The weather has been absolutely amazing lately. I went looking for somewhere with an old-world atmosphere where we could enjoy a leisurely drive, too. Since it was a meal with my dad and younger sibling, I researched especially carefully ^^ Suksudaega, a traditional Korean restaurant in Anjung, Pyeongtaek, immediately caught my eye! Just as I had heard, its beautiful hanok (traditional Korean house) and garden came together so beautifully that I felt calm and relaxed from the moment I walked in. With its charming hanok exterior, it is already hugely popular with people looking for a great Korean restaurant in Pyeongtaek for bringing their parents, family introductions, first-birthday parties, and all kinds of gatherings! The outside was crisp, while the flesh inside was moist and mild, with seasoning that was just right. There was plenty of meat, so I was totally satisfied. The freshly cooked pot rice sent out a savory cloud of steam as soon as we lifted the lid. Topping it generously with croaker meat filled my mouth with nutty richness. I’m a japchae lover, you know ^^ ### Tteokgalbi and pan-fried dishes The juicy Korean beef tteokgalbi (grilled minced-beef patties), tender to bite into, and the neatly pan-fried dishes elevated the whole meal. ### Fried burdock, bean sprouts and brisket, and shrimp dishes I kept reaching for the dish flavored with bean sprouts and thin-sliced brisket, topped with finely shredded, fried burdock. The dish prettily dressed with shrimp and vegetables such as cucumber looked almost too lovely to eat. And the flavor goes without saying! ### Soybean paste stew and side dishes The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), served individually in earthenware pots, had a deep broth that gently soothed the stomach. Dad gave the soybean paste soup high praise. Every side dish, from kimchi and pickles to seasoned vegetables, was mild rather than salty. I’m so glad I made lots of scorched-rice tea because I love it! ## A carefully prepared Korean meal in a hanok True to its Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Safe Restaurant certification, every ingredient was fresh and seasoned in a wholesome, gentle way, so my stomach felt comfortable throughout the meal. Suksudaega let us enjoy the deep flavors of Korean cuisine prepared with seasonal ingredients in a relaxed setting where nature and a hanok come together!
