On a Saturday at 2:30 p.m., three of us visited this longtime family favorite and ordered two extra-large bowls — mul-naengmyeon (Sunjo 1800) and bibim-naengmyeon (Nongae 1593) at 16,000 won each — plus ujeon, pan-fried beef in egg batter, for 25,000 won, and finished everything. There's also Donggwang Church's parking lot next door that's usable during meal hours haha. A huge banner!! It told the famous Song Giwon Naengmyeon story of the 'stolen broth incident.' Apparently in 1997 there really was a broth theft — the entire batch of naengmyeon broth they had prepared disappeared 😮 and this incident has become a legendary story that always comes up whenever people talk about Song Giwon Naengmyeon. Reading this banner made me think 'exactly how good must this broth be for someone to steal it,' and after tasting it myself, I kind of understood why the story is so famous 😌 ## How long is the wait at 2:30 p.m. on a weekend? We arrived around 2:30pm on a weekend and the place was already full 😱 It was well past lunchtime, but I was surprised by how many customers there still were!! That's how popular this Jinju restaurant is. They said galbitang is only served September through March haha. Quite a few people were eating galbitang! The pork pieces were thick and substantial too?! 😋😋 It had a different but equally delicious flavor from the beef yukjeon!! Go ahead and add plenty haha. The vinegar and mustard also felt a bit special somehow haha. The seasoning had great savory depth, so it was a bit more intense, but personally, even though I'm normally a mul-naengmyeon person, the bibim version was tastier this time haha. As a Jinju native who has eaten countless bowls of naengmyeon here, I'd say this ranks among the best I've had haha.
