## Why I chose Aiva Hair near Sanbon Station

Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom is a hair salon on the 3rd floor of the Baekun Building near Sanbon Station, and this time I got a design layered cut and the Shiseido full-care clinic. Lately every time I looked in the mirror I wondered why my hair looked so heavy and stuffy, haha ㅠㅠ My hair is naturally curly and thick, so I get a straight perm regularly, and it was just about time for another one — the curl was coming back up at the roots and my whole head looked pretty messy. But actually getting the perm felt like a hassle so I mostly just tied it back in a bun lol. Then one day I saw a photo of myself and realized my hair looked way too heavy and stuffy. Because it's so thick, when I let it down, the bottom half kind of clumped together into one big mass.

So this time, without giving up much length, I decided to lighten things up a bit and went to get a layered cut at Aiva Hair near Sanbon Station.

### A mother-daughter visit to Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom

One of the perks of having a daughter — she gets to come along to the salon with me! She'd been wearing a blunt bob that hit just above her chin, but as it grew out it hit that awkward in-between stage. So we went together.

## What is Aiva Hair Sanbon-jeom like inside?

I'm still a salon nomad in Sanbon — haven't found one I stick to — so this was my first time at Aiva Hair.

But the space was really clean and comfortable, and the staff were all super friendly :)

## Consultation: a layered cut for thick, curly hair

Before the cut, we had a consultation where I explained what I wanted. I didn't want to chop off a ton of length — I wanted to keep roughly the current length while making the thick hair fall a bit lighter and more natural. Oh, and I also have a bit of a double chin lol, so I wanted the cut to help hide that too...

Since my hair is curly and thick, I was worried that too much layering might make it puff up or be hard to style. So we talked it through while looking at my actual hair condition before starting the cut. I liked that she recommended a layering style that was just right for my hair :)

This photo was taken right before the cut. I'd had a cut at a different salon before this, and it only looked okay here because I'd used a flat iron on it — once I just washed it, it got really messy...

On top of that, both sides were slightly different lengths, which made it look even messier. I also mentioned that I usually tie my hair up — I'm not really the type to blow-dry and iron it carefully every day lol, when I'm just around the neighborhood I basically always have it tied back... so hair that's too high-maintenance to style stresses me out. As the cut began, she started clearing out the heavy, piled-up sections and adding layers, and I could feel my hair getting lighter with every snip. It really does seem like for curly, thick hair like mine, shaping the overall silhouette matters more than just cutting the length.

## What is the Shiseido full-care clinic treatment like?

What I got was the Shiseido full-care clinic! Since I'm naturally curly and get straight perms regularly, it's pretty hard to fully avoid hair damage ㅠㅠ Especially now, right when it's time for another perm, the roots start curling up while the previously treated hair looks dry and brittle, so overall it just looked messier.

The Shiseido full-care clinic I got is supposed to intensively care for damaged hair to help it become softer and shinier. For hair damaged from repeated treatments like straight perms or coloring, it's not just about smoothing things out on the surface — it matters to keep taking care of the hair's actual condition over time. At Aiva Hair, they explained it as a program with dramatic clinic results that intensively cares for damaged hair. If you're like me and get straight perms often, or your hair feels dry with lots of tangling when you comb it, this seems worth getting along with a cut.

## Layered cut and Shiseido clinic results

Here's the result of the layered cut plus clinic!! The moment the cut was finished, it was exactly the vibe I wanted.

Even though the overall length didn't shrink much, natural layers formed and my hair looked so much lighter. Before, the thickness was packed all the way to the ends so it hung down heavy and stuffy — but after the layered cut, the line flowed naturally from the sides and the whole silhouette felt different. I get it now, why people with thick hair go for layered cuts lol.

Here's a bit of a before-after: the photo on the left is the before, without a flat iron used. And this is after the cut with a light blow-dry. The hair framing my face also settled naturally, so even letting it down loose doesn't look as bushy as before — I really liked that.

Because I'm curly, my hair texture never looks that neat, and it gets even more frizzy as perm time approaches. This time, getting the clinic treatment along with the cut calmed down the dry, rough texture a lot too. Even a great cut doesn't look polished if the hair itself is frizzy, but with the clinic added, the cut line looked so much prettier :)

Here's the before-after — a bit of a shame the after photo isn't from the front, but anyway~ We didn't cut much off my daughter's hair either, just thinned it a little and trimmed the fringe to lighten it up. They blow-dried it beautifully too, and my little one loved it.
