This time the timing finally lined up, so my husband and I snuck out for a cozy night out together. Coco's Sungshin Women's University branch is on the 2nd floor, and right from the stairway up you notice the ID-check sign at the entrance. Even at the doorway, it gave off a hip yet warm and welcoming vibe.

The moment I opened the door and stepped inside, the first thing that caught my eye was a huge, dazzling chandelier. Paired with the dark-toned interior, that touch of luxe lighting made the atmosphere feel really special. The venue is split into a group hall and a smaller hall — the group hall has a livelier, more bustling energy, while the smaller hall is calmer and quieter, so you can pick your seat depending on your mood that day!

We visited on a Monday evening, and I was surprised at how many customers were already there. It seems the word is already out about this Sungshin Women's University bar, because the place felt full of energy even early in the week.

The group hall has long stretches of group seating, so there were plenty of university club groups and coworkers on dinner outings. The seats were also spaced out generously and comfortably, so it felt roomy rather than cramped.

And here's the heart-melting part! Two adorable corgis (named Deokhui and Namhui) strutted around the venue like they owned the place. Watching them wag their tails and weave between the tables — they were so gentle and pretty that just watching them made me smile.

Since it was after work and we were a bit hungry, and hadn't had soju in a while, we started with a warm soup dish, the chadol jjamppong tang (beef brisket spicy soup).

It arrived piled high with mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, and crown daisy greens, and once the broth started boiling, a spicy, savory aroma hit our noses.

When I scooped it up with the ladle, there was a huge amount of brisket hiding underneath. Usually bar-style jjamppong tang skimps on the meat with just a few pieces, but here the brisket just kept coming no matter how much we chewed through — they really didn't hold back. The broth was rich and spicy too, so with the very first spoonful I found myself saying, 'Wow, this is a real soju pairing.' The savory fattiness of the meat and the clean vegetable broth worked together perfectly, and it felt like it soothed my whole stomach.

## Cheese chicken galbi set: Toowoomba noodles and rice balls in one wok

For a dish to go alongside the soup, we picked the chicken galbi set. The composition of this set was impressively packed — one big wok arrives loaded with chicken galbi, tuumba noodles, and chicken galbi rice balls all together.

In the center, the sweet-and-spicy chicken galbi had cheese melted golden-brown on top, and off to the side sat noodles tossed in a rich, creamy tuumba sauce, plus rice balls drizzled with savory mayo, all arranged beautifully. Taking a bite of the spicy chicken galbi and then twirling up the savory, creamy tuumba noodles gave the perfect balance between spicy and rich. The rice balls were nicely salty too, ideal for refueling on carbs as both a side dish and a meal. The portion was much bigger than we expected, and my husband and I both said, 'Wow, the snacks here really come generously stocked,' completely satisfied.

## A rare, cozy date night out without the baby

With such tasty food laid out, drinks were a must. For once we set aside our worries about the kids and clinked glasses together. At home we're usually busy talking about everyday life or parenting, but going out to a gorgeous, atmospheric bar near Sungshin Women's University like this and chatting over good food brought back a fresh taste of how it felt when we were dating, and it made me really happy.

It had been a while since our last night out, and I felt like we really chose the right place. Every dish came in a generous portion and clearly made with care, making it an excellent spot to eat a proper meal alongside your drinks.
