When you go to Gangwon-do you absolutely have to eat sashimi, right?! So I stopped by Jumunjin Fish Market! ## Walking through Jumunjin Fish Market, 80 years old Jumunjin Fish Market, where Minja Hoetjip is located, is apparently an 80-year-old traditional market! There were a lot of dried seafood shops too. They looked super fresh! Guess it's king crab season right now! ## Where Minja Hoetjip is, and why takeout costs less Minja Hoetjip is right there as soon as you walk a little into the interior of Jumunjin Fish Market! You can also pick your own fish for the sashimi! And with takeout, they throw in side dishes like abalone, sea squirt, whelk, abalone again, spicy fish stew, and vegetables. ## Inside Minja Hoetjip: ordering the small flounder and sea bream platter We were so hungry we decided to eat at the restaurant! The inside was bigger and cleaner than I expected. As someone who likes the side dishes more than the sashimi itself, I was so happy haha. The abalone sashimi was chewy and fresh, and the sea squirt was delicious too — hadn't had it in a while! ### How many people does the small sashimi platter feed? We ordered the small sashimi, and the portion was bigger than I expected?! It looked like it could feed three people with smaller appetites! But for us sashimi killers, the two of us finished it all and were stuffed haha. ### How the flounder and sea bream tasted in autumn On the left is flounder, on the right is sea bream! I get why this combo is so popular. It wasn't flounder season yet so it had a chewy texture, and the sea bream had a savory, subtly sweet flavor that I really enjoyed. For reference, flounder is in season fall through winter, rockfish spring through early summer, and sea bream in spring. Oh well, guess I'll have to come back in the right season haha. They even sliced up the flounder fin for us, and it was so good! The sashimi slices were thin but generously cut, so you could really feel the texture and get a full mouthful in each bite! They also gave us flying fish roe mixed with rice for the sushi, which was a nice treat — wrapped up big with the sashimi, yum! ## Was the spicy fish stew any good? Ta-da~! Even if my stomach's about to burst, I can't skip the spicy fish stew. And Minja Hoetjip's stew was genuinely delicious?!
