, by the time we finished, we were too full to eat all the rice. The naan came glistening with butter brushed on top, looking irresistible, and the aroma of the curry hit the nose in a way that really sparked the appetite.

### A curry mild on spice

When I dipped the naan into the curry, it was different from the Indian restaurants I usually go to, where the spices tend to hit strong. Here, the flavor was gentle and mild without being sharp on the palate, while the Indian aroma still came through clearly. It's a flavor that really anyone could enjoy without feeling intimidated, even trying Indian food for the first time. The naan was chewy too, without being greasy or tasting like raw flour — it had that warm, well-baked bread quality.

I've tried plenty of Indian food around Korea, but this was the first time I felt a place had so well understood the Korean palate while still keeping that genuine, likable Indian aroma without any off-putting edge. Maybe that's why it disappeared so fast — I barely noticed finishing it all. The smooth, deeply flavored curry sauce was a perfect match with the freshly baked naan.

Today's Indian food in Pangyo turned into a new kind of experience. Between the upscale feel of the interior and the care put into the lunch A course, I stayed satisfied the whole way through the meal.
