## In short

Yubok Kalguksu Yongin Korean Folk Village Branch is a Korean restaurant in Bora-dong, Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi, serving pufferfish-and-seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) set menus. At lunch the writer ordered the kalguksu and jjukkumi (baby octopus) set for two at 15,000 won per person, added king meat mandu (dumplings), and worked through the seafood kalguksu, a tasting portion of flame-grilled jjukkumi and barley rice before picking up rice puffs and an iced americano on the way out. With a dedicated car park right in front and the Korean Folk Village close by, Yubok Kalguksu is an easy choice for a family meal.

After playing at the Folk Village, you start craving a hearty meal, so this time I ordered the seafood kalguksu set for two plus king meat mandu, and ate really well.

## Parking and location: how close is Yubok Kalguksu to the Korean Folk Village?

This Bora-dong kalguksu spot has its own dedicated parking right in front, so parking was easy. You can park and walk straight in, which is great for family visits, and it's also close to Korean Folk Village so getting around is convenient.

The first thing I noticed at the entrance was the dessert corner — three kinds of rice puffs and iced americano were set up, so you can cleanse your palate after the meal too. I liked that detail.

## Inside Yubok Kalguksu: seating and the self-serve side dish bar

![Interior of Yubok Kalguksu with generous table spacing](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-05-caqu6-900.webp)

The interior had generous spacing between tables and felt clean overall. I visited during lunch, and customers kept coming in, so it seems to be a popular spot in the neighborhood too.

The staff were friendly despite being busy, and there was a self-serve bar so I could easily refill dressed greens and radish salad.

## What comes in the kalguksu and jjukkumi set for two, and what it costs

![The kalguksu jjukkumi set for two, fully laid out](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-08-4stzu-900.webp)

We ordered the kalguksu jjukkumi set for two, at ₩15,000 per person. It comes with seafood kalguksu, a taste of grilled jjukkumi, and barley rice, and we added king meat mandu as a side.

![Instructions on the table for how to best enjoy the set](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-09-1lb2s-m-900.webp)

![Hourglass on the table for timing the cooking](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-10-km5m9-900.webp)

Each table had instructions on how to best enjoy the set, along with an hourglass to help time the cooking.

![The set served with kimchi and yuzu radish salad on the side](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-11-1xv2v-900.webp)

Once the whole spread was laid out, it looked much more substantial than just eating kalguksu alone, which was satisfying. The basic side dishes were kimchi and yuzu radish salad. The kimchi had a crisp texture with savory, slightly sweet seasoning that paired well with the seafood kalguksu, and worked nicely alongside the light broth.

The yuzu radish salad was refreshing on its own, but even better mixed into the barley rice, so I refilled it several times. Being able to take as much as needed from the self-serve bar was convenient too.

## Seafood kalguksu: clams and sea squirt added at the table

For the main dish, this Bora-dong kalguksu had the staff add clams, sea squirt, mushrooms and vegetables into the broth directly. That meant there was nothing left for us to do but boil it, so while it simmered we started on the barley rice first.

Once the broth started boiling, the seafood aroma rose up — the refreshing smell of the broth really got my appetite going. There was plenty of clams and sea squirt, and the sea squirt gave the broth even more depth.

![A bowl of light, clean-tasting seafood kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-16-1vs21-900.webp)

The broth itself was light yet clean-tasting, and delicious even just sipped on its own.

## Flame-grilled jjukkumi mixed into barley rice

![Tasting portion of grilled jjukkumi](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-17-18qj3-900.webp)

Another highlight of the set was the grilled jjukkumi (octopus). The portion was tasting-size, but it was enough alongside the kalguksu, and the smoky, spicy seasoning went well with the barley rice.

The barley rice had a subtle sesame oil aroma, and mixing in the grilled jjukkumi and yuzu radish salad added crisp texture and a tangy flavor — it was really delicious.

Alternating between a bite of kalguksu and a bite of barley rice let me enjoy a variety of flavors, and I felt glad I'd ordered the set. With a spread like this, it seems like a great option for family or friends visiting this Korean Folk Village restaurant.

## Is the king meat mandu worth adding to the set?

![King meat mandu ordered as a side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-21-1pl25-900.webp)

![Cross-section of a fully packed king meat mandu](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-22-y4rkr-900.webp)

It feels like a shame to skip mandu (dumplings) on a kalguksu day, right? The king meat mandu was packed full inside, and juicy too, going well with the seafood kalguksu broth.

If visiting with kids, ordering the mandu alongside sounds like a good idea. If you want a really filling meal, I'd recommend adding mandu to the Bora-dong kalguksu set.

## Dessert on the way out: rice puffs and iced americano

![Rice puffs and iced americano picked up after the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu/yongin-bora-dong-kalguksu-set-mandu-24-8e889-817.webp)

On the way out after finishing the meal, I picked up rice puffs and an iced americano too. Filling up on warm kalguksu and finishing with a cup of coffee meant I could handle both the meal and dessert in one place, which was nice.

This was a great spot to visit for a family meal or a date after the Folk Village. If you're in Yongin looking for a Korean Folk Village restaurant or a hearty meal, I'd recommend this Bora-dong kalguksu spot, Yubok Kalguksu, where you can enjoy seafood kalguksu, barley rice, and grilled jjukkumi together.
