## In short

Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch is a revolving (conveyor-belt) sushi restaurant at 22 Seolleung-ro 93-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where you can take plates off the rail or ask the chefs to make the sushi you want on the spot. Eating alone, the writer picked salmon sushi, eel sushi and Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef) sushi, and the rice portions and seasoning were modest enough to try several kinds comfortably. Plate colors set the price, so portions and budget are easy to control — a good solo lunch spot for office workers near Seolleung Station.

Today I'm sharing my review of Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch, a place I found while looking for somewhere good to eat alone near Seolleung Station! These days, even picking a menu when eating solo can be surprisingly stressful, right?

Especially on days when I'm craving sushi, I want to eat a little of many different kinds, but a regular sushi restaurant can feel a bit much to visit alone. That's where conveyor-belt sushi places are really convenient 💕 You just grab whatever plate of sushi you want, so choosing is simple, and the vibe isn't awkward at all even if you're on your own!

This time I visited Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch, located at 22 Seolleung-ro 93-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

## How made-to-order sushi works at Sushi Maiu

Maybe because Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch is a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant, it felt quite comfortable even eating alone. It had the kind of atmosphere where people dining solo, like me, could eat without any pressure, which I liked.

Above all, sushi plates circle along the conveyor rail, so if you spot something you want, you just grab it — that's the system! But what I liked especially was that they'd make whatever sushi I wanted fresh, right on the spot.

Conveyor-belt sushi usually gives the image of pre-made plates just circling the rail endlessly, but when I asked for a specific piece and they made it right away, it felt so much fresher. With sushi, the balance of rice and fish matters, but freshness really is everything. Eating sushi made right in front of me really boosted my satisfaction ✨

## Why Sushi Maiu suits eating alone in Seolleung

What I liked best about this visit was that I could eat comfortably alone. When you're dining solo, taste matters, but so does not feeling out of place in a chaotic setting or one meant for groups — and conveyor-belt sushi, where everyone just picks whatever they want, is really convenient for eating by yourself.

Especially since the area around Seolleung Station has a lot of office workers, I'd guess many people are looking for solo dining spots at lunch or after work. In that case, choosing a conveyor-belt sushi restaurant as your Seolleung Station go-to means less menu deliberation and more freedom to control how long your meal takes. I went alone that day and picked out sushi I wanted piece by piece, and it was more satisfying than I expected, haha.

## Rice portion at Sushi Maiu: just the right size

Personally, the rice amount is something I pay close attention to with sushi. If there's too much rice, the rice flavor overpowers the fish; if there's too little, you can feel a bit unsatisfied after one or two pieces.

The sushi I had at Sushi Maiu had a rice portion that wasn't overwhelming and felt just right. The seasoning wasn't too strong either, so it didn't overpower the flavor of the fish! That's why I could eat several kinds without feeling weighed down, and the more I ate, the more curious I got about other menu items. Part of the fun of conveyor-belt sushi is trying many different kinds, and with the rice portion being just right, it was great for enjoying a variety of sushi.

### Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef) sushi

I also tried the Korean beef yukhoe (raw beef) sushi, and it was quite fresh too. Since it's not just regular fish sushi but also unique options like yukhoe sushi, it added to the fun of being at a conveyor-belt sushi place. The savory flavor of the yukhoe paired well with the sushi. It was a great menu item to have in between when you're tired of only eating fish sushi.

### Salmon sushi

When it comes to sushi, you can't leave out salmon! I started with salmon sushi again this time, and personally, it was really delicious. You could really feel the soft texture unique to salmon, and it went well with the rice. Above all, since it was made fresh on the spot, it felt clean and fresh, which I liked. If you love salmon, definitely try the salmon sushi among all the options :)

### Eel sushi

And surprisingly, the dish that stuck with me the most was the eel sushi. Eel is really delicious as sushi thanks to its distinctively sweet sauce and soft texture, and the eel sushi I had that day had a great balance between rice and sauce. It wasn't overly salty or just sweet, so it was easy to enjoy. It had a different charm from the salmon sushi, so alternating between the two never got old, haha. Personally, I recommend the salmon + eel combo!

## Choosing by plate color at Sushi Maiu

Another advantage of conveyor-belt sushi is that prices vary by dish. Sushi Maiu also uses a system where the price changes depending on the plate color, so you can control your budget while picking whatever you want.

You can eat lightly with just a few plates and leave, or pick out a wide variety of dishes for a hearty meal! Especially when eating alone, being able to control the portion however you like was really convenient. It's much better than a fixed set menu — you can just choose exactly what you feel like eating today.

## Is Sushi Maiu worth it for office workers dining alone?

If you're looking for somewhere to eat alone near Seolleung Station, conveyor-belt sushi seems like a pretty good choice. Especially during office workers' lunch hour, another advantage is being able to eat quickly, as much as you want, without a long wait.

You can just walk in alone, pick the sushi you want, and finish your meal without worrying about anyone noticing. It seems like a great fit for people like me who want to eat a variety of delicious sushi on their own. So I'd like to recommend Sushi Maiu Seolleung Station Branch to anyone looking for a solo dining spot near Seolleung 🍣
