## In short

Sanbang Sochan in Jangsu Sanghoe is a Korean restaurant serving Jeju specialties at the foot of Sanbang-san in Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo, Jeju. For the first meal of a month-long stay in Jeju, a couple ordered the matcha warm noodle soup (malcha onmyeon) with pork broth and the beef and tangerine Pyeongyang naengmyeon (buckwheat cold noodles), tasting a meat broth with a faint note of matcha and a cold broth seasoned with tangerine vinegar. For a clean, light meal along the Sanbang-san, Yongmeori Coast and Sagye Beach sightseeing route, Sanbang Sochan is worth a stop.

Our month-long stay in Jeju has finally begun~ We picked Sagye Beach for our first accommodation, and the moment we arrived, my husband and I did the one thing we always do first: hunt for a good restaurant! We stumbled on a place we absolutely loved, so we went there for our very first meal in Jeju!

## Where is Sanbang Sochan in Jangsu Sanghoe, and where do you park?

Sanbang Sochan in Jangsu Sanghoe sits on the west side of Jeju, at the foot of Sanbang-san. The address is 232 Sanbang-ro, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do, South Korea!

Just search for Sanbang Sochan in your navigation and you'll find it easily — it's in the basement of a standalone 3-story building on Sanbang-ro, right where you can see the Sanbang-san parking lot. About 3 cars can park in front of the building, and if that's full, you'll need to use the paid public parking lot at the nearby Sanbang-san tourist site.

The mother-of-pearl cabinets and other decor made me feel like I'd stepped into my grandmother's house~ But instead of feeling old-fashioned at all, it felt sentimental and warm, and I loved it!

Everything looked delicious, but we ordered the matcha oncheonmyeon meat noodle soup and the beef tangerine naengmyeon~

![Table set after ordering](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbangsochan-jangsusanghoe-sagye-noodles/sanbangsochan-jangsusanghoe-sagye-noodles-09-uvzoy-900.webp)

Once you order, they bring out these side dishes!

This pickled onion mix was really delicious! The texture was so crunchy, and the sweet-and-sour flavor made it perfect to keep picking at between bites~

The food came out quickly, and it looked so neat and appetizing~

## What does the matcha warm noodle soup with pork broth taste like?

The matcha oncheonmyeon meat noodle soup came with the matcha noodles and dombegogi (sliced boiled pork) served separately~

![Matcha noodles topped with scallion pesto and matcha powder](https://img.superchart.com/images/sanbangsochan-jangsusanghoe-sagye-noodles/sanbangsochan-jangsusanghoe-sagye-noodles-14-5cvov-900.webp)

The matcha noodles come submerged in meat broth, topped with scallion oil, scallion pesto, and matcha powder!

The meat broth itself was incredibly delicious — rich, savory meat broth with just a hint of matcha's slight bitterness, so, so good! It was light yet savory, the kind of broth you want to keep sipping forever~

I'm usually not a huge fan of meat noodle soup because it gets greasy after a while, but Sanbang Sochan's matcha oncheonmyeon wasn't greasy at all — it was such a clean broth that I never got tired of it~ In fact, each sip left my mouth feeling refreshed, so I kept wanting more~

The noodles were also really chewy and delicious, pairing so well with the meat broth! Great texture, very tasty!

The dombegogi was thinly sliced, with absolutely no gamy smell — just clean, good flavor~

You can wrap this dombegogi with the matcha noodles for an even better bite — the chewy noodles, tender meat, and light yet deep meat broth all came together beautifully~

## Beef and tangerine Pyeongyang naengmyeon with tangerine vinegar

For the beef tangerine pyeongyang naengmyeon, they said the broth is made by blending beef stock with a tangerine peel tea that carries a subtle citrus tang!

On top of the chewy buckwheat noodles were slices of boiled aronsatae (beef shank) and shiitake mushroom slices made from Hallasan shiitake — the shiitake slices had a subtle mushroom aroma and a soft texture that made them a real delicacy!

The tangerine pyeongyang naengmyeon comes with tangerine vinegar and mustard on the side — this tangerine vinegar had such a wonderful aroma and flavor~

Adding plenty of the tangerine vinegar made the broth tangy and refreshing, even more delicious~ The pyeongyang naengmyeon, too, was so clean, refreshing, and light that I never got sick of it no matter how much I ate! The subtle tangerine fragrance that spread through my mouth was so appealing, and I really enjoyed every bite.
