## In short

Yangjaeok is a Korean restaurant a 4-minute walk from Exit 4 of Yangjae Station in Gangnam, Seoul. The 37,000-won juanjang platter brings dubu-kimchi, zucchini pancake, spicy stir-fried pork and bossam to the table at once, and the 12,000-won gogi-guksu (meat noodle soup) has a broth that is rich without feeling heavy. Yangjaeok works just as well for a weekday lunch as for an evening of drinks with food.

I found a Korean restaurant near Yangjae Station and had to check it out! There are days when only Korean food will do haha, and this place happened to have a wide range of Korean dishes, so I went for it!!

## Where is Yangjaeok and what are its hours?

Yangjaeok was easy to get to — just a short walk from Yangjae Station! 📍4-minute walk from Exit 4 of Yangjae Station

Turn left once you go into the alley and it's right there!

## Inside Yangjaeok: table spacing and atmosphere

Yangjaeok's dining room was bigger than I expected! The tables were spaced out generously too, so I could eat comfortably without bumping elbows with the next table or feeling cramped haha.

![Inside Yangjaeok with wide table spacing](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-05-1pu86-900.webp)

Because the tables were laid out with room to spare overall, it didn't feel crowded even with people around, which I liked!

Thanks to that, we could chat with our group and eat at a relaxed pace 👍🏻 I'd made a reservation, and they'd already put up a reserved table sign for us!

## Yangjaeok menu and prices

Dwaeji gomtang (pork bone soup) ₩11,000 / naeng-jeyuk (cold sliced pork) ₩12,000

Bossam set ₩15,000 / bossam for 4 ₩43,000 / bossam ₩27,000 / bibim-makguksu (spicy cold buckwheat noodles) ₩11,000 / mandu (3 pieces) ₩5,000

### Dwaeji-gomtang (pork soup), 11,000 won

Yangjaeok is known for its dwaeji gomtang! They say it's made carefully using only chilled Korean pork, giving you a clear, mild broth and tender, flavorful meat! Their signature anchovy-chili paste is best not stirred into the soup, but wrapped around the meat instead — apparently that's how they recommend eating it.

## What comes on the 37,000-won juanjang platter?

I ordered the juanjang (drinking table set), which lets you enjoy a generous spread of different Korean dishes at once!! From mild dubu-kimchi to crispy zucchini pancake, sweet-and-spicy stir-fried pork, to tender bossam — it's a lineup of nothing but the good stuff, and I was so excited...😍

![Yangjaeok's juanjang drinking table set laid out](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-09-1efl9-900.webp)

It came with a nice variety of side dishes too — kimchi, green onion kimchi, and pickled garlic!

![A dish of pickled garlic](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-11-13b6e-900.webp)

Of all of them, the kimchi was really delicious. Not too sour or sharp, just fermented enough for a crunchy texture and great umami.

![Close-up of Yangjaeok's well-fermented kimchi](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-12-1sjgz-900.webp)

### Sweet and spicy stir-fried pork (jeyuk-bokkeum)

Stir-fried pork can't really go wrong, and this one looked delicious just from the visual 😋 The sauce was just sweet and spicy enough and coated the meat well, clearly made to go with rice.

![Sweet-and-spicy stir-fried pork in sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-13-9bpxh-900.webp)

It wasn't just sharply spicy — there was umami layered in too, which made it addictive haha. The meat wasn't tough either, and it blended really well with the sauce.

I wrapped it in lettuce to eat! Adding an extra bowl of rice would have made it total rice-thief material haha.

### Crisp, nutty zucchini pancake (aehobak-jeon)

I'm not usually a big fan of jeon (savory pancakes), but honestly, the zucchini pancake was my favorite thing I ate that day…🥹

![Golden, pan-fried zucchini pancake](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-14-7jedl-900.webp)

The outside of Yangjaeok's jeon was golden and crispy, while the inside kept the zucchini's moist, soft texture fully intact 🫢

![Cross-section of the moist zucchini pancake](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-15-1yg6z-900.webp)

You could really taste zucchini's natural sweetness, which made it even better!! It wasn't just oily — it was light and nutty too, so it paired well with the other dishes haha.

![A plate of zucchini pancake](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-16-15jhe-900.webp)

![Picking up a piece of zucchini pancake with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-17-151ob-900.webp)

A bite of warm zucchini pancake with a cold drink on the side — I imagine that pairing would be perfect!!

### Moist, tender bossam (boiled pork)

The bossam looked tender just by appearance, and I had high hopes — but it turned out even softer than expected!!

The meat was seasoned just right for a mild, clean flavor, and the kimchi portion was generous, which I liked! Once I started putting kimchi on a piece of meat, I couldn't stop haha.

Bossam is always good, but tender meat paired with kimchi really is a combination that never fails 👍🏻

### Mild, nutty dubu-kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi)

It came with warm, soft tofu paired with well-stir-fried kimchi!

![Dubu-kimchi with stir-fried kimchi on the side](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-19-ppwoo-900.webp)

The tofu had a mild, crumbly texture that matched perfectly with the kimchi's seasoning! The kimchi was mildly spicy with strong umami, which suited the tofu's plainness really well~

In particular, the kimchi wasn't too sour or sharp — it was gently stir-fried, so I kept reaching for it. Putting kimchi on tofu gave a mix of mild and spicy flavors that would be perfect as a drinking snack or side dish!!

## Gogi-guksu, 12,000 won: how is the broth?

I wanted to try other menu items too, so I ordered the gogi-guksu (meat noodle soup)! Warm broth loaded with meat and steam rising off it — it looked so good...😙

![Yangjaeok's gogi-guksu loaded with meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-22-o0j2w-900.webp)

The broth had a rich, savory depth without feeling heavy or overwhelming!!

![Close-up of the gogi-guksu broth and noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu/yangjae-hansik-juansang-gogi-guksu-23-1gk8s-900.webp)

The meat was tender too, mild with no gamey smell, and it went really well with the noodles.

This is the kind of gogi-guksu I'd think of on a cold, chilly day. It's a menu that warms you up from the inside, so it's filling enough as a full meal, and also great as a way to finish off the juanjang set. The broth was clean yet deep — a really appealing gogi-guksu!

## Is Yangjaeok better for lunch or dinner?

Yangjaeok is great for a lunch visit, and just as good for drinks with tasty snacks in the evening! With everything from filling meal options to dishes that pair perfectly with drinks, it's easy to enjoy depending on the time of day, so give it a try!
