## In short

Mansuheon Jeongja is an eel restaurant in Jeongja-dong, Seongnam, Gyeonggi, serving eel stone-pot rice at lunch and grilled eel at dinner. After more than five personal visits, I tried the lunch bowls, salt- and sauce-grilled eel, and scorched rice with dried-pollack broth. Verdict: a dependable pick for office lunches, group dinners, and treating guests.

## The eel place Jeongja-dong office workers are talking about

Okay, Jeongja-dong office workers probably already know about this one. It has not been open long, but Mansuheon Jeongja (만수헌 정자), this seriously good eel spot, has already become the talk of the town! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
After paying my own way and eating here more than five times, I am finally leaving a review. Let’s get ittt 🫢

![Mansuheon restaurant before the dinner rush](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon-02-1j088-900.webp)

I came just before the dinner rush, so thankfully it was fairly empty. At lunch, the office-worker queue is absolutely wild, but if you make a Naver reservation beforehand, they set you up at a table right away. ✔️
Lunch means the lunch-special eel rice bowls; dinner means grilled eel! 👍👍👍

![The open window-side space at Mansuheon](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon-03-uz3v2-900.webp)

The buildings around Jeongja-dong are especially old and complicated, so there are lots of cramped restaurants. It was such a welcome change to find a restaurant with an open, airy window-side area for once, haha. 🐣
I first came with a junior colleague on their recommendation, then with my team, then several more times for a wedding-invitation gathering. A great spot where you never regret bringing anyone...!! 🥹

![Upscale dining space at Mansuheon](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon-04-1w6hc-900.webp)

I have not tried the private rooms, but the space is so upscale that it would be perfect for treating someone to a nice meal. If the headcount works, it would be great for a lunch team dinner too! 😆😆

## Which lunch eel stone-pot rice bowl should you choose?

I mostly visited at lunch, so I have tried the Boheo, Boyun, and Yunjo eel stone-pot rice bowls 🍚🍚 Even though they are rice bowls, the eel quality is incredible; if you want your bowl absolutely packed with eel, I recommend the Yunjo.
I also tried the eel hamburger steak, and the Boyun might be just right for anyone who finds too much eel rich and cannot eat a lot of it. ‼️
(I have introduced this place to people so many times that I have basically memorized this speech.)

## My first dinner visit: salt-grilled and sauce-grilled eel

My first time here for dinnerrr~~ I kept it simple ✅ and ordered one salt-grilled eel and one sauce-grilled eel.
The shredded ginger, house sauce, salt, wasabi, and dongchimi (radish water kimchi) to eat with the eel all arrived so neatly arranged, and it is fun choosing your combinations. 😆

At lunch, chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) comes with the stone-pot rice bowl; at dinner, it is a limited first-come, first-served service item! Feeling accomplished 🤩
It is not just steamed egg—there are mushrooms and ginkgo nuts in it, so it feels like a hearty nourishing dish. 🥹 So much care went into it.

Lunch is so hectic that I had not noticed, but they par-grill the eel right here. Thanks to that, I could eat comfortably without my clothes picking up a smell. Restaurants that grill it for you are the besttt 👍

The salt- and sauce-grilled eel appeared right away 🧂 It looked glorious from the color alone, and the tableware was so elegant that it was a joy to photograph. Each piece was satisfyingly substantial and large enough for a proper mouthful. 🫶

If you are having it as a meal rather than drinking food, two regular eels for two servings felt plenty. If that seems a little short, there were extra-large sizes too. Even the little asparagus sides were wonderfully plump 🥬

Along with the individual side dishes, there were pickled perilla leaves, fresh geotjeori kimchi, and seasoned lettuce to accompany the eel. They all paired so well, and seemed house-made. 🫢🫢
From far away, I could hear people at different tables asking for more and more perilla leaves... The pickles are the secret weapon 👍

Oh, and this is the eel origin certificate my husband photographed while paying,,, 🤣 100% freshwater eel from Jeolla-do that you can eat with confidence ⭐️ It tastes even better when you know what you are eating.

## Eating par-grilled eel at my own pace

It comes out already about 90% par-grilled, so the rest is practically just reheating. We could put it on the grill and adjust it to our own pace, without getting smoky, which was lovely. Start with the salt-grilled eel! 😆

![Par-grilled eel placed on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon/jeongja-eel-rice-bowl-mansuheon-14-12o3v-900.webp)

Once it seems cooked enough, you can move it to the side and nibble away. Each piece is more substantial than it looks, so I cut mine in half with scissors. It feels like you are nourishing your body just by eating it 🥹

Oh, I also had it with Koshihikari rice, and it went unbelievably well with the tender, bouncy eel. The side dishes were excellent too!
They say it is low-temperature-aged eel, and perhaps that is why it breaks apart less and has an even chewier, bouncier bite. Yum 🐷🐷

## Eel stone-pot rice scorched rice with dried-pollack broth

Oh, I also brought out photos of an eel stone-pot rice bowl I had taken at lunch before, and the dried-pollack broth in that bottle on the right is the secret weapon..⭐️
After serving out the eel, pour the dried-pollack broth—not merely lukewarm water—over the remaining nurungji (scorched rice). It is nourishing food itself. I drink every last drop of the broth too. (Proudly) 🫢🫢
It is a combination that is hard to find at other eel restaurants, so I really recommend trying it!

A strong recommendation for an eel restaurant in Bundang. If you need a great Jeongja-dong office lunch spot, a place for a team dinner, or somewhere to take a guest you want to treat, pleaseee take them here! That is the end of my repeat-visit review 🐣
