## In short

Jo Hui-tak Coffee is a dessert café near Ajou University in Suwon, Gyeonggi. I tried a 7,000-won Tak Latte, 6,500-won omija tea, and 8,500-won fig fresh cream cake. Verdict: come for the rich peanut latte and clean-tasting cake, then return for the sando.

## A hip handmade-dessert café one minute on foot from Ajou University

After our meal at the gyudon place by Ajou University last time, we headed to Jo Hui-tak Coffee, just a one-minute walk away, for dessert. It looked hip from the outside and totally gave off that Ajou University dessert-hotspot vibe. The shop was spacious and everything tasted great, so I think it would be especially popular with students.

Jo Hui-tak Coffee is on the first floor of a residential building! It’s known for its handmade cakes and sando (Japanese-style fruit sandwich). When I visited on a weekday, there were plenty of sandos and every kind of cake slice was available. Whole cakes need to be reserved in advance.

The place was seriously hip, haha. Even the menu was displayed on a Mac screen.

Since it’s a handmade-dessert shop, I decided I absolutely had to pick at least one dessert.

They even had their national technical certificates on display, haha. Now I was really looking forward to the coffee...

The interior was nice and big. It looked small from outside, but there were lots of tables and plenty of room, so lots of people came in. Since it’s a café near Ajou University, I saw many students studying on laptops.

## Ordering the Tak Latte and fig fresh cream cake

I ordered the signature Tak Latte for ₩7,000, omija tea for ₩6,500, and fig fresh cream cake for ₩8,500. Jo Hui-tak Coffee offers an Americano refill when each person orders one menu item. Isn’t that amazing? Hahaha.

It seriously took me ages to choose a cake. Every single one looked like something I wanted to eatㅠㅠㅠ After much deliberation, I picked the gorgeous-looking fig one! Haha.

### Refreshing omija tea and a generous fig cake

The ₩6,500 omija tea was brewed from a tea bag rather than a fruit syrup. I wondered if it might taste weak, but its omija (five-flavor berry) aroma was deep and it had the charm of refreshing and cleansing the palate.

The fig fresh cream cake was ₩8,500. Maybe because it is made with 100% dairy cream, the cream was not rich or cloying at all—it was truly clean-tasting. The texture of fresh figs and soft whipped cream was a fantastic combination. There were so, so many figs in it; no matter how much I ate, there were still more figs inside. They must be very generous with their ingredients, haha.

### The signature Tak Latte, starting with the peanut cream

You can’t visit Jo Hui-tak Coffee without trying its signature drink, right? The Tak Latte is ₩7,000. It’s a peanut coffee latte, and this signature coffee has such a deep, nutty peanut flavor. It was excellent, with every bit of the owner’s serious dedication to coffee coming through.

They say you should eat the peanut cream on top first, then mix it in later. The peanut flavor was intense and the cream was wonderfully chewy—so deliciousㅠㅠㅠ You absolutely have to try the Tak Latte. If you come here, definitely, definitely get the Tak Latte...

## Next time, I’m coming back for a sando

From the nutty Tak Latte to the clean dairy-cream cake, everything was excellent quality. Considering the handmade desserts and professional-level coffee, the prices felt satisfying too, and I loved the hip, stylish interior that showed real expertise.

The coffee tasted like it was made by a barista with pride. The display case was filled with handmade cakes that looked incredibly tempting even just from looking at them, making any dessert lover’s heart flutter. This place is especially known for its sandos too, so next time I’m definitely coming back to try one. I’ll make sure not to arrive too full, haha.
