## In short

Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a gyukatsu (beef cutlet) and omurice restaurant on the basement level of Avenue France in Gwanggyo, Suwon, close to Ajou University and Gwanggyo Jungang Station. On a weekday late evening the writer and her husband walked in with no wait and ordered tenderloin gyukatsu at 24,000 won and brie cheese omurice at 23,000 won, and the gyukatsu tasted nuttier grilled in butter than topped with wasabi alone. With a tidy dining room and 4 hours of parking support, Gyuen-dang works well for a date or a small get-together.

Gyuen-dang is a great gyukatsu spot for a date or a group outing when you're looking for a good restaurant near Gwanggyo or Ajou University! My husband and I had a really delicious meal there, so here's the review.

## Where is Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch, and what are its hours?

- 4-hour building parking support
- 11:30 - 22:00
- Last order 21:00
- Weekday break time 15:00 - 17:00
- No break time on weekends

Gyuen-dang is on the first floor of Avenue France in Gwanggyo! It's also pretty close to Ajou University. If you've ever searched for gyukatsu near Ajou University, you've probably come across Gyuen-dang before.

Their signature dishes are gyukatsu (breaded fried beef cutlet) and omurice! They also serve rice bowls, curry, and udon.

## Weekday late-evening wait and the dining room at Gyuen-dang

Gyuen-dang lets you register for the wait through CatchTable. Since I visited on a weekday late evening, there was no wait at all!

The moment you walk in, you see the campfire LED 🔥 Personally I love this kind of interior touch, haha. Now that the weather's turned cooler, it fits even better! With logs stacked on top, it looked pretty realistic.

Most of the tables seat four. Over on this side, too, a campfire is glowing against the wall.

Next to it there's a table for six.

And behind that, window seats! The window seats are perfect for two people sitting side by side.

## Gyuen-dang's review event: a free okonomiyaki

Worth noting: for Gyuen-dang's review event! Usually places give you something that's already on the menu as a freebie, but interestingly, Gyuen-dang gives you okonomiyaki (savory pancake), which isn't even on the menu, haha! You can try this hidden dish by leaving a review, so don't miss the review event...!!

The menu is fairly large, but it's organized clearly by food type, which made it a lot easier to decide what to order.

There's also a guide on how to eat their signature gyukatsu and omurice, worth checking before you dig in.

## Tenderloin gyukatsu, 24,000 won: wasabi vs butter-grilled

*Tenderloin gyukatsu*

The gyukatsu comes with butter, sauce, wasabi, and salt to pair with it, along with the standard side dishes — spicy radish salad, cabbage salad, and clear broth.

![Standard side dishes of spicy radish salad and cabbage salad](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-11-jp3z6-966.webp)

The radish salad is spicier than I expected, but it was the perfect palate cleanser between bites of gyukatsu. The salad dressing was really tasty too, haha.

The gyukatsu meat...!

![Piece of tenderloin gyukatsu before going on the grill](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-14-2cdtd-966.webp)

![Close-up of gyukatsu's thin, crispy batter](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-15-1yrx1-966.webp)

At first I grilled it and just topped it with wasabi. The gyukatsu was so savory that it went really well with the wasabi. The batter is thin but forms a slightly crispy surface, so it definitely holds its own!

Next, I grilled it with the butter that came with it, to make it even more savory. The gyukatsu sizzling away...

![Gyukatsu sizzling on the grill with butter melting on top](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-17-kukd1-966.webp)

Trying to let the butter soak in, I may have grilled it a bit too long, haha, but the look of it got so much better!!

![Gyukatsu grilled golden with butter](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-18-bxj2w-966.webp)

It was definitely richer and more savory than when just grilled plain. Comparing plain-grilled vs. butter-grilled! For our taste, the butter-grilled one was tastier, so we grilled the rest of the pieces with butter too, haha. Topping it with wasabi and eating radish salad in between cut through the richness perfectly. 👍

## What does Gyuen-dang's 23,000-won brie cheese omurice taste like?

Next, the omurice I ordered out of curiosity!

![Plate of Gyuen-dang's brie cheese omurice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-19-if5p9-966.webp)
*Brie cheese omurice*

I'd actually never ordered omurice at a Japanese restaurant before, but hearing it came with brie cheese made me so curious, haha.

![Full view of the brie cheese omurice presentation](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-20-fkpfb-966.webp)

Unlike the gyukatsu, there's nothing to pair with the meat — instead, it comes with a sauce to pour over the omurice!

![Sauce served to pour over the omurice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-21-qawbs-966.webp)

That incredibly thick brie cheese under the egg...🤍 It really looks amazing!!

If you split it down the middle, you can spread the egg out wide.

![Omurice egg split down the center and spread wide](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-22-h61iu-966.webp)

Soft, fluffy cooked egg💛

![Softly cooked, fluffy omurice egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-23-1vaw4-966.webp)

Just pour plenty of sauce over it!

![A spoonful of brie cheese omurice topped with sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner/gyuendang-gwanggyo-brie-omurice-dinner-24-e22b2-966.webp)

The brie cheese inside is melted just chewy enough to eat perfectly. Following the instructions — a full spoonful of rice, brie cheese, egg, and sauce together — makes for a bite where the savory richness of the cheese really comes through. Chewing it well, you get both the cheese's savoriness and the rice's sweetness together, which made it even tastier, haha 😋 It was a clean and satisfying meal.

## Is Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch worth a visit?

Recommended as a good restaurant near Gwanggyo and Ajou University. The gyukatsu and omurice were both delicious. The restaurant is also clean, making it a great spot for a date or a group gathering 🤎💛
