This time we wanted Korean food, so we visited Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch 😊 With grilled mackerel, jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork), and various Korean side dishes all available together, it suited anyone looking for good restaurants in Suseong-gu or a family dining spot in Daegu. The first thing I noticed walking in was that the interior was more spacious and clean than I expected 🤗 High ceilings and big windows let in plenty of light, so it didn't feel cramped, and there was relatively generous space between tables. When you're visiting with a stroller like us, tight aisles can be stressful, but even with both kids asleep in their strollers that day, eating wasn't uncomfortable at all~! We could keep both strollers close to the table, and since the kids didn't wake up, my husband and I could eat comfortably :) There were also several high chairs set up, so it looked like it would work fine for kids sitting at the table if they'd been awake! Because of all this, I thought it would be a great choice as a family dining spot in Daegu 😊 Every table had a tablet for checking the menu and ordering, which was convenient, and there was a QR waitlist system near the entrance. The main dish we picked was the fire-grilled jeyuk bokkeum for two. It comes out generously piled on a big hot plate, and it looked delicious the moment it hit the table! The red sauce was evenly mixed through the meat and vegetables, topped with plenty of perilla leaf and sesame seeds :) Best of all, true to its name, it had that distinctive charred, fire-grilled aroma, giving it a different charm from an ordinary jeyuk bokkeum! The sweet-and-spicy sauce with that smoky flavor naturally made me crave rice ❤️ There were plenty of onions and vegetables too, good to eat alongside the meat, and piling a spoonful of jeyuk bokkeum onto warm rice was really filling 🤗 Both my husband and I, who love Korean food, enjoyed it a lot, so if you want to eat meat dishes as well as mackerel at Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch, the fire-grilled jeyuk bokkeum was a solid choice~! ### Adding grilled mackerel: how it pairs with the spicy pork Since the restaurant's name literally starts with 'Geum-deungeo' (mackerel), it felt wrong to leave without the grilled mackerel, so we added that too :) The mackerel was grilled to a nice golden brown, crisp on the outside and moist inside. The salty grilled fish paired well with plain white rice, and alternating between the spicy jeyuk bokkeum and the mackerel made for a great combination~! Especially if you're visiting as a family in Daegu, it seemed like a good setup — adults eating something seasoned like jeyuk bokkeum while kids eat mackerel flesh with rice! It was especially nice to pair the lighter side dishes with the richer flavor of the jeyuk bokkeum. There was an open kitchen visible on one side of the restaurant, and refills of extra side dishes were available at the self-serve bar.
