It's inside the building. Second floor of the Starbucks building near Cheongna Cathedral!

There's a waiting area like this, and best of all — parking is often a worry, but here it's possible. Building parking, floors 4 to 6.

## The vibe inside and the kids' play room

Walking in, the place was bigger than I expected, which was nice.

There was also a play room, which looked great for families visiting with kids. Inside, there were even high chairs.

Probably because they run group seating, there were a lot of families when I visited, plus groups of students.

There's wifi too, and aprons on the wall, plus hand sanitizer, floss, and hair ties near the counter.

The tables were spaced generously, and opening the table drawer, there were spoons and napkins ready — convenient. Alright, let's actually eat.

## How the sets differ (A, B, C, D)

The menu is up on the wall, and you can also comfortably check it and order on the kiosk.

If you came for the all-you-can-eat, there are roughly 4 options. Special dishes + Han River ramyeon + drinks + pork + rice + soft-serve ice cream come with every set. A has eel / 6 kinds of beef / yukhoe / crab; B has eel / chuck short ribs / crab; C has beef / yukhoe / crab; D has 3 kinds of dakgalbi. That's how they're structured. Just pick based on the meat or combo you're craving.

## What's at the self-serve bar

Jangsodam's self-serve bar had fresh lettuce wraps like this, plus refillable side dishes to pair with the meat — really nice. I mostly kept going back for the white kimchi, ginger, and pickled onions.

In the back, there was cabbage salad or vegetables to grill, fried snacks, and rice too.

You could make rice balls, or grill bread with strawberry jam.

Finally, further back there was galbi (short ribs), dakgalbi, pork belly skin, samgyeopsal, and even rice cakes! There were also drinks and an ice cream machine, so you could even make affogato. Everything felt thoughtfully arranged for kids and adults alike — really nice.

Wait, LOL, the beef... it was folded up so I didn't realize how big it was, but why is it this huge LOL. Fine if there are several of you, but if it's two or three people, I'd recommend cutting it up and grilling small pieces! Since it's beef, if it sits after grilling it can get a bit tough. Of course, from the next batch on, I cut it up before putting it on the grill and got it perfectly cooked. Yum.

The side dishes were all so delicious too. The white kimchi in particular was amazing.

Second tip: if you toss the ginger into the sauce ahead of time, you can just lay it right on top of the eel instead of awkwardly dipping each piece. + It also goes great with the pickled onions.

Get a refill of meat and eat another round, and to keep the flow going, keep grilling more eel while other pieces finish.

Seriously though, the eel is so big. The final step of grilling eel: stand it up on the grill! It really looks like a seagull LOL. Look how plump this eel is...

I also got to try the crab marinated in soy sauce — sweet and spicy, a familiar flavor but still delicious. Scoop up warm rice, pick the crab meat clean, pile it on top — genuinely so good.

## How to use the Han River ramyeon machine

For dessert, Han River ramyeon (instant noodles). If I ever make good money, I want a Han River ramyeon machine at home.

Unpack whatever ramyeon you want onto the plate, press the button for that ramyeon, and that's it! It takes about 5 minutes, so just wait at your table until it beeps.

Go grab it and — bubbling, delicious ramyeon, done! Eating it along with the broth between bites made it go down even better. But if you leave it unfinished it's ₩3,000, so only make one if you're sure you'll finish it!

## Finishing with soft-serve ice cream

And the real dessert, soft-serve ice cream! The trick is to hold the cup as close as possible and pull the lever slowly, and

you can swirl it up nice and pretty like this. And the ice cream itself — not watery at all, genuinely tasty soft-serve, so I had several servings. Even if you're stuffed, seriously get the ice cream!

## Who is Jangsodam Cheongna good for?

I ordered Set B wanting to eat my fill of eel, and both the eel and the beef came in generous portions, so I really did eat my fill. Being able to mix in beef and side dishes along the way meant I never got tired of any one thing. Jangsodam Cheongna is a great spot when you want to eat a variety of meats at once. Another plus is you don't have to agonize over the menu — there are plenty of options, and with the kids' play room, it works well for family dinners or visits with a larger group.

- Mix the ginger into the sauce ahead so you can eat it easily with the eel
- Beef gets tough if grilled ahead of time, so cut it up and grill small portions
