## In short

Sushi Doku The Songdo is a Japanese sushi restaurant on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall on Songdo International City Blvd in Yeonsu, Incheon. A newlywed couple booked an 11am reservation and ordered the Premium Sushi Special Set for two, getting 10 pieces of sushi plus chawanmushi, karaage, fried shrimp, sweet fried tofu udon, and salad, then received a bonus otoro (tuna belly) sushi through a receipt review event. These days I'm enjoying newlywed life, and since we're also preparing to have a baby, I've been trying to eat all the foods I might have to avoid once I'm pregnant — raw food, sashimi, soy crab and things like that. So this time my husband and I wanted sushi, and we headed to Sushi Doku The Songdo, a well-known sushi spot in Yeonsu-gu.

## Location and reservation: 2nd floor of Onesta Mall near Technopark Station

Sushi Doku The Songdo has a great location if you're looking for a good restaurant near Technopark Station. It's on the 2nd floor of Onesta Mall, which used to house a Homeplus, and Triple Street and the Songdo Hyundai Outlet are right nearby, so it's perfect to pair with shopping or a movie.

Since I wanted a proper full sushi meal, I checked reviews beforehand and saw a lot of people saying seats fill up fast right after opening, so I booked an 11am reservation in advance. I really recommend reserving ahead — when we first walked in it was fairly relaxed, but by the time we finished eating, it was almost full.

There were chairs out front for waiting, along with a menu you could view with photos.

## A clean, well-designed space, plus a plum tea while we waited

When we opened the door and walked in, the interior was much cleaner and had a much better vibe than I'd expected.

We were shown to our reserved table and sat right down, and as soon as we sat we ordered two Premium Sushi Special Sets.

![A glass of plum tea from the self-service station](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-11-4xshz-900.webp)

While we waited, we had a glass of plum tea from the self-service station. Behind the curtain, the chefs were continuously making sushi, and it felt like each order was prepared and served right away as it came in. The staff were also friendly. Most of all, since the chefs kept the sushi coming nonstop, the food came out much faster than I expected.

## The Premium Sushi Special Set for two: a spread that looked hearty just to see

I'd already seen the visuals in reviews, so I had some idea of what to expect, but seeing the full spread in person, it really looked delicious.

![Full spread of the Premium Sushi Special Set for two](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-12-2i8hw-900.webp)

Our Premium Sushi Special Set came with 10 pieces of sushi along with chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), karaage (fried chicken), fried shrimp, fried tofu udon, and salad.

![Plate with 10 pieces of sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-13-rigbt-900.webp)

The sushi selection was varied too — 10 pieces of flounder, red seabream, salmon, squid, sweet shrimp, akami tuna, red shrimp, snow crab, eel, and ankimo (monkfish liver).

It wasn't just sushi — with all the side dishes included, it felt like a pretty substantial full meal. And apparently the udon and salad are refillable too. Considering the price includes sweet shrimp and ankimo plus a variety of side dishes, I personally felt it was really good value for money.

## Soy sauce with a brush, and start the sushi with white fish

Before we ate, the staff shared a tip for enjoying the sushi even more. Rather than dipping in soy sauce separately, they recommended using the brush provided to lightly coat the sushi with soy sauce — this way the rice doesn't get soggy, which was great.

They also told us it's best to start with white fish and move on to red fish. I'm usually the type to just grab whatever I want to eat first, but this time I tried following the order they explained, haha.

And personally, the best combo I discovered was: one piece of sushi → a sip of udon broth → a bite of udon noodles. Eating one piece of sushi and then sipping the warm udon broth cleanses your palate and makes you want the next piece of sushi. Honestly, there really wasn't a single dish that fell flat that day.

![A piece of salmon sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-16-10o7w-900.webp)

![Close-up of sweet shrimp sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-17-zqefm-900.webp)

![A piece of red shrimp sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-18-9xqod-900.webp)

![Close-up of snow crab sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-19-1165l-900.webp)

![Eel sushi and ankimo sushi](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-20-18n8b-900.webp)

The sushi was of course delicious, and if I had to pick just one, I'd probably go with the red shrimp. But actually, thinking back on it, it wasn't that one item was overwhelmingly better — all 10 pieces were delicious. So what actually stuck with me the most were the side dishes.

### Silky chawanmushi and sweet Japanese-style fried tofu udon

![Silky chawanmushi side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-21-1sik7-m-900.webp)

![Sweet fried tofu udon with broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-22-xz4aw-900.webp)

The chawanmushi in particular was really delicious. I often eat chawanmushi at other sushi places too, but this one was unusually smooth and tasty — my husband and I kept talking about it.

And the udon! This was really my thing. You know that sweet fried tofu udon you get in Japan? It had exactly that sweet broth, so the first sip immediately made me happy. Honestly, after that first sip I decided I had to get a refill — the problem was there was just too much food. At first we said we'd definitely have a udon refill, but after finishing the sushi and all the sides, we were way too full, so in the end we couldn't manage it, haha.

## A bonus otoro sushi from the receipt review event

We also took part in the receipt review event and got an otoro (tuna belly) sushi as a result.

![Otoro sushi received from the receipt review event](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-23-1joch-900.webp)

![Otoro sushi plated](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku/songdo-sushi-udon-tuna-belly-sushidoku-24-gye57-900.webp)

Honestly, since it was an event menu item, I wasn't expecting much. But when we got it, I was a little surprised — the presentation alone was solid, and the quality was great when we tasted it. All the sushi looked fresh overall, but adding the otoro on top let us end the meal on a really good note.

## If you want real sushi in Songdo, Incheon

I'd personally definitely go back to Sushi Doku The Songdo. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Songdo, Incheon and you like sushi, it's worth a visit at least once. As a newlywed trying to eat all the foods I might not be able to have soon, this was also a welcome menu, haha.

Above all, with Triple Street and the Songdo Hyundai Outlet nearby, it's easy to pair with shopping or a movie, and the space is clean enough that I'd feel comfortable bringing someone here to treat them to a meal. If a friend asked me where's good for sushi in Songdo, I'd genuinely recommend Sushi Doku The Songdo. I think anyone who loves sushi, and anyone who loves sweet Japanese-style fried tofu udon, would be satisfied.

That said, there can be a wait, so I'd recommend booking ahead and arriving right at opening like we did. We visited at 11am and it was nearly full by the time we left, so next time I'll definitely reserve ahead again.
