Donnamu Jip is a Jiri Mountain pork belly restaurant on Yongso-ro 7beon-gil in Daeyeon-dong, Nam-gu, Busan. I was craving pork belly so badly today that I dragged a friend out for it in the evening haha 😋 We'd been hanging around Kyungsung University and Pukyong National University, and I'd heard there was a famous pork belly place nearby — turned out it was right around the corner. Since school just started, the streets near Kyungsung University were packed with people 😮😮 Looked like some kind of welcome party going on, the bars were swarming with people 👥 There are so many good restaurants around Kyungsung University that I feel like I discover a new one every time I go. Not huge, but it looked fine for groups too. We showed up around 7pm, and since everyone seemed to be gathered on the street next door, the inside was quieter than I expected. One table was already eating, and while we were eating more people started trickling in. I like a place where you can sit and eat comfortably, and this had exactly that feel. So many side dishes, which is great for variety. The ssamjang (dipping sauce) looked homemade, super rich. They said they even grind the salt themselves. If both people write one, you get a free bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) 🤩 ## Special rice with gondre and shiitake, plus country doenjang stew Partway through the meat we also ordered Donnamu Jip's country-style doenjang stew and special rice (gondre + shiitake). The special rice takes about 15–20 minutes, so I'd recommend ordering it early. They add perilla oil too, and the nutty smell is insane ㅠㅠ Wrap the rice with seaweed and soy sauce, seriously try it... The stew was also spicy with that perilla aroma and so delicious. We were genuinely starving that day, and eating the meat together with the rice meant a huge portion — by the time we finished we were completely full.
