## In short

Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Guwol Moraenae Market Station Branch is a Korean restaurant across from Moraenae Market in Namdong, Incheon. I tried the 14,000 won sundae-guk set with sliced pressed pork and chewy sundae, plus 16,000 won samgyetang. A filling, satisfying stop before or after exploring the market.

I came to Moraenae Market for a little weekend market browsing, then stopped by Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Guwol Moraenae Market Station Branch for lunch!

I didn’t know this before, but apparently Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk is already a hugely popular sundae-guk restaurant around Yongin, Gyeonggi-do! I’m rather proud of how many great sundae-guk places I’ve visited (?) so I came to see for myself whether this one was really that good, haha.

## A cozy restaurant across from Moraenae Market

The restaurant is across from Moraenae Market, so it was a nice place to eat either before or after looking around the market. It isn’t especially large inside, but it had a cozy, tidy atmosphere.

There was a wide selection of meal options, along with quite a few dishes to have with drinks as well as sundae-guk! They have also recently added gopchang jeongol (spicy beef intestine hot pot) and ppyeo jeongol (bone hot pot), so it looked like a decent place not only for a sundae-guk meal but also for drinks in the evening.

## Sundae-guk set meal and samgyetang ordered by kiosk

You can order using the kiosk at each table. We ordered the set meal (₩14,000), which comes with sundae-guk, pyeonyuk (sliced pressed pork), and chal sundae (chewy glutinous-rice blood sausage), as well as samgyetang (₩16,000). Just a heads-up: samgyetang takes about 20 minutes to cook after ordering, so it’s best to allow a little extra time :)

They were also running a receipt-review event and a survey event!

### Side dishes that went perfectly with gukbap

They brought out the side dishes first: napa cabbage kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), green chili peppers, and onions—exactly the classic side dishes for a gukbap restaurant, haha.

Each table also had dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste), saeujeot (salted shrimp), and Cheongyang chili peppers, so you can add them to your gukbap however you like.

For any extra side dishes, you can use the self-service bar.

## A sundae-guk set meal packed with ingredients

### Sundae-guk with a milky-white broth

First up was the sundae-guk! Can you see how milky-white the broth is?! 🤤 It looked rich and deeply savory even before tasting it, but above all, it was absolutely loaded with ingredients. The earthenware bowl felt so full that I briefly wondered whether I had ordered the extra-large size by mistake, hahaha 🤣

Since it was a set meal, the pyeonyuk and chal sundae came together on a plate.

![Pyeonyuk and chal sundae served with the set meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal-11-u988n-569.webp)

Honestly, the pyeonyuk and chal sundae had the familiar flavors we all know—but you know how the familiar ones can be the most dangerous, right? haha. They were pleasantly chewy and mild, making them great alongside the sundae-guk 👍🏻

And there it is: a complete Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk set meal spread! 🙌

![Complete Yennal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk set meal spread](https://img.superchart.com/images/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal-14-6sg8s-900.webp)

The sundae-guk contained not only sundae and meat but also gopchang (beef intestines), which added a lovely chewy bite. The sundae was generously filled too, so it was much more filling than I expected 👍🏻

### Kimchi that mattered as much as the gukbap

And... at a sundae-guk restaurant, the kimchi matters just as much as the sundae-guk itself, right?! Even if the gukbap is delicious, bad kimchi quietly knocks points off for me personally... but the kimchi here was so!!! good!! 🫢 It was refreshing yet nicely spicy, and a bite of kimchi after a spoonful of gukbap went incredibly well together. I tend to eat lots of kimchi with gukbap, so I was even happier that I loved this kimchi, haha.

I was so busy eating the sundae-guk that when I was about halfway through, I added dadaegi and finished it with a spicy kick. The milky-white broth turned warmly spicy and peppery with the seasoning, so it was like enjoying a whole different flavor 🤤 I recommend savoring the rich, clean flavor of the broth first without dadaegi, then adding it around the halfway point.

## Samgyetang made even heartier with sticky rice

The samgyetang my husband ordered arrived too.

![Samgyetang served after ordering](https://img.superchart.com/images/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal-21-1t4ea-900.webp)

The chicken was generously stuffed with sticky rice, so it looked wonderfully filling to eat the rice along with the chicken. I had a bite too, and the chicken was so tender that the meat came right off the bone. The broth was also very rich and savory 👍🏻

![Samgyetang with sticky rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal/moraenae-market-sundaeguk-set-meal-22-1caqb-900.webp)

Honestly, I wondered whether the samgyetang would be any good at a restaurant specializing in sundae-guk, but it was more satisfying than I expected. My husband hasn’t been feeling well latelyㅠㅠ, so I wanted to give him something restorative—and he said it really did the job, hahaha.

I had heard it was famous in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, and was curious just how good it could be, but after trying it myself, I can see why it is popular.. If you love sundae-guk, I think it’s worth visiting at least once. It’s also a Moraenae Market restaurant I’d recommend to anyone looking for a hearty meal before or after browsing the market!
