There are days when going straight home after work on a weekday just feels like a waste. I'd worked all day, so I wanted something delicious to eat and a cold draft beer to shake off the day.

This time I headed to Bas Burger Jamwon Branch, near Nonhyeon Station. It's a place where you can enjoy handmade burgers with draft beer, so it seemed perfect for a quick stop after work.

I found it while looking for restaurants near Nonhyeon Station, and I liked that I could handle dinner and beer in one spot.

## Where Bas Burger Jamwon is and what the room feels like

Walking down the alley, the red BAS BURGER sign catches your eye. You can see inside through the glass windows, so even first-timers can check the vibe before walking in.

It had that distinct casual feel typical of handmade burger joints, so it wasn't awkward to visit alone.

Being a weekday evening, it wasn't too loud, with just the right number of people enjoying their meals. The vibe suited everything from solo dining to a casual dinner meet-up.

Ordering is done through the in-store kiosk. I went with the Hawaiian burger set and 2 pieces of mozza chicken bites that day. The Hawaiian burger set was ₩18,600. I added the mozza chicken bites for ₩7,200 on top.

The set menu lets you pick options on top of the basic combo, so it was easy to order to my taste. You could just have a simple burger, but since the point of the day was a weekday mood reset, I decided to go all in with draft beer too.

## The self-serve sauce bar and free potato chips

What was fun at Bas Burger was the self-service corner. Ketchup and mayo were there, along with BBQ sauce and honey mustard. There were also several other sauces, including Bas Burger's house sauce and ranch, so you can grab whatever suits your taste.

While eating a burger, there are moments you want a bit more sauce, and it was nice being able to grab as much as I wanted without feeling self-conscious. There's also the fun of trying each sauce to see which one fits best.

And you can't leave out the chips at Bas Burger. You can grab crunchy chips while you wait, so my hand naturally kept reaching for them even before my order arrived. Salty and crispy, they went great as a beer snack too.

You do have to pace yourself, or you might fill up before the burger even arrives. But when it's right in front of you, that 'pacing yourself' part turns out to be harder than expected.

### Seats that work for drinking alone at Bas Burger Jamwon

The interior had a casual vibe reminiscent of an American-style burger joint. Warm lighting and tile walls blended with wood tables. There were plenty of seats too, so it worked fine for eating alone.

What I especially liked was how natural it felt to come in alone for a beer after work. No need to seek out a fancy bar — you can naturally have a drink while having dinner here.

After a short wait, my order came out piled high on one tray.

### How did the Hawaiian burger taste?

True to its name, the Hawaiian burger had a charm a little different from a typical burger.

Between soft buns were a patty and cheese, along with thick bacon and vegetables. The sweetness mixed with the rich, salty meat flavor — if you like sweet-and-salty combos, this would suit you especially well.

The burger was quite thick, so you needed a big bite to taste all the ingredients together. Paired with draft beer, the sweet flavor was followed by the beer's coolness — a good combination.

The mozza chicken bites I ordered alongside were also satisfying. As you can tell from the photo, the outside was fried golden and crispy. With cheese and herbs sprinkled over the thick coating, it had rich flavor even on its own.

Sauce was also served alongside, so you could dip it according to your taste. It's a great side to add when a burger alone feels lacking, and it did double duty as a solid beer snack.

The coleslaw played the role of resetting the palate between the rich burger and fried bites. The crunchy vegetables and soft dressing worked well together, and it was nice to eat in between bites. Eating just burger and fried food can feel heavy after a while, but having coleslaw alongside made the combination much more comfortable.
