I went to Sarugak20 when I was craving rich Japanese curry in Jeonpo. We ordered one half-and-half curry and two bowls of Sospecial Curry that day. Comparing the cream curry and beef curry on one plate, then adding sausage and a poached egg, made even the same curry feel quite different to eat. Most of all, this was a great Jeonpo curry spot whose deep curry flavor stayed with me even after I had finished.

The exterior is compact, but inside, wood-toned tables and warm lighting create a calm atmosphere.

From the window seats to the tables farther inside, the whole place felt comfortable, making it nice for a slow meal over a bowl of curry.

The menu centers on deeply flavored Japanese curry, with sides such as tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) and fried items as well. The notice said the menu can be packed as lunchboxes, and frozen curry sold on SmartStore can also be picked up at the restaurant. I ate in that day.

## Half-and-half curry: comparing cream and beef

The half-and-half curry was the first thing that caught my eye. Rice sits in the middle of a large plate, with cream curry on one side and beef curry on the other.

Even in the photo, the two sides are clearly different colors, so I was curious about the difference as soon as it arrived. I first tasted each curry on its own, then alternated between them with the rice.

Being able to compare two kinds of curry in one bowl was fun in itself, and it definitely felt different from eating only one flavor all the way through.

## Sospecial Curry loaded with toppings

We also ordered the Sospecial Curry. Beef curry comes with sausage, mushrooms, and a poached egg, then garlic flakes and cheese on top, so it looked far more substantial than the half-and-half curry.

In particular, the sight of all those toppings piled over the rice and curry looked delicious from the start.

After eating just curry and rice for a while, I would add a bite of sausage; with mushrooms or garlic flakes, I could change up the combinations little by little on the same plate. The cheese added even more, so the overall flavor felt quite rich.

## Trying sausage and poached egg on the side

We ordered two bowls of Sospecial Curry that day, but tried them a little differently. One came in its standard form with the sausage and poached egg on top, while for the other, we asked to have the sausage and poached egg served separately.

Looking at the photos, the same menu item looks quite different, right? With the separately served version, I ate the curry and rice first, then added the sausage when I wanted and placed the poached egg on top myself.

Breaking the yolk and mixing it into the curry and rice, especially, created yet another combination. Being able to control the order of eating it myself was personally a fun part.

## The rich curry flavor that lasted to the end

Switching back and forth between the half-and-half curry and Sospecial Curry, the plates were nearly empty before I knew it. The half-and-half curry was fun for comparing cream and beef curry at once, while Sospecial Curry was fun for adding the different toppings one by one.

But after eating both dishes, what I remembered most was the curry itself and its deeply rich flavor. It stayed with me more because I did not just look at the menu—I ordered both kinds and enjoyed them right to the end. If you are looking for a Jeonpo curry spot, or want to enjoy Japanese curry in several combinations rather than just one, Sarugak20 could be worth adding to your list. I had a really delicious meal that day.
