# Blue Mallow tea at a Namyangju café: Waltz and Dr. Mahn

This time, I visited a café with a truly one-of-a-kind atmosphere. It would be such a wonderful place for an anniversary date or to bring your parents!!

Doesn't it feel like you have arrived in Switzerland in Europe?! I was amazed, thinking, “A place like this exists in Korea...?” I completely fell for it. A real, wholehearted recommendation!!!

A café with the Bukhangang River spread out before your eyes 💕

There is plenty of parking. There is also a coffee museum where you can try a drip-coffee experience. (Closed regularly on Mondays and Tuesdays.)

## Weekday afternoon waits and a Bukhangang River walk

We arrived at around 1:40 p.m. on a weekday and there was no wait. I hear there can be a wait on weekends. Many people seemed to be just about finished with lunch.

After leaving the café, it is also lovely to take a walk beside the Bukhangang River.

Waltz and Dr. Mahn, a beautiful coffee kingdom created by Dr. Park Jong-man, who has spent 40 years passionately devoted to coffee.

## An antique interior filled with classical music

It has an elegant ambience reminiscent of a Japanese kissaten, or traditional coffeehouse. Classical music played throughout our stay, making me feel calm and somehow refined. I came home completely immersed in the atmosphere.

### A café loved by literary figures

I heard that the poet Pi Cheon-deuk and novelist Park Wan-suh were regulars during their lifetimes. Looking out at the Bukhangang River from this café makes inspiration feel as though it could just bubble up, so I could understand why they visited so often.

Antique objects are displayed throughout, making it fun to look around.

This is a café with wonderfully atmospheric seats closest to the Bukhangang River. The outdoor terrace also looked lovely. It would be perfect in weather like this. There are comfortable sofa chairs, so it is a great place to rest. There is even a 200-year-old organ and a group table seating 10 people. At a glance, it almost feels like the inside of a cruise ship.

## A menu from set courses to hand-drip coffee

For set meals, there are Royal, Dinner, and Lunch courses, as well as à la carte items.

Their premium variation drinks include coffee selections, parfaits, yogurt ice cream, fresh fruit juice, and bottled beer.

There are teas too, and each person must order one drink. Desserts include cakes, waffles, and ice cream.

The three of us ordered decaf coffee for ₩16,000, Honor & Chevalier for ₩18,000, Blue Mallow for ₩15,000, and seasonal fruit cheesecake for ₩9,000.

They also offer membership benefits, and they hold a classical music concert once a month—this is a place that is seriously devoted to classical music.

## Blue Mallow tea and a generous parfait

Seasonal fruit cheesecake. I heard that every cake and bread at the café is baked in-house by baker Jo Jun-hyeong, an early graduate of Tokyo College of Confectionery.

“Blue Mallow” is a herbal tea that changes color when you squeeze lemon juice into it. It is caffeine-free, so it is also nice for pregnant people to drink.

Once I added the lemon juice, it tasted similar to hibiscus tea.

The “Honor & Chevalier” parfait brings together ice cream, French macarons, and seasonal fruit. It is so generously filled that ordering this alone feels enough to satisfy a dessert craving. If you are close enough to share a parfait, you probably do not even need to add cake too...!!

The decaf coffee is made using the Swiss Water process, without chemicals. It had some acidity, but when we added a little of the syrup served alongside it, my mom exclaimed that it was so delicious.

The manager who served us was also incredibly kind. Such a lovely café.

We even made sure to get the premium drip coffee through a receipt event~~ After leaving the café, we stayed around for quite a while, taking photos of one another and walking along the river right in front of it.

I got my fill of prenatal bonding time at this café with classical music playing ❣ I was sad to leave, and it is a café I would like to revisit next time with my precious people. (❁´◡`❁)
