Autumn is the season for appetite, right? Parenting has been exhausting lately, but autumn definitely brings food inspiration every weekend. 🥰 This week, I was craving nicely grilled fish. Not the fish I always make in the air fryer at home—I wanted properly cooked fish made by someone else, so I visited a great grilled-fish spot in Bisan-dong, Anyang.

## Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch inside Kids Mom Center

The restaurant I visited was Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch (화덕으로간고등어 비산점). A family of my oldest child's friends who live in Bisan-dong had recommended it, saying that the fish is deliciously crisp outside and moist inside after being cooked in a 500°C wood-fired oven. It is in Bisan-dong Kids Mom Center, a place Anyang parents with children may have heard of at least once. This is also the building with Lora Bounce Pyeongchon Branch, which my oldest loves.

We drove today. Since Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch is in the Blue Building, we parked in the blue zone and took the elevator to the first floor. Get off the elevator, follow the signs around the corner, and ta-da! There it is. It seems it was even featured as a great restaurant on a famous program.

## A dining space where it was easy to wait with a child

Inside, I was struck by the bright, clean dining room and the wood-fired oven in the kitchen, where delicious fish was being grilled. The restaurant also has high chairs.

There are lovely, cool decorations throughout the restaurant, including LEGO and Pokémon goods. We could chat with our child while waiting for our food and again while waiting to pay. And even though it is a grilled-fish restaurant, there was no fishy smell. No need to worry about the smell clinging to your clothes.

## From grilled fish to children's meals

Here are the menu and prices at Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch. Along with a variety of grilled fish, there are non-fish dishes such as spicy stir-fried pork and Gorgonzola pizza. There are also children's meals, including a children's mackerel set and a children's wood-fired handmade tteokgalbi (grilled minced beef patty), so it is great for family gatherings. I also noticed a Naver review event on the table. If you are interested, it may be worth joining.

Once you order, this is the basic table setting they bring out. Side dishes such as braised king oyster mushrooms, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and cabbage salad, along with doenjang soup, are arranged on a large wooden board. If you need more, you can take as much as you want from the salad bar—and it has an even wider selection of side dishes. When the fish arrives, it is beautifully placed in the center of the wooden board.

## Spanish mackerel, grilled mackerel, and Gorgonzola pizza

The Gorgonzola pizza came out first. It is served with honey, and freshly made Gorgonzola pizza always has that wonderfully stretchy cheese, right?

Then came our grilled Spanish mackerel and mackerel. They placed them side by side in the middle of the large wooden board. The larger fish was Spanish mackerel, and the smaller one was mackerel. They were the very definition of crisp outside, moist inside. The skin was crunchy while the flesh was tender and juicy—it was on a completely different level from the easy air-fryer grilled fish we eat at home. 🥰🥰 It was so good that I just kept reaching for more.

## A salad bar where you can even make bibimbap and sungnyung

And here is one of the strengths of Hwaddeugeuro Gan Godeungeo Bisan Branch: the salad bar I mentioned earlier.

The salad bar has more types of side dishes than the basic setting, and its biggest draw is that it has seasoned vegetables, kimchi varieties, sesame oil, and gochujang (Korean red chili paste), so you can make bibimbap (mixed rice). There is even sungnyung (scorched rice tea)! Like a sparrow that cannot pass a mill, well... yes, I had bibimbap and sungnyung too.

And the true finish to a meal is a cup of coffee, of course. We could have a warm milk coffee and keep chatting. From the meal to coffee, it is all possible here.

I think grilled fish tastes best at a specialist restaurant. At home, beyond the fish smell, it is hard to get that crisp-outside,-moist-inside finish. Even the grilled mackerel we often eat at home felt special, and the grilled Spanish mackerel was truly so delicious. My family's intention to return is 100% (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️). We occasionally go to a kids' café with our child's friends, and since children like grilled fish, this would be a great place to come for lunch or dinner with those families too.
