On days when it's oddly chilly or I just crave a hearty bowl of soup, nothing really beats galbitang (beef short rib soup)...

This time I visited Gang Galbitang Seomyeon near Bujeon Market. With everything from galbitang to galbi gukbap, galbi noodles, and braised shank suyuk on the menu, plus single seats for solo diners, I'll introduce it for anyone looking for a solo-dining spot or lunch place in Seomyeon, Busan 🙂

## Location and parking at Gang Galbitang Seomyeon

🚗 Parking available

Gang Galbitang Seomyeon sits near Bujeon Market on the main road toward Yeongkwang Bookstore, so it wasn't hard to find.

If you're driving, you can use Blue Parking Lot (399-8 Bujeon-dong, Busanjin-gu), which supports 30 minutes of free parking. Seomyeon can be a bit tricky for picking restaurants because of parking, so a spot that offers parking support gets a pass from me 💯

## An interior that was easy to eat alone in

Stepping inside, the vibe was cleaner and more casual than I expected from a typical galbitang restaurant.

![Clean, casual interior of Gang Galbitang Seomyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit-04-1s8c2-900.webp)

There were also separate bar-style single seats, so eating alone didn't feel awkward at all. With lots of menu items like galbitang or gukbap that are quick to eat solo, this place seemed well suited for anyone looking for a solo-dining spot in Seomyeon, Busan.

There are also tables for groups, so it's a good option for family meals or an office lunch, not just solo dining.

You order via kiosk, but if that's difficult or you'd rather pay in cash, you can order and pay directly at the counter. A nice touch of consideration for elderly guests or anyone who finds kiosks tricky ✩◦ﾟ

The signature dish is, of course, Gang Galbitang 🍖 They say it's a handmade galbitang restaurant where every step is done by hand — freshly boiled beef short ribs go into a broth simmered from Korean beef bones every morning.

- Gang Galbi Gukbap
- Spicy Gang Galbi Gukbap
- Gang Galbi Noodles
- Braised Shank Suyuk

The menu was more varied than I expected. There's a spicy soup option that would be great for hangover recovery, and even braised shank suyuk, so this is a good pick for anyone in Seomyeon looking for a daytime drink or a solo drinking spot too :)

### Self-serve sides and mealkit

The basic side dishes are set out once at the start, and you can freely help yourself to more from the self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant. It was neatly stocked with kkakdugi, chosuk-jam root, dried radish, mustard leaf pickle, plus doenjang, peppers, garlic, and soy sauce that pair well with the ribs.

They also sell Gang Galbitang mealkits for takeout. If you buy a mealkit after eating in, you get a ₩500 discount per unit — so if you like it, it's worth picking one up to take home!

![Table setup with tissues, paper cups, salt, and pepper](https://img.superchart.com/images/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit-18-1qg4m-900.webp)

The table already had tissues, paper cups, chili flakes, salt, and pepper set out, so I could use them right away without having to ask.

There's also free wifi, which was nice for watching videos or browsing while eating solo. You know how much that kind of thing matters when you're dining alone, right? They're also running a Naver photo review event — write a receipt review and you can get a hand cream. If you want to join, make sure to grab it after your meal 🙂

## A hot, hearty bowl of galbitang

![A bowl of rich, deep-broth Gang Galbitang](https://img.superchart.com/images/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit-21-16aey-900.webp)

Finally, the galbitang arrived •••🤍 At a glance, it wasn't a clear-broth style at all but looked rich and deep. Made from broth simmered from Korean beef bones, the first sip had a savory, deep flavor.

![Basic side dishes served with the galbitang](https://img.superchart.com/images/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit-22-16t5y-900.webp)

The side dishes served alongside the galbitang — kkakdugi, dried radish, and pickled vegetables — paired well with the hot soup, good for mixing in bite after bite.

And we added the jungmyeon noodle add-on too! These are noodles shipped directly from Jeju Island, usually used in gogi guksu (meat noodle soup), and they went surprisingly well with the galbitang broth. Rice and then noodles too ••• it turned out to be an even more filling meal than expected 🙂

![Rib meat falling softly off the bone in the galbitang](https://img.superchart.com/images/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit/seomyeon-galbitang-solo-bar-seat-mealkit-23-1clg7-900.webp)

The ribs were boiled thoroughly, so the meat wasn't tough — it was on the tender side.

Can you see it ••• ribs falling softly off the bone 🥹 No toughness or dryness, the meat pulled apart moist and easy to eat. Each bowl had about four big rib bones, so the amount of meat was more generous than expected. Not just a broth-heavy galbitang — you get filled up on meat too!

It's delicious on its own, but dipping it into the soy sauce that comes with it makes it even better. The salty soy sauce goes really well with the tender ribs — a bite of meat, a sip of broth ••• I just kept eating until I was completely full.

## A hearty meal near Bujeon Market

With a wide range of options beyond galbitang — gukbap, galbi noodles, braised shank suyuk — and single seats that make solo visits easy, this was a solid choice near Bujeon Market for anyone looking for a solo-dining spot in Seomyeon, Busan. It's especially good if you want a hearty soup from the morning or want a proper lunch in Seomyeon.
