This time I visited a place bread lovers in Paju Unjeong have probably heard of — the famous Paju Unjeong bakery, Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch. 😊 I'd always been curious about it, but I'd heard that since delivery and reservation orders are so heavy here, even popular menu items can sell out fast even if you show up right at opening. So I made up my mind and went right when they opened, and sure enough, quite a few people were already choosing bread that morning.

Boulangerie Tan Unjeong Main Branch is on the 1st floor of Farm Tower, 109 Chorongkkot-ro, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, and is open Tue–Sun 10:00–18:00. On Sundays it's 10:00–15:00, and it's closed every Monday.

The exterior is done up in wood tones, so the interior gives off a feel like a small European bakery. 😊 Something about it just has that vibe. Haha. Looking at the sign outside Boulangerie Tan, they follow a bake-daily-sell-daily principle, and use natural levain (fermented starter), organic and French flour, and natural butter & dairy cream. Inside the store there was also a sign saying they use French Lescure AOP butter. As someone who loves bread, seeing this kind of detail just made me more excited, haha.

Once inside, there were way more kinds of bread than I expected. From sandwich loaves to croissants, salt bread, baguettes, sandwiches, cornet pies — so many kinds that I had trouble deciding what to pick. 🤤 But some of the popular items were already gone even at the time I visited, which confirmed this really is a well-loved Paju Unjeong bakery. I really wanted a baguette, so that was a bit disappointing… 😭

This is what I packed up. 😊 By the way, they also sell coffee, and it's made with Fritz beans, so coffee lovers might enjoy pairing it. I used to love Fritz coffee so much… (I've quit coffee though… 🥲)

It's mainly a takeout-focused shop, so it was easy to pack up the bread and go right away, and pre-ordering for pickup would also be convenient. 👍🏻 Naver reservations are available too — if there's a specific item you want, reserving ahead is one way to go!

## How the Boulangerie Tan bread tasted at home 🤎

### 🥪 Mortadella ricotta panuozzo, 10,900 won

A combo of soft ricotta and mortadella! It's light so my hand kept reaching for this panuozzo. The bread itself is plain, so the soft cheese flavor and arugula went perfectly together!!! I thought it'd make a nice light brunch dish for Dongpae-dong. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

### 🥖 Jambon fromage, 9,900 won

This was the tastiest of all — the jambon fromage. Between the baguette halves are jambon (ham), cheese, arugula and butter, and the filling was more generous than I expected. The baguette's nutty, plain flavor paired so well with the salty jambon and cheese, making it perfect for brunch. There was plenty of jambon ham packed in, and the butter was genuinely delicious. 🤤 Personally, this was my favorite item 🤎 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

### 🥐 Vanilla and pistachio cornet pies

And for dessert, I picked up a vanilla cornet pie and a pistachio cornet pie! The outside is crispy pastry, and inside is a soft filling. Both the pistachio cream and vanilla cream were delicious, but honestly the crunchy pastry was the real kicker!! 👍🏻 I think these would go really well with coffee.

Can't leave out the salt bread. Haha. Splitting it in half, the inside was moist and the butter aroma was so nice. Being the basic item made it even better somehow. 😊 My little one loved it the most, haha.

## What to know before you grab brunch in Dongpae-dong

Boulangerie Tan, the well-loved Paju Unjeong bakery, has such a wide variety of bread and even sandwiches that it seems like a great spot to pack up for breakfast or brunch. In particular, since delivery and reservation orders are so heavy, even an opening run can end in a sellout of popular items — so if there's something you definitely want to try, it's a good idea to reserve ahead via Naver and pick it up.

Packing up bread and enjoying it with a cup of coffee could also make for a nice Paju Unjeong café date course! If you're looking for a good bakery in Paju Unjeong or a Dongpae-dong brunch spot, it might be worth a visit :) Next time, I'll definitely make sure to grab the baguette I missed out on today. 😆
