## In short

Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Wondang Station Branch is a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal) restaurant serving stone-pot rice on Goyang-daero in Deogyang-gu, Goyang. The writer ordered the Tteuranchae set and a la carte bori gulbi (dried yellow corvina), working through banchan (side dishes) laid out like a 12-dish spread, 10 more sides from the self-bar, and stone-pot rice that took 15 minutes to arrive, then eaten in green tea with the gulbi. With a wide parking lot and a tidy dining room, Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang is an easy choice for a meal with parents or older relatives.

## What I look for in a hanjeongsik restaurant

What do you pay the most attention to when choosing a hanjeongsik (Korean set-meal course) restaurant?

Taste matters to me, but so does a clean interior, neatly arranged food, plenty of parking, and friendly service. Especially when dining with family or elders, even the tastiest food feels a little disappointing if parking is a hassle or the restaurant is too chaotic.

So this time I visited a hanjeongsik spot in Wondang, Goyang — Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang — and I liked it from the first impression.

On this visit I ordered the Tteuranchae set and a la carte gulbi (dried yellow corvina), and with every bite I couldn't help letting out

> "Mmm~~"
> "Wow~~"

exclamations. It wasn't just one standout dish — the whole spread, from the various side dishes to the stone-pot rice to the gulbi, was satisfying overall.

Today I'm sharing my honest review of Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Wondang Station Branch based on my own visit.

## A Korean restaurant with a big parking lot near Wondang Station Exit 1

I photographed the exterior first thing when I arrived. Kim Myeongju Tteuranchae Bapsang Wondang Station Branch is a Korean restaurant located on Goyang-daero in Deogyang-gu, Goyang. There are so many good restaurants these days that it's hard to decide where to go, but that day I wanted a clean, proper hanjeongsik spread, so I came here.

When choosing a Korean restaurant, I especially care about whether the side dishes are varied, whether the rice comes out warm, and whether the food overall feels neat and tidy. On that front, I had high hopes for this meal.

One thing I really liked was the parking space. When you drive to a restaurant, a lack of parking can drain your energy before you even eat. Here, the lot was spacious, so parking was relatively easy. That kind of thing quietly matters a lot for family outings, meals with parents, or gatherings with elders.

### What is the dining room like?

Inside, the atmosphere was clean and well put together overall. It wasn't overly formal or intimidating like some hanjeongsik places, but it wasn't too casual either. It felt comfortable for a family meal, and also fine for a gathering with friends or a date with a partner.

## Side dishes as generous as a 12-dish spread

Finally the food started arriving, one dish at a time. Wow~~ seeing the table fully set made me feel full just looking at it.

Another thing I personally liked was the bowls and tableware. Since hanjeongsik brings out many dishes at once, what they're served in matters just as much as the food itself for the overall mood. Here, each side dish was neatly plated, making the whole spread look tidy. There's a reason people say you eat with your eyes first.

I had the Tteuranchae set together with a la carte gulbi.

![Table set with an array of side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik-08-e4lxu-899.webp)

The many side dishes were lined up neatly like a 12-dish spread. That's the charm of hanjeongsik — you're not eating a lot of just one thing, but tasting a little of many things.

A spoonful of rice, then one side dish, then another different one. Picking my way through like that, the meal naturally stretched on.

Up close, the side dishes looked even more appetizing. This is exactly the kind of neatness I love. No matter how much food there is, it's disappointing if it's plated messily, but each dish here was arranged so nicely that I felt good before even taking a bite.

![Self-bar stocked with 10 side dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik-17-1q9p6-899.webp)

### What is on the self-bar?

If any side dish ran low, I could easily grab more from the self-bar. It had 10 side dishes and rice ready to go, so I could take as much as I needed. It was neatly organized and easy to use — for anyone who wants extra sides, this kind of self-bar is a welcome touch. Little details like this build up a restaurant's overall impression.

## A la carte bori gulbi and freshly cooked stone-pot rice

Now for the dish I was most looking forward to: gulbi (dried yellow corvina). If you like gulbi, you know it really comes alive when eaten with rice. Especially in a hanjeongsik spread full of side dishes, adding gulbi makes the whole meal so much richer. I tried it with rice — mmm~~ it was genuinely delicious.

Rice is essential in hanjeongsik too. Here the stone-pot rice is cooked fresh, so it took about 15 minutes to arrive. At first I thought the wait might be a bit much, but once the warm stone-pot rice showed up, the wait felt worth it. Rice really is better warm. It was great topped with a side dish or eaten alongside the gulbi — the piping-hot stone-pot rice raised the satisfaction of the whole hanjeongsik spread.

![A spoonful of stone-pot rice topped with gulbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik-22-10w26-900.webp)

![Green tea stone-pot rice paired with gulbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik-23-1v30t-900.webp)

### The best combination of the meal: rice in green tea with gulbi

One of the tastiest combinations I had that day: warm stone-pot rice + gulbi. Green tea stone-pot rice + gulbi.

A spoonful of rice with a piece of gulbi on top, then a different side dish, then more rice. Before I knew it, I'd properly enjoyed a whole bowl of rice.

Isn't this the real charm of hanjeongsik? Not just eating one main dish, but the pleasure of combining several dishes to your own taste. I slowly enjoyed the meal, pairing warm stone-pot rice and gulbi with green tea.

![View of the surroundings from the second-floor outdoor space](https://img.superchart.com/images/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik/wondang-hanjeongsik-tteulanchae-jeongsik-24-r4fia-900.webp)

## The second-floor outdoor space and overall atmosphere

After finishing my meal, I checked out the second floor too. There was a space that opened outside, and looking around from there, the view was better than I expected.

### Who is this restaurant best for?

What struck me most from this visit was that this is a hanjeongsik restaurant that suits pretty much any company. It's a good choice if you're looking for somewhere to eat with parents, fine for taking elders, good for meeting friends over Korean food, and a nice fit for a slightly special date with a partner.

Especially for family outings, parking and the interior atmosphere matter as much as taste. I liked three things here: the spacious parking lot, the clean interior, and the tidy table setting. The staff were also friendly, so I felt comfortable throughout the meal. Even the restroom was kept clean, which left a good impression.

## Looking for a hanjeongsik spot in Wondang, Goyang?

- "I want it to be a place I can take my parents or elders."

Those are the standards I use to pick restaurants too, and this visit was satisfying overall.

### My honest verdict

When writing a restaurant review, I think what matters most is how it actually felt to eat there. What I said most during this visit wasn't anything fancy. It was just "Mmm~~" "Wow~~ this is good." over and over, "Mmm~~" "Mmm~~". That's how much I enjoyed every single dish.

The interior was clean and the staff were kind. Even the restroom was well maintained, which I appreciated. The parking lot was spacious, making it easy to visit by car, and after the meal I could take a moment to relax and take in the view from the second-floor outdoor space. Above all, it fully met my expectations for a day when I wanted a clean, tidy Korean meal.

A family outing, a meal for parents and elders, a gathering with friends, a Korean-food date with a partner — the mood of the meal will change depending on who you're with.

Good food doesn't just fill your stomach — it seems to make the time spent with the people you're with a little warmer. If you find yourself craving a tidy Korean meal in Wondang, Goyang, it might be worth stopping by.
