## In short

Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu is a Pyeongyang-style dumpling restaurant in Paju Book City, Gyeonggi. Having first eaten here while pregnant, the writer came back with her husband and their 100-day-old baby for bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles), nokdu bindaetteok (mung bean pancake) and 1++ hanwoo jjabagi (Korean beef stew) at 14,000 won, and the baby chairs and free misutgaru (roasted grain drink) made eating with an infant easy. Bubyeokjeong suits families who want a light, clean Korean meal after shopping at Paju Lotte Outlet.

Why you have to order the mung bean pancake and hanwoo jjabagi at Bubyeokjeong, a makguksu spot in Paju

## Why we came back to Bubyeokjeong with a 100-day-old baby

Today I'm writing my second review of Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu in Paju Book City. My husband and I live in Paju's Unjeong new town, and we first came here with my wife pregnant, right around when Bubyeokjeong had just opened.

![Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu's clean interior atmosphere](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok-03-1lhgq-966.webp)

I remember we both said something similar while eating that day.

> This place is going to get famous fast.

The restaurant was clean and the food wasn't overpowering — clean, light, and well put together. As a place that hand-makes its Pyeongyang-style mandu (dumplings), not just the mandu but every side dish had real polish.

Time passed, and now we've come back as three — my wife, our 100-day-old baby, and me. It turns out our first impression wasn't wrong: the place now gets waits even on weekdays. It seems well known among people looking for restaurants near Paju Lotte Outlet or in Paju Book City.

## How long is the wait at Bubyeokjeong? About 10 minutes via the kiosk

Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu uses a Catch Table kiosk inside the restaurant for waitlist registration. We registered on arrival, and while waiting shared a cup of misutgaru (roasted grain drink) that's set out for guests. We got seated after about 10 minutes.

## What we ordered: bibim makguksu, mung bean pancake and hanwoo jjabagi

This time we ordered bibim makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles), mung bean pancake (nokdu bindaetteok), and the 1++ hanwoo-loaded hanwoo jjabagi (Korean beef stew). Bubyeokjeong specializes in Pyeongyang mandu, but honestly I really love their makguksu. I've tried several famous makguksu specialty shops in Gimpo, and I think Bubyeokjeong's holds its own against them.

![A bowl of bibim makguksu at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok-07-6q7yp-966.webp)

![Bibim makguksu mixed with seasoning at Bubyeokjeong](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok-08-1y5gq-966.webp)

The bibim makguksu isn't harshly spicy or sweet — the seasoning is well balanced. Paired with lighter dishes, it really wakes up your appetite, so it goes great alongside mandu or hot pot too.

### Why the mung bean pancake is a must-order at Bubyeokjeong

And the mung bean pancake — I'd personally recommend always ordering it alongside. Crisp outside, light inside, with almost no greasy feeling. It's great to pick at between bites of makguksu or soup, and it really balances out the whole meal.

## 1++ hanwoo jjabagi at 14,000 won: how much beef do you get?

The most impressive part of this visit was the 1++ hanwoo-loaded hanwoo jjabagi. From the moment it arrived I was thinking, "Is it okay to put this much hanwoo in one dish?" — it was loaded with beef. Considering it's ₩14,000, the amount of hanwoo was pretty satisfying.

![A bowl of 1++ hanwoo-loaded hanwoo jjabagi](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok-11-kc8et-966.webp)

![Hanwoo jjabagi generously loaded with beef](https://img.superchart.com/images/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok/paju-bubyeokjeong-baby-visit-bindaetteok-12-76mu2-966.webp)

The flavor is closer to a spicy beef-and-radish soup than typical yukgaejang. Maybe because of the quality ingredients, the broth was much cleaner and deeper. Spicy but not harsh, it's the kind of flavor that settles your stomach — great as a hangover cure or as a drinking-food side dish too.

Honestly, if a place like this were near my office, I'd come for lunch without fail. For anyone looking for a hearty lunch option among Paju Unjeong restaurants, I really recommend the hanwoo jjabagi.

## Is Bubyeokjeong baby-friendly? Baby chairs and dessert misutgaru

Even with our 100-day-old baby, we could eat without much trouble at Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu. Baby chairs are available, and there are plenty of family customers, so visiting with a baby felt low-pressure.

Every time I visit Bubyeokjeong, what strikes me isn't just the food but how comfortable the restaurant itself feels. The place is clean and the food is light and well put together overall, so it's also a good spot to bring your parents.

After the meal, there's a corner with tasty misutgaru and snacks. I thought that before too long, our baby will be able to eat the rice crackers over there too.

If you've just finished shopping at Paju Lotte Outlet and are looking for somewhere to eat, if you're after Paju Unjeong restaurants, or if you simply want a light, clean bowl of Paju mandu, I think Bubyeokjeong Pyeongyang Mandu will satisfy you.

My family's visiting Paju in November, and I'm already planning to have lunch at Bubyeokjeong. What started as a restaurant my wife and I visited alone while she was pregnant is now one we've returned to as three, and next time it'll be with the whole family. The food is great, but it's also a restaurant where our family's memories keep stacking up little by little, so I think we'll keep coming back even more often.
