## In short

Manokamana Songdo Branch is an Indian and Nepali restaurant in Yeonsu, Incheon. I met my younger friend to deliver a wedding invitation and shared Set B, with chicken masala, butter naan, basmati rice, chicken tikka, and lassi for 40,000 won. A lovely pick for a change-of-pace meal with curry and naan.

I met up with a younger friend to give them a wedding invitation. They have not graduated from university yet, so we decided to meet near their school and then head over together. As we wondered what to eat, I felt like having something a little different from usual, and chose Manokamana Songdo Branch for an Indian curry experience.

## Manokamana Songdo Branch at Songdo The Sharp First World

Manokamana Songdo Branch sits on the corner of the first floor of Building G at Songdo The Sharp First World. Amid Songdo's characteristically neat commercial buildings, this Indian and Nepali specialty restaurant really stood out. It felt like a great place to visit when you want something a little different from everyday Korean or Western food. Since it is inside the building, it also seemed nice for a date: after your meal, you could stroll around Songdo Central Park or the surrounding area.

## An exotic interior with generously spaced tables

The first thing I noticed upon entering was the exotic interior, designed to evoke an Indian atmosphere. Arched structures, carved decorations, wall art and mirrors, and chandeliers all added details throughout, making it feel clearly different from an ordinary restaurant. The wood-toned tables and chairs blended nicely with the overall decor, while a long row of red sofa seating along one wall added even more atmosphere.

The window-side area in particular had large floor-to-ceiling windows, so plenty of natural light came in and the view outside kept it from feeling closed in. Seating was arranged generously around tables for two to four people, with relatively roomy space between tables and along the walkways. There were plenty of seats, yet the tables were not packed too closely together, so I could relax throughout the meal.

When we sat down, individual plates, spoons, and forks were neatly set out. Everything was tidily arranged, giving a clean first impression. Even the water cups were metal rather than ordinary glass, which suited the restaurant's exotic atmosphere nicely.

## How to choose from the QR menu

![Table QR ordering menu guide](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala-07-psxpe-966.webp)

Manokamana Songdo Branch uses the QR code placed at each table for ordering. Once seated, you can scan it to view the menu and order right away, which was convenient because there was no need to call a staff member over. I also liked being able to take my time looking through the menu before choosing. If viewing a menu on your phone feels inconvenient or you prefer a paper menu, though, staff can provide a separate menu on request. Even if you are not used to QR ordering, you can ask for a menu, so it should not be a major inconvenience.

When I opened the QR menu, there were honestly far more options than I expected. The categories were detailed, ranging from lamb curry and vegetable curry to paneer curry, stir-fried noodles, pasta, desserts, and drinks, so first-time visitors may pause for a moment over what to choose. Each item came with a photo and price, making comparison easy, and spice-level markings helped with choosing to taste. With so many choices, I recommend taking your time scrolling through the QR menu rather than rushing. If it feels difficult, a set menu seems like a good option.

## Chicken masala and chicken tikka with Set B

- Set B for two: ₩38,000
- Green salad
- Chicken tikka, 6 pieces
- Curry: Chicken Masala
- Naan: changed to Butter Naan, +₩500
- Rice: changed to Basmati Rice, +₩1,500
- Drinks: 2 Plain Lassis

Since there were so many menu choices, we selected Set B for two at ₩38,000 so we could try a variety of things. Changing the naan and rice from the standard set added a little extra, bringing our total to ₩40,000.

![A full Set B meal with chicken masala](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala-21-farz1-966.webp)

The green salad arrived first, with lettuce and vegetables topped with dressing and nuts. It was a nice light way to wake up the appetite before getting into the curry and chicken tikka, and the crisp vegetables paired well with the nutty nuts. It was also good to have between bites of the spiced dishes.

The item in the set that caught my eye first was the chicken tikka. The reddish marinade had soaked well into the meat, and each bite brought together the characteristic flavor of spices and grilled chicken. The outside had a lightly charred feel, while the meat inside was tender rather than dry. A little dip in the sauce made the flavor richer, giving it a different feel from eating it on its own.

### Tender chicken masala and fluffy basmati rice

We chose Chicken Masala for the curry. Its deep color made me think it might be very intense or spicy, but it was actually a style with gentle spice flavors in a smooth sauce. Eaten with the chicken in the curry, its nutty, rich flavor came through nicely. Personally, I thought it worked well with both naan and rice.

We changed the rice to Basmati Rice for an additional ₩1,500. Unlike the Korean steamed rice I usually eat, the grains were long and did not stick together, giving it a light, separate texture. It may feel a little unfamiliar at first, but it paired especially well with the rich Indian curry. It has a different charm from naan and curry, so if two people visit, I think ordering one naan and one basmati rice to try both would be a good choice.

### Butter naan and plain lassi together

We changed the naan in the standard set to Butter Naan for an additional ₩500. You can probably tell from the photo, but the naan was quite large and made an immediate impression when it arrived at the table. Freshly served, it was warm, soft, and chewy, with the butter giving it an even nuttier flavor than regular naan. It was delicious torn off and eaten on its own, but it was best with a generous spoonful of chicken masala curry on top. If you order curry, I definitely recommend having naan with it.

The set included two plain lassis. As you would expect from a yogurt-based drink, they were smooth with a sweet-tart taste. Having one after dishes with spiced flavors, such as curry or chicken tikka, made my mouth feel much fresher.

## What to check before using the restroom

![Restroom access directions toward the restaurant's back door](https://img.superchart.com/images/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala/songdo-indian-curry-chicken-masala-23-1o1b4-966.webp)

The restroom is accessed by going out through the restaurant's back door. It is not directly connected from inside the dining area, so first-time visitors may find it easier to check the location with a staff member before heading over. The restroom also has a door-lock password, so check the password posted at the restaurant or ask a staff member before using it.

## For a day when you want something different in Songdo

Manokamana Songdo Branch was a comfortable place to enjoy Indian and Nepali food in an exotic setting. There are plenty of approachable dishes even for people trying Indian food for the first time, and the wide curry selection makes it a good place for a Songdo date, family meal, or a day when you want a more unusual meal. When you are craving something different in Songdo and want to properly enjoy curry and naan, Manokamana Songdo Branch would be worth a visit.
