I was around Dongmyo and suddenly craved Indian curry, so I stopped by Namaste Dongmyo Branch. Instead of ordering a bunch of dishes separately, I wanted to try several things at once, so I went with the couple set for two. The set turned out to be quite varied for two people, so let me introduce it for anyone looking for Blue Ribbon-rated restaurants around Dongmyo.

On the day I visited, there were actually several years' worth of Blue Ribbon stickers stuck right by the counter.

## What is the 2nd-floor dining room at Namaste Dongmyo Branch like?

Namaste Dongmyo Branch is an Indian-Nepalese restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building on Jibong-ro, and the interior is packed with props that remind you of an actual local restaurant in Nepal or India. The moment I walked in I was a little surprised at how properly set the mood was haha. Felt like Dongmyo suddenly teleported to Nepal haha. From the interior alone, Namaste Dongmyo Branch definitely has atmosphere. Instead of the usual clean-cut restaurant look, there were really a lot of props that recalled a local Nepali or Indian restaurant.

There are wood-toned tables and chairs with elephant decorations, and even the lighting and wall decor felt exotic. Various liquors were displayed too, and overall it had the feel of an old-school local restaurant, which made it fun just to look around. It's a good spot to duck into when you're wandering the Dongmyo restaurant street and craving something a little different.

And there were actually more Korean customers than I expected! People kept coming in. I even saw someone dining solo, so it seems like a fine atmosphere for eating alone too.

We ordered the couple set for two. The price is ₩50,000. The set comes with 2 samosas and 4 pieces of chicken tikka, plus a choice of chicken curry or prawn makhani. On top of that you pick either palak paneer or mixed vegetable, and it comes with 2 naan and rice. Finally, tea or lassi is included too.

### Naan, curry and rice together

Personally, when I go for Indian curry I think naan is the most important part haha. It came out big, so I tore off small pieces by hand and piled curry on top.

The rich, smooth curry with chewy naan is a combo that's hard to mess up. Rice came out separately too, so you could switch between eating with naan and mixing curry into the rice.

The vegetable curry had quite a lot of chunks in it — corn, green peas, and more. Piling a bite-sized amount onto naan let me taste the spice flavor and the vegetable texture together, which I liked. If you're new to Indian curry and worried about the spices, tasting several dishes in small portions through a set like this is a good way to figure out your preference.

### Chicken tikka and samosas

Chicken tikka came out too. The chicken, marinated red, was grilled to a mouthwatering finish — good to eat a piece at a time in between curry bites. The samosa had a crispy exterior, so I dipped it in the sauce. From curry to naan and rice to the sides, the menu lineup was more substantial than I expected.

I also tried samosa for the first time — I'd only ever seen it on TV shows! It's like an Indian-style dumpling, and the aroma was just right and tasty! It was filled with vegetables inside and had a spice aroma!

### Lassi to finish the meal

Lastly, the lassi came out. After eating curry, the spice flavor lingers in your mouth, and the cool, smooth lassi paired really well with it. It tasted a bit like yogurt!

What I especially liked about the couple set was that it wasn't just a main dish on its own — with sides through to the drink included, there was no need to keep adding on extra menu items.

## Is the Namaste Dongmyo set worth it?

Overall, Namaste Dongmyo Branch had a clearly exotic atmosphere, not just in the food but in the interior too. I think I'll remember this place when I'm craving something different from the usual meat or Korean food on the Dongmyo Station restaurant street.

If you're visiting with two people like we did, the couple set for two is a good way to taste several dishes at once. It was much more filling than just having curry alone, with the samosa and chicken tikka rounding things out.
