Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch (소담촌 수원정자점) is an all-you-can-eat Vietnamese spring roll and shabu shabu restaurant on the 4th floor of Gyeongseong Building in Jeongja-dong, Suwon. I went to Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch for shabu shabu the other day, my first time in a while! I found it while looking for restaurants near Starfield Suwon, and it turned out to have a spacious, clean dining room plus a generous spread of spring rolls, shabu shabu and dessert. It seemed especially great for a family meal out, so I wanted to share it with anyone looking for good restaurants in Jeongja-dong, Suwon :)

## Where to park at Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja

For parking, you can use Seonil Parking Building across from Lotteria and get 90 minutes free. Since it's a nearby lot rather than on-site, it takes about 4–5 minutes to walk to the restaurant. So if you're with others, I'd recommend dropping everyone off first before parking!

## A spacious, clean dining room

### Sodamchon on the 4th floor

Once you get to the building, take the elevator up to the 4th floor and the restaurant is right there.

Walking in, it was much bigger than I expected! Overall it felt clean and comfortable, with wide tables and plenty of seating — it really looked great for a family meal out.

### Great for visiting with kids, too

There are baby chairs available. And there's a space that seemed especially nice for parents visiting with kids: a kids' cinema! There's a camera set up in the kids' viewing area, so you can check on your child while you eat.

If you're looking for a Jeongja-dong, Suwon restaurant that's good to visit with kids, this felt like a solid plus :)

## The menu and the all-you-can-eat self bar

### Mushroom shabu spring roll set, ₩23,900 per person

Sodamchon, a restaurant near Starfield Suwon, has a spring roll & shabu shabu menu and a grill & shabu shabu menu. There's also a lunch special, so visiting during lunch hours gets you a slightly cheaper meal! I ordered the mushroom shabu spring roll set for ₩23,900 per person that day. Once you pick a menu, you also get to choose your beef and broth.

![Sodamchon spring roll and shabu shabu menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-04-uol09-966.webp)

I went with half brisket and half chuck roll for the beef, and half mild and half spicy for the broth!

Honestly I was really curious about the new milk mala and tomato shabu broths, but this time I decided to go with the most basic broth first. Next time I definitely have to try the milk mala or tomato shabu, haha.

### A self bar loaded with vegetables

Another thing I loved about Sodamchon — the all-you-can-eat self bar. You just take the plate at your table and go grab whatever ingredients you want from the bar.

There was even a separate plate just for spring roll vegetables. At first I thought, 'wait, what am I supposed to put on this one?' haha — but it was labeled with what to pile on, so it wasn't hard to figure out.

The variety of vegetables was really impressive too. From spring roll veggies to shabu shabu veggies to salad greens, you can take as much as you want. Best of all, the vegetables were genuinely fresh, and every ingredient had a lid over it, which felt nice and hygienic.

### From sauces to shabu shabu ingredients

The self bar also has a wide range of sauces. Sauce really matters with shabu shabu, and I liked being able to mix different ingredients to make my own custom flavor.

The shabu shabu ingredients were varied too — mushrooms, dumplings, fried tofu, rice cakes, fish cakes, fish balls, even sweet pumpkin! There were also noodles set aside for making kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup).

There was also icy water kimchi, which was genuinely cool and delicious. There were thin noodles too, which I figured would taste even better dropped into it.

![Self bar corner with bread and soup](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-09-suhmd-966.webp)

![Self bar side dishes including tteokbokki](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-10-74hmr-966.webp)

On top of that, there was bread, soup, and even tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes), so there was plenty to snack on even before the shabu shabu arrived, haha.

## Digging into the generous mushroom shabu

### A whole mountain of mushrooms

![A generous full spread of mushroom shabu shabu](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-11-1loqh-966.webp)

Finally, the mushroom shabu I ordered arrived. The mushrooms came out in a really generous portion! Cordyceps militaris, lion's mane, king oyster, golden enoki, brown beech mushrooms — all kinds I don't get to eat often, so it was fun and I was curious how they'd all taste.

![A plate of assorted mushrooms including cordyceps militaris and lion's mane](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-12-13tao-966.webp)

![Shabu shabu beef served half brisket, half chuck roll](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-13-1gp9p-966.webp)

The beef came out alongside it, and rice and egg for making porridge at the end also arrived together.

Four basic sauces come standard, so I portioned a bit of each onto my small plate and tried them one by one.

### Mushrooms first, then vegetables

![Mushrooms simmering in the broth for mushroom shabu](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-14-1oxvm-1200.webp)

I put the mushrooms into the broth first. It's mushroom shabu after all, so mushrooms come first, haha.

![A plate of lion's mane mushroom cooked in broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-15-1vtmh-966.webp)

I tried the cordyceps militaris and lion's mane mushrooms first — they had a healthy feel to them and had soaked up the broth deliciously. The lion's mane mushroom in particular absorbed a lot of the broth, which made it taste even better.

I wrapped the other mushrooms up with various vegetables into spring rolls. Spring rolls are all about piling in lots of ingredients for one big bite, haha.

### Plenty of meat and vegetables too

The mushrooms alone were already pretty filling, but I had to add the meat and vegetables too!

![A pot of shabu shabu simmering with meat and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-16-1j5hf-966.webp)

After boiling the mushrooms for a while, the broth felt even more flavorful.

![Shabu shabu with fried tofu, fish cakes, and sweet pumpkin added](https://img.superchart.com/images/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu/sodamchon-suwon-jeongja-mushroom-shabu-17-5hkvn-966.webp)

I added in fried tofu, fish cakes, sweet pumpkin and more. The broth was so good that everything I added into it tasted great, haha.

I wrapped the brisket and chuck roll with vegetables into spring rolls too, and kept spooning up the shabu shabu broth, getting fuller and fuller.

### And of course, porridge to finish

I'd had plenty of shabu shabu, but you can't skip the porridge at the end! I added rice and egg into the leftover broth to make porridge.

I let it bubble away and scraped the pot clean to the last spoonful. Even though I was pretty full already, somehow there was still room for porridge, haha.

And after finishing my meal, I even got a meat coupon! I'll have to come back and use it next time, haha.

## A satisfying café stop after the meal

### The café corner right next door

At Sodamchon, a great restaurant in Jeongja-dong, Suwon, you can also use the café corner right next to the dining area after your meal. There's coffee, peach black tea, pomegranate juice, and ice cream all prepared.

It was nice not to have to rush out right after the meal — I got to sit and rest a while with dessert instead. The coffee even came as iced americano, which I loved, and the ice cream had plenty of flavors like strawberry, Oreo, and chocolate.

### Even Oreo ice cream!

I was especially surprised by the Oreo ice cream. I don't think I've ever seen Oreo ice cream at a restaurant before, and when I tried it, the quality was better than expected — it genuinely tasted like something you'd buy outside!

I finished off with dessert and wrapped up the meal feeling great :)
