I love agu-jjim (braised monkfish), but it had been so long since I’d had it that I suddenly craved it badly 🤔 I kept telling my friend, “I want agu-jjim!!” and my friend told me to find a good place. That’s how I came across Haemul Teukbyeolsi Cheongna Direct Branch (해물특별시 청라직영점) 👀 The agu-jjim looked great, and clam soup, corn cheese, and flat dumplings were included too, so I thought, “Oh! This is it,” and visited right away💕

## Parking and interior at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Cheongna Direct Branch

There was space for about six cars in front of the restaurant, so parking was easy. We visited around 2 p.m., avoiding peak time, so it was smooth—but the lot could fill up during busy hours❗️Still, there are lots of closed shops nearby, so parking should not be too difficult🚗

Maybe because it had not been open long, the interior was clean and pleasant✨ Even at 2 p.m., it was packed with diners—it is clearly a popular spot🫢

There was also a private room on one side where you cannot see inside at all, so it would be nice for a quiet family gathering! This is the interior after some guests had left ✨

The restrooms are out in the hallway, separated for men and women, and kept clean!

## Tablet ordering and the menu

You order using the tablet at each table, but there is also a large menu board on the wall, so it was easy to look over the menu without using the tablet👀

The menu had so many delicious-looking options: teppan agu-jjim, teppan steamed seafood, algoni-jjim (steamed fish roe and milt), seafood stew, seafood kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), and more! There were also kid-friendly dishes such as whole-shrimp fried rice and galbi dumplings, so it felt perfect for a family meal out. I had come for agu-jjim from the start, so without hesitation I ordered the small teppan agu-jjim, soju, and fried rice to finish❤️

These were lovely sides to eat along with the meal. The complimentary clam soup had mussels and scallops, and one spoonful of the refreshing broth really cleared my palate. It had chili peppers for a pleasantly spicy kick, making it a great broth with soju👍🏻

Teppan corn cheese and flat dumplings were included too ❤️ The sweet-and-salty corn cheese was a special treat👍🏻 Corn cheese with just one main dish~~!💜

## Agu-jjim kept warm on the teppan

The main teppan agu-jjim arrived in a teppan pot with a wonderfully generous presentation👀 It came fully cooked, so we could dig in right away! Here is the complete spread ✨

The white pieces on top were monkfish liver, and they were deliciously chewy and firm!

The monkfish was chewy yet mild, and special cuts such as monkfish stomach went beautifully with crisp bean sprouts and fragrant minari (water parsley). More than anything, unlike at typical steamed-dish restaurants, it stayed gently heated on the teppan, so I loved that we could enjoy it warm until the end👍🏻

We chose a spice level like Shin Ramyun, and the spicy sauce was not overly harsh—it really clung to the palate❤️ The monkfish was seriously tender too.

You can dip it in whichever sauce you like, but the seasoning was delicious enough to eat it as is!

Wrapping plump monkfish, bean sprouts, and plenty of sauce in a crispy flat dumpling made for another distinctive treat. There was lots of goni (fish milt) too, and it went so well with the seasoning ❤️ When the spicy sauce started to warm us up, clear, hot clam-soup broth or cheesy corn made the most fantastic pairing👍🏻

## Finishing with fried rice in the leftover sauce

After eating most of the dish, we ordered fried rice with the remaining sauce. The fried rice came back from the kitchen with a proper smoky wok flavor, and it was such a satisfying finish that I kept reaching for it even though I was full💕

The staff were kind, and the agu-jjim was great value too👍🏻 The clean atmosphere made me want to return next time with my parents. On my next visit, I am thinking of trying the teppan steamed seafood topped with a whole squid, or the good-value lunch-special seafood kalguksu☺️
